You must not ump at Babe Ruth. Speaking for most players, we have a great time with the umpires and joke consistently throughout the game. Very few times have I seen an arguement break out.. I did not mean what I said as far as all summer programs. It is mostly the select leagues that there are problems. Babe Ruth has always been a very relaxed place to call. Most of the time the trouble is from the travel teams. The guys at Lamar were way out of line from all reports I have received.

There were two new umps there today so i will check on what happened. I can say this, when it is hot and humid, I am not gonna listen to very much crap. One reason why i do very little summer league anymore cause there is no one to police what goes on.

Would someone who actually was there and saw and heard what happened please send me a PM. I would like to look into this if the ump involved is a TASO official.

Funny you should say that Besbol. At The Brook a few years ago when McDonald was coaching, the Bruins were playing strangely enough for this topic, Crosby. I had the plate, the temp was around 36-38 and the wind was howling in form left field. The Bruins switched and were in the 3rd base dugout because of the wind. The coaches came to the plate conference, I looked at them and said, guys you can call me anything you want tonight, act a fool or anything else, but I will not chunk anyone tonight because if I have to freeze my tush off out here you are too!!!!

You golfing guys should join out little group on oobgolf.com. There is a link in the thread of oobgolf. We now have 6 locals in the group. It just keeps the scores courses and handicaps for everyone. Never know someday we can all get together and have a little tourny.

I have come across a few sites but I think this one may be the best. You can enter your scores for your rounds at our local courses and the site will calculate a handicap for you. If you play multiple courses in the area like I do, then it is really easy to know your true handicap. You can also track stats if you want also. I track my score per hole, drives in fairways, and putts. I am listed as MrUmp1 and you can look at what I have entered. If there is enough intrest we could have a setxsports group and keep up with all of our scores. Let me know if there is any intrest.

Thats why I didn't think it was that important to put out all these rosters so quickly so people would complain about who was left off maybe not knowing the whole story. I know by fact and personal knowledge that both of you are incorrect on this assumption. Not complaining about no offer, just curious about the result of the process. If your coach put your name in the hat then it was offered. The umpires did not make the decision of who made a team. I think there were some schools who did not even put any names in so ......... This time it is not the Umpire Fault !!!!!

Do not quite understand how this thing works. Several of the names listed on the rosters are leaving for Mississippi or Arizona with the Sundevils on Wed and Thurs. So what gives? (Not that it really matters) Coaches nominate their players for the teams. If they are nominated we put them on a team. If they have other commitments it is not a big deal. There will be some scouts that will be there and all the money raised goes into the Scholarship Fund. In January we will be awarding TEN $1000.00 scholarships. Also they get to play at Lamar and for some this may be their only chance to get to play at a D1 stadium

I knew the scholarships where awarded in January, but I thought the decision on who they where going to be awarded to would be decided mid May. Has that decision been made? If so, have the boys been notified? Thanks! I really do not know, but I think they have. I will ask during the week.

I was on Third Base LOL probably didn't get much air time . Just got in form Austin, When we left the temp was 102 hot hot hot... Mr Ump from the looks of it both teams seem like they were nothing short of class. Saw many of the kids praying after the game and from the looks of it Coaches were good people. Great game and both teams represented their skewls well. I have had the Lufkin Coach before and he has always been very easy to get along with. El Paso was also very well mannered. I have said this for quite a few years now, the teams that come to the ball park with only playing baseball, not worrying about the umpires, or letting a few called pitches get under their skin, are the ones there at the end. Talent and staying focused on what your there for is the right way to go about it.

I called third base in this game and both teams had chances and couldn't get the runners in. It was an 11 inning game won by a 2 run home run. I have third again tommorrow in the finals

The players are nominated by their coaches. All that we ask was for the underclassman to have played on the varsity team. We take players from all 43 schools that we umpire in our area. Their will be a 3A and under division of Seniors then a game of Underclassman. Same thing with a 4a-5A division. The main purpose of this is to make money to give back in scholarships to players. This coming January we will be awarding TEN $1000.00 scholarships.

They will be held on Saturday the 20th not sure how many games yet but there will be games all day.
