If someone like Coach Jackson gets it, they'll still run "the Bone!" They need a young coach who understands the kids and the community!

It was 2003, and I skipped it for a reason. He only coached one season. He was more like a intrum then anything. He was hired after the 2003 season which resulted in him coaching the 2004 season and being removed after that! Thus making the way for Stowers in 2005

Seems like you've become close to the program in recent years from what you're saying about Stowers! Hope your loyalty to JagLand stay strong!

Should it be someone from in house or in district or bring someone from outside the BMT? Should it be a young coach w/ fire or an older coach to get the job done?

What do they have that we don't: How about parent support! That has always been an issue here! They have a winning history..crap son, you named programs that have won state titles...You're comparing oranges to apples!

Coach Stowers had them taking SATs during the Junior years on! He aslo used Character Enhancement Day...which was Wednesday which he used to help kids learn how to carry themselves! It's hard to erase a lifetime of ignorance in a short few years! I think he did a stand up job! And because Stowers cares...Victor Spikes got his scholarship to Utah despite leaving on his own accord! Stowers stayed in contact with the recruiter who loved seeing Spikes while at Central...he didn't get the scholar b/c of what he did at Marshall!

Shoot, I got licks while I played at Central...and my brother has gotten his fair share as well! It was suprising, when we moved here that it was still in practice! But I don't think it's like the FRAT dayz and nobody is being killeed; it's just a reminder to do right all the time!

Can't blame that on the Coach...Those kids gotta take care of business in the classroom! I know Stowers does grade checks, but the kids can't screw around and wait till their senior year to get ready for college! Big B was not motivated...in college he wouldn't go to class! He didn't have someone like Stowers breathing down his neck...Frog tried to get the picture, but he didn't wake up till late! He was close to qualifying but still ended up at Navarro! I wish both Stowers and Watter the best...any other coaches rumored to be leaving?

Who wouldn't say that? There are quite of few people who would take 75 grand to be a HC in BMT where they are from! In fact they could be satisfied rubbing elbows w/ the right people and not have a clue about what to do vs cover 2 or how to roll the safeties to cov 3...like Stowers taught! Kenneth Ruben is coaching in Nebraska right now. He's earning his degree right now. He said he will be applying for the position. And he looks to build on that loyalty I've been speaking of. heck like I said, the coach Central need may already be right under BISD's nose. It seems like BISD doesn't want anyone from outside to come in...but they'd like to promote someone! Or move somebody over!

People thought that about here when he first came! What's to say they don't turn it around up there? What's to say they don't hire from w/in and keep the same scheme offensively? ???

It's not about being a Central Grad...that ain't gonna make a difference...right is right and you deserve what you sussposed to get! Stowers didn't have his coaches in the athletic period and plus they limited him on what he could get done! He might have felt like he didn't have the support of the higher ups! People talk a good game but refuse to back it up! Like this year, instead of being excited about being in the 4th round, people were complaining about the location of the game and calling Stowers stupid for picking that site! Shame on us! You bring in a Central Guy and see if he stays thru the slaps, jabs, and shots that he's gonna get regardless of whether he wins or loses! If you get offered a better situation (money, facilities, more diverse, no staying till 9 or 10pm b/c parents won't come pick up their kids) you'd have to really look at it!

Good Luck you him and his staff that may go with him! I hope Co Jackson decides to stay! He'd be a great replacement for Stowers even though they came down together!

Isn't this a bit premature...I mean it'll be 2010 before they get to battle it out for real! I hope those kids stick and stay...they'll all be reshirting this fall and next year as an independent Lamar will get some games!

Did he apply at PN-G? If so, I would take him. That might be too much too soon...y'all are still handling the news about Obama...don't think you could handle a black HC too! ;D I'm just playing...don't be mad! 8)

Beside Central's Will Jones...were there any other underclassmen nominated! Congrats to all...we really are looking forward to Will Jones making a return trip to the banquet next year!
