sorry LU Cards, without the Woodard info, your original Q fell on deaf ears didn't it.

When I was at King in the late '80s it was packed and loud. I've been in L-town now to long. I couldn't tell you how it is at King but let us know how it goes (I'm curious).

*PN-G vs. Lumberton Updates*/RAIDERS WIN IN OT!!!
smith replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just goes with the game. Last year my wife and I along with my 9yr old and 3yr old were leaving the Lumberton PNG game (streets/neighborhood behind stadium) and a truck drove by us yelling at us and shooting us the finger. Just had to use it as a teaching experience for my 9yr old, blow it off, and take the loss. -
This should be a good game. I don't know much about either this year. Just looking at the stat's both have a good O but it looks like Dayton may have the edge on D. Hopefully my Panthers will edge this one out.

In the SLC, do you know what the ratio is of attendance to enrollment? Just curious who's bringing 'em in. (I have a fairly good guess but ...)

Just a few "fair use" clips of the game for discussion and comment on LU Football. Not sure how long I'll leave this clip up.

Watched this one on the gametracker when I got home. Clicking between Dayton game and LU Gametracker. Love the Internet.

Looks like it's a Q' mark right now ... but there are always a few diamonds in the rough that don't get the Sr. year Feb signing date nod (for whatever reason - wrong HS position, etc) that turn out to be more than outstanding college players. I can't wait until 2010 to find out who those were.

Lamar 1989 Football Video - SHSU
smith replied to TexasTerror's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Thanks for the link Terror. That's pretty cool they are putting the old media out there. I may get a copy of the 88 game when they post it as well. Yeah, '88 was a hard fought game both during and just after that game? -
I think they'll add it very soon. They're gonna want it out there if they are going to start "an extensive walk-on program this fall"

We can make it different. Just yellow the teeth a little and black one of them out. -
Lamar football resurgence to hit full stride - soon
smith replied to UNLV's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
"Lamar University is nine months away from signing its first round of football recruits in more than a generation." Ouch ... I'm not one to worry about my age or growing older ... but that stung a little when I read it. Time slips away before you know it. -
Okay, all you Lamar fan's make sure you are sitting down!

Wow, you sure racked up a lot of reads in a short time on this thread. -
Article Re: SFA Fan Treatment to Opposing Fans
smith replied to TexasTerror's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
USL was the only place we were instructed to wear our helmets while on the sideline in order to keep from getting hit in the head with ice (or anything else). Also, in '88 we lost at SHSU by 2 points and got in a big fight after the game when a SHSU fan handed Coach Alborn a black rose. (I was at around the 50 talking to SHSU Coach Moot). That lead to one of only two promotional items I remember from '88 '89 when the '89 game vs SHSU was deemed "Rose Bowl II" and black shirts were made up. Of course none of this was a fan on fan violence thing and schools and police need to jump on that when it occurs. There's a line that shouldn't be crossed. People are taking their families to these games. -
The only thing I'd add to that is that it'd be good to pick up a few transfers that weren't already redshirted. That way they can sit out their transfer year during the '09 year and then finish out their eligibility. That would add some strength at the start and maybe give a kid another year of college paid for that they wouldn't get if they played their 4 straight wherever that happen to be now.
