  1. OK, I must have been mistaken.
  2. I appreciate it. I'm just alittle bitter about the loss tonight and felt like being picky. But really, I hope Nederland goes deep this year.
  3. That was a great game tonight. There were times at the end that I thought you were trying to give it away, but the defense stepped up big time on the 2-pt. conversion and causing the fumble after King recovered the onside kick. Some things I took away from the game: 1) Grogan is the best player in the district (100 yard kick return for TD and a 96 yard TD run) 2)#40 (sorry I dont know his name) stepped up BIG time and played great when Grogan couldnt go 3) The Back-up QB showed great poise when he led the team down on the 90 yard drive to take the lead in the 4th Quarter. I do have one complaint though. I know the emotions of football and fans can spill over to the next week, but that was pretty low to cheer when the announcer reported scores of the Lumberton game. As much as I would like to say that it was just a few fans that jeered, it was way more than that. District is over and we are all in these play-offs together. Good Luck the rest of the play-offs!
  4. PNG beat Crosby... all I need to say.
  5. My understanding is..... In the eyes of the UIL, the "official" title will be District CO-Champions with Livingston BUT In the eyes of football fans everywhere, it is understood Lumberton is the sole district champ since its owns the head to head with Livingston. UIL only uses head to head match ups for playoff tie breakers and playoff seedings. My eyes dont see it this way but whatever floats your boat. Of Course You dont... but thats ok, but I bet you will find more fans who say Lumberton "Should" be District Champs because they won the head-to-head game. I see you are still bitter about this season and wish you all the luck next year. Its all about the U, Glad to see #49 is going to be good for next year. You and Your family I know are very proud of him to try and it give it a go despite all the pain he is going through. Wish you all the best and cant wait to see him cracking some heads next year.
  6. Yeah, my only complaint was that Coach keeps letting Beard try to play. I know he wants to be out there more than anything, but it is sad to see him so disgusted when he tries to go and he cant. He needs to get his knee fixed. If it is as bad as everyone is saying, it could take him a year to fully recover. He needs to have surgery right away from the best doctors around.
  7. I saw all the Dayton fans at the game and they were all high fiving each other after the game. One of them made a gesture like "We just got Lucky, I'm glad we dont have to play them next week!"
  8. I'm pulling for Vidor, but I just dont see how they can get up for this game knowing they left it all out on the line against Nederland and just came up a bit short. Would love to see them rebound and take Livingston. I have been hearing that Vidor has alot of Heart and Pride...well, I cant think of a better time to prove it.
  9. Ok soulja, I remember you posting something very similar to that after the Lumberton game. Intentionaly trying to lose.... ;D
  10. All these Dayton fans are so worried about the Raiders that Livingston is going to get some revenge of their own next week.
  11. I bet he did the so called "Throat Slash" implying decapitation.
  12. A NBA game????? The NBA is dead!!! I would understand if they went to a WNBA game to look at the girls, but NBA??? Fact is, they made a commitment to the team long before they got tickets to the Rockets game. They knew they could not skip practice, that is why they did not say anything. Either way, I think the punishment fits the crime and I think it stinks that Ned will not be at full force this friday night. If Lumberton does win, I can hear the excuses now.
  13. Yeah, that is exacly what I was talking about. C'mon man, just a bit of an exagerration, dont you think? I know nobody is perfect and I have already mentioned that I believe he is a good QB, but he has missed on some throws that I beleive he was more than capable of making. I have seen several times where Asa was matched up one-on-one and Kirby makes the right read, but throws the ball 5-10 yards out of bounds. I am just saying I would make Kirby throw on me before I let Grogan run for 200 yards and 3 TD's( maybe nothing we can do about it), but you know what I mean. Nederland has a very talented offense, I do not know what is dilusional about that.
  14. If Dayton and Lumberton play this season and Dayton wins, at least there wont be any papers to read about it.
  15. I'm going by what he looked like when we played Ned. last year. He doesn't like to get hit and if U rattle him and put constant pressure on him U got it made. Unless he's changed since then, I'm standing by my evaluation. Nothing against the kid at all. He better get rid of the ball quickly because I'd be very surprised if the D-Line isn't able to get pressure. They have all year. Not making a prediction on this game, but he is a much different QB this season for a couple of reasons. It is easy to rush a QB when you know he is going to drop back and throw everytime like last season. It is also easy to get past a non-physical line that did not run block or pass block all that well at the end of the year last season. And, when your safety valve blocker is 5'7 165 and is the last guy protecting the QB then it is not that hard to get to him. Fast forward a year and you will see Kirby has really matured(only a soph last season). He has a pretty good line in front of him that can run and pass block. The last guy protecting him is a running back that goes about 5'11 235. He also has several options this season, hand it to Grogan, screen pass to Grogan, or hit any of the 4 WR's. It's a much different offense than last season. Unfortunately, our defense is still pretty bad! Maybe my expectations for Kirby were a bit much this season. While I think he is a very good QB, I find his play to be very inconsistant. Some drives he comes out and is right on the money, other drives he throws the ball onto the track. If I had to pick my poison (which you have to do against Ned offense), I would take my chances with Kirby over Grogan. I beleive Kirby is capable as well, but I dont want any part of Grogan.
  16. You are correct and I am sorry. Can a Mod please lock and delete this thread please. I did not mean to hurt anyone, it was just something I heard. Sorry again.
  17. I am sure they want him too, but no incentive to go there unless they pay him high, high, dollar. Not saying he wouldnt take it, just a lateral move. Alverez on the other hand is a Big Step up for him. lateral move....BWAHAHAHAAHA, seriously. and coonass: Matt Burnett is the Athletic Director & HC at PNG. If hes gone the position isnt just a coordinator spot but for the Head Coaching position at PNG....but like I stated earlier Ill believe hes gone when I see it. You're right, its a slight step down. But he may get more money though. No really, You know what I mean. One 4A school for another in the same district.
  18. Well, it is Senior Night, so PNG will play with alot of emotion. Could be tough for Central. As Berman would say..."Thats why they play the game!"

  20. Come on Indians...send MB out right with a win over them Jags.
  21. Anyone going?? We bring the ENTIRE city when we travel! Just a question, for a Nederland home game, do they show the visitors replays? YES THEY DO!!! Even when the other team scores NINE TOUCHDOWNS!!! ps... While Nederland is enjoying their big 4th quarter lead, they might just show some of those Bronco TD's from last year to let you know what is going to happen to Lumberton in the first round of the playoffs!!! GO BULLDOGS GO!!! I'LL TAKE BLACK AND GOLD ANY DAY OVER THE OILERS COLORS!!! Black and Gold will make the lugey blue and faded red want to reconsider playing in the playoffs! Very Classy!! I dont think I have ever seen someone put down a team and then support them in the same post. What a first!! Congrats on that!
  22. Ummmmm ... wasn't Asa on the team Lumberton played and spanked last year? Did he not play last year? If our boys handled him last year, why wouldn't they be able to handle him this year? We had ZERO running game last year. PERIOD. We threw the ball 85% of the time late in the season last year. Not saying y'all can't limit Asa at all, but he is not the entire offense as he was last season. Grogan is the offensive MVP and Brady, Vidrine, and Salenga are excellent options other than Cardenas. The offense is WAAAAAY BETTER than last season's which was a very one dimensional offense. With that being said, our defense is still quite porous and requires us to score a lot of points to win. Agree, to compare last years Ned offense to this years is way off base. Central exposed the game plan to beat Nederland... offensive ball control! Lumberton will have our hands full with this offense. We cannot afford to get into a shoot-out with them like Livingston did. We will need to run the ball and PA pass and connect and keep them off the field. We can be successful in containing the offense this way and disguising our looks. I believe Coach C will have a game plan and I expect this to be a great game. Taking nothing away from Central, they did have a great game plan and worked ball control that night to perfection. We did not execute very well that night either when we did have the ball. That is a credit to their defense though as they manned up on the WR's and shut the passing game down. Grogan did run pretty freely that game though, but we went away from that when we got down 2 scores. With that being said, Vidor controlled the ball by nearly a 2 to 1 time of possession and ran twice as many offensive plays than we did and lost by double digits. So, ball control is important, but execution(scoring) on offense and defense(making some stops) is more important than just running the clock. Should be a great game of two teams that could not be more different. P.S. I love the Lumberton announcer and think he is great for the game. I wish we had one just like him! Agree, but the double digits is a little misleading as it was only 4 points, when Vidor turned it over near the endzone and Grogan Bust an 80-something yard touchdown shortly after. Dont get me wrong, I was pulling for Ned all the way, but that game could have gone either way at the end. Ned was on the right side of some luck for a change. (you know what I mean)

I believe Coach C will have a game plan and I expect this to be a great game. That's all well and good, however, the OP referred to "Asa alone", not to the entire offense. I believe that this will be a tough fought game, and if the Lumberton defense plays as it normally does, Nederland's offense is going to have to work very hard to overcome it. I honestly think it's anyone's game. I'm a Raider fan through and through, but even I will not post a brash statement about winning any game in this district, hands down. I didn't even do that for LCM and the poor ol' Bears haven't won a game all season. It's one thing to support your team, it's another to be ridiculous about it. Very well put. Being a Lumberton fan also, I do not take anything for granted and I am just enjoying the success we have had recently!! We will need to stop Grogan first and foremost. We cannot allow him to run all over us like he has just about everybody else. Hopefully, Kirby will have another off night as his play has been very inconsistant. I dont think anybody from Ned will disagree with that.
  24. I really doubt anyone from the outside knows for sure, but I am sure MB is glad he has at least one supporter hoping he isnt going anywhere. :-*
