Ummmmm ... wasn't Asa on the team Lumberton played and spanked last year? Did he not play last year? If our boys handled him last year, why wouldn't they be able to handle him this year? We had ZERO running game last year. PERIOD. We threw the ball 85% of the time late in the season last year. Not saying y'all can't limit Asa at all, but he is not the entire offense as he was last season. Grogan is the offensive MVP and Brady, Vidrine, and Salenga are excellent options other than Cardenas. The offense is WAAAAAY BETTER than last season's which was a very one dimensional offense. With that being said, our defense is still quite porous and requires us to score a lot of points to win. Agree, to compare last years Ned offense to this years is way off base. Central exposed the game plan to beat Nederland... offensive ball control! Lumberton will have our hands full with this offense. We cannot afford to get into a shoot-out with them like Livingston did. We will need to run the ball and PA pass and connect and keep them off the field. We can be successful in containing the offense this way and disguising our looks. I believe Coach C will have a game plan and I expect this to be a great game. Taking nothing away from Central, they did have a great game plan and worked ball control that night to perfection. We did not execute very well that night either when we did have the ball. That is a credit to their defense though as they manned up on the WR's and shut the passing game down. Grogan did run pretty freely that game though, but we went away from that when we got down 2 scores. With that being said, Vidor controlled the ball by nearly a 2 to 1 time of possession and ran twice as many offensive plays than we did and lost by double digits. So, ball control is important, but execution(scoring) on offense and defense(making some stops) is more important than just running the clock. Should be a great game of two teams that could not be more different. P.S. I love the Lumberton announcer and think he is great for the game. I wish we had one just like him! Agree, but the double digits is a little misleading as it was only 4 points, when Vidor turned it over near the endzone and Grogan Bust an 80-something yard touchdown shortly after. Dont get me wrong, I was pulling for Ned all the way, but that game could have gone either way at the end. Ned was on the right side of some luck for a change. (you know what I mean)

I believe that this will be a tough fought game, and if the Lumberton defense plays as it normally does, Nederland's offense is going to have to work very hard to overcome it. I honestly think it's anyone's game. I'm a Raider fan through and through, but even I will not post a brash statement about winning any game in this district, hands down. I didn't even do that for LCM and the poor ol' Bears haven't won a game all season. It's one thing to support your team, it's another to be ridiculous about it. Very well put. Being a Lumberton fan also, I do not take anything for granted and I am just enjoying the success we have had recently!! We will need to stop Grogan first and foremost. We cannot allow him to run all over us like he has just about everybody else. Hopefully, Kirby will have another off night as his play has been very inconsistant. I dont think anybody from Ned will disagree with that.

I really doubt anyone from the outside knows for sure, but I am sure MB is glad he has at least one supporter hoping he isnt going anywhere. :-*

Some L-Town folks could take a few notes. Enough about the announcers!!!! You know your going to an away game, I would not expect anything different when we go play on the road. not in high school. but since you told me it was enough... : My appologies... my intentions were not to tell you what to say or do. It was simply a generalization that people complain about the announcers too much. I expect when we go play at someone elses stadium, for their announcers to be biased towards their team.

I have not heard anything that "Concrete" (Pun intended), I have heard That there is a short list that is being circulated through board members and that that "list" still includes MB. I could not see them making a decision that quick unless they got Alverez locked up already. Should be very interesting this off-season in Port Neches-Groves!

IDK...my K-Ville source is pretty reliable. I have been told that alot of people are upset about the timing of it all, but PNG wanted to make contact to see what his plans were for after the season. I guess there is alot of interest in him from alot of schools.

You are right about last year, but that was all Nederland had last year. Everyone knew then all you had to do was contain their passing game, but this year they have a beast at running back which complicates things for the defense. They do both things well, run and pass, so to expect the same offense as last year would be a mistake. What Lumberton is going to have to do is disguise their defense and confuse the offensive play-calling. Bring 8 or 9 in the box, then all drop down in pass coverage, etc.

If I am not mistaken, this game is just as huge to both teams!!! Central and Nederland are going Big School in the play-offs are tied in the standings. Lumberton and Livingston are going Small School in the play-offs and are tied in the standings. To say this game doesnt matter is a huge mistake to either team. Does anyone know Bellows eligability for this game? I believe he was ejected from last nights game. Does this mean he has to serve a 1 game suspension, or is that not really a rule? That would be a deciding factor for this game.

Well... before last night, I believed Nederland was going to run away with this one, now I am not so sure. Nederland struggled last night way more than I expected. The score looks worse than it actually was. That game was not decided until very late in the 4th quarter. Also, Bellows was ejected and I am not sure of his playing status this week (maybe ineligable). Lets be honest, eventhough Vidor beat Lumberton, Lumberton is a better team. If Nederland struggles like that again this week, they may not get off the hook again. The key to this game will also be Lumbertons QB (Hughes) play. Nederland will stack the box to try and stop the run, so he will need to be able to connect on throws when oppertunities present themselves. Everything you have heard about Nederlands offense is true except that it is even better than that. If Bellows is playing, Lumbertons offense will have to be its best Defense also. This will be a great game, my prediction is that Nederland comes out strong at home... Ned (with Bellows) 31 Lumberton 27 (we always miss at least 1 extra point)

Yeah, I have been to more Ned games this year than I have Lumberton. Mostly, because I live In Nederland Now(5 years)!! Did not make the Livingston game (out of town), but Central could not run between the tackles against Nederland. Besides one or two runs, most of their big gaines came from QB scrambles on 3rd and long. PNG could not run the ball at all and from what I have heard, the QB from Livingston did everything. From what I have seen, Nederlands' trouble is defending the pass. I dont think that is Vidors' or Lumbertons' strong point. Nor do I believe that Lumberton or Vidor has an athlete that can break Nederlands defense down like Central or Livingston.

My prediction... Nederland wins out the rest of the season. Even against my boys on the L-Train. Nederlands has the most balanced offense in the district and the Defense will use the same blue-print they used for the PNG game. Hopefully, Vidor can throw the ball well. Vidor will be surprised they are not able to run the ball against Nederland. Teams that have had success running against Nederland, mostly have a fast QB that they could not contain. Nederland will bust the 40 point mark again in this one... Dawgs - 44 Vidor - 20 ( that maybe a little much)

Lumberton, Livingston, and Central are 4-1 with Lumberton holding all tiebreakers over the Lions and the Jags.... Say it again...I love it when you talk Lumberton football to me...

Hey Scalp, do you hope you're wrong on this one? ;D ??? ;D ??? Heck yea I hope I'm wrong, but gut feeling tells me otherwise. I'm a diehard NDN fan, but I don't wear the purple shaded glasses When Scalm em' starts predicting blow-outs... I get a little nervous. If I recall right, He also predicted PNG to beat Nederland 35-14 and we all know how that one turned out! I for one do not have a good feeling about this one. PNG has nothing to lose and can be a very dangerous team to play at any given time. Lumberton has never beat PNG and maybe thats why I am not as quick to say that L-Train will roll this one. As crazy as the district has been this year, anything can happen. I hope Lumberton is not bringing a knife to a gun fight, because PNG is going to be ready for war Friday night.

Both teams come out and play "Hot Potato" with the football and neither team is prepared or coached properly for their team to win. Penalties take both teams out of scoring oppertunities and offensive drives stall. Should be a great game to go to and cannot wait to see all the highlights on the tailgate party. Final Score: 7-7. Of course I'm kidding. Good Luck to both teams as I also believe the loser of this game is out of the Play-offs.
