Nederland looked very impressive on both sides of the ball.  Beyond their size and speed, their discipline and execution this early was to be complimented.  Obviously, Coach Neuman's staff desires credit and recognition.

Nederland's JV coach has done a great job with those boys.  Coach English has a great program in place.  Varisty has three big sophmores and  the JV continues to be successful. 

All five starters can shoot the three ball....reminds me of a Vidor team Coach E had with Vidor years ago with the big post.  Both the bigs will step behind the line and let it fly.  They are young, but they can shoot.  Nice to have a six foot five kid shoot the three ball.

Heard the Nederland vs Livingston game might be cancelled due to weather conditions...

Nederland 33 to Bridge City 8 at half.....Nederland's Freshmen and JV basketball teams won the Bridge City tournament this weekend.....Both teams beat Westbrook in the championship games on Saturday.......

They could play at Lamar.....

PNG looked good in the first half....why don't more kids play varsity basketball at PNG.....they did not have enough kids to bring off the bench to give the starting five some rest.....I thought that was the difference.....Nederland has 15 or 16 kids on varsity......plenty of kids to bring off the bench for some quality minutes

Looks like poor weather for weekend...how is decision made for postponement of games due to poor weather or lighting strikes? Will games be pushed back a week if games are unable to be played?

I think the two Beaumont junior teams are merging.....only one team from Beaumont in the junior division...... starting this week.....I don't know which division they will be in or how the schedule will change

I agree...Nederland should pack the dome Friday night with dry erase boards that all have positive messages to support to DAWGS....I am not talking about students only.....ALL fans! What a great year for hoops!! ...... Playoffs, 20 win season, beat the State Champs in the YMBL....fantastic...I hope Nederland packs the house to come watch these boys play some great hoop...the dawg dome should be rock-in Friday night!!!!

I have been around a few allstar selection meetings and have found that usually the top eight picks for the team are relatively easy; however, the last two picks for the team are always challenging. Sometimes the last picks are based on maturity levels of the child or how coachable the child is. My brother once coached a little dribblers team and did NOT put in son up for the Allstar team, which I have admired him for eversince. Hope things smooth over out in HF........just a little dribbler dad...

I agree with catman....Ozen, Livingston, and Central are the teams to beat. Nederland has played a few good quarters of basketball, but have played more quarters of pooppy basketball. Against Baytown, they scored only 22 points in three quarters, but in the fourth they scored 25. They are capable of good basketball.

Did you watch the game? Torres had 43....few, if any turn overs.... and would have had 50 if he had made more free throws....I have seen both the guards play from HJ during the summer and both are good, but they were out played Friday night by Torres....no question...you can talk about it, but the game is enough evidence for me.....

who got dominated? HJ looked like a JV team Friday night......who has the better guard? Ned's guard dropped 41 on HJ

beeninnikes, please have the OF coaches contact Brian English for any scrimmages for 10,12,14U. He can be reached at his cell 718-1667. I think Nederland is going to the Kountz tournament March 6-8. If any teams would like to scrimmage please call coach E. We were hoping someone may do something the weekend of 29/1. Our season does not end until March 1, but we may be able to work around our games and host something then if possible.
