  1. Lumberton and Kelly played on Dec. 29th, a game which ended Lumberton 1-0 Kelly. Lumberton faced off against HJ on Jan. 2nd, ending with a scoreline of Lumberton 0-0 HJ
  2. This one is gonna shape up to be a good one. HJ is missing two, maybe three (rumor is that a defensive lineman will be ineligible to play tonight), starters. After the tough loss last year, Liberty will definitely be looking to get back at HJ. Whenever HJ comes to play, however, they're tough to beat. They showed this last week at WOS. HJ also will not want to lose on their homecoming. This one should be a pretty close game.
  3. Aren't Giddings' best two players at WR though? Do you think they would try some trickery and use these guys on the ground?
  4. I sometimes question why he moved #12 Murray, who was ranked at WR, to tailback. I understand that he needed to fix him to the offense but Murray hasn't really gotten many receptions this year, which is odd. I'm sure he has his reasons. Great job from Sloan this year though.
  5. Navarro handled Giddings earlier in the season. The final was 37-21.
  6. From the film I've seen from the Giddings-Connally game, it looks like Giddings didn't really have control until the second half. Without the two kickoff returns, that game would be completely different. Giddings has some good backs and receivers but I haven't seen anything special. I've been told that two of their receivers are committed to D1 schools (one of them was Tech and I can't remember what the other one was) but there's virtually no film of them doing anything besides catching open passes. I'm not trying to belittle a team who does have some impressive wins and is probably better than film shows, but this one could be a lot closer than people think. We'll see on Friday.
  7. Game will be at Bowers Stadium at Sam Houston State, not quite sure what day but possibly friday.
  8. New week, new thread. Survive and advance. Who ya got?
  9. HJ should be predominantly healthy this week. Murray(#12), who got hurt in the OF game, suited up but didn't play much last week against HF. He should be good to go for this week. Other than that, they have a few minor injuries that shouldn't prevent players from getting on the field and doing their jobs well.
  10. Couldn't help but notice there's not a thread for this one. Anybody have any useful info on Shepherd?
  11. This has been the most confusing district in SETX this year, and it's only a 5 team district
  12. Uh oh, classic 2-minute-warning drill for HJ coming up...
  13. Left the game early because I thought HJ was down and out.. Regretting it atm.
  14. Point differential is the 2nd factor that decides seeding. If there's a tie, then it's head-to-head.
  15. OF has to beat HJ by 9 to clinch the #3 seed, so if that happens then Liberty will take #2 and HJ #4. HJ must win 1 of the next 2 to clinch playoffs but must win out to clinch the #2 seed. If HJ beats OF then loses to HF(by some miracle), or if HJ loses to OF by less than 9 and beats HF, then Liberty will take the #2 seed, HJ #3, and OF #4. If you want to see the table, it's in the 12-4A-D2 tiebreaker thread.
  16. Can't say that I've followed OF too closely this season, but I know that they're not an easy matchup for HJ. If HJ plays with the consistency that they showed Liberty, I am without a doubt that they will win this game. HJ was able to take down Liberty by putting together long, scoring drives that ultimately wore down the Liberty defense, which contained a few key factors of their offense. According to the Orangefield preview, it seems as if OF has quite a few important players that play both ways. If HJ can put together a few long drives and get a few scores out of them, they can put OF to sleep in the second half and ride this one straight to the first round of the playoffs versus Madisonville/Tarkington. That is, if their defense is able to contain the Orangefield offense. Should be an interesting one. HJ 42 OF 28
  17. Very interesting thread for the Blitz game of the week..
  18. Yes, of course. I'm not arguing either way when it comes to the decision that is to be made. Rules are rules and we understand why they are in place. As with any rule, however, there should be an elasticity that allows the rule to be broken in certain cases. Parquet is fully deserving to play varsity basketball for WBHS. The decision that is made is the decision that is made, though, and I will not contest it. I was just simply trying to add information that had not yet been presented to the thread.
  19. I don't feel as if it's my responsibility to determine that and I do not want to endanger his chance to play high school basketball so I'm not going to answer that at the moment. I will, however, add a move back to HJ is not an option for Parquet.
  20. I'm entering the conversation slightly late but I feel that I have valuable info on Eli's transfer. I can say with full confidence that there were multiple reasons outside of basketball that caused him to transfer from HJ to WB, and as a former teammate and acquaintance, I can tell you that he was not incorrect in his move, even if one shall consider it a move for "athletic purposes." The fact of the matter is, there was no one factor that led to his transfer, and therefore, as a talented young athlete who gives 100% effort on the court and does it all for his love of the game, he should be permitted to play varsity basketball for his final two years in high school. Although school ball may not greatly impact his recruitment, it is still a motivational piece to put on a jersey and know that you represent not only the kids in that school, but also an entire community.
