Section 2 Senior League games in Jasper for Friday night have been cancelled. No idea what schedule will be.

All games have been moved to the Jasper High School field.

MSU had a great basketball program in the 70's before NCAA/NAIA cracked down on kids getting an actual education  8)

There's not enough talent to overcome bad schemes and lack of coaching.  There is enough talent to be a top 3 team in district.

There's not a single basketball coach I would keep at WB except for 1 and then I might let him coach freshman B team. That is without a doubt the worse "program" in the state of Texas and it starts at the top with the head coach.

FWIW, I was told by a BISD administrator that he was "protected".

West Brook needs to fire their coach but I'm told he is "protected".  Besides, who would want to work in a corrupt school district?

Difference seems to be Coach Brown is taking a more active role. If you watch in the 2nd half, he moves down the bench and is constantly coaching the offense. Against Central, WB had their two sophomores, Zeno & Green, playing a two man game with pick & rolls. Wasn't highly successful (lack of fundamentals) but it was nice to see versus the lone ranger driving the lane and throwing up a shot with hopes it goes in while everyone else watches. But I would say the biggest difference in WB is they are playing some good defense.

West End wins district over Lumberton by a score of 15 to 2 in 5 innings.

Lumberton came from an 8-3 deficit to defeat a scrappy Jasper team 9 to 8. Lumberton is at West End tonight.

They did it to West End the first game. I'm sure they will try to figure out some way to screw them again.

West End 12yo's beat Kountze Saturday night by a score of 15-0 to win the District 12 tournament. West End plays Bridge City (in Bridge City) on Friday, July 17th at 8:00PM.

12yo's - Kountze beat Jasper 15-8 Friday night. Kountze hit 5 homeruns in the game. They will now travel to West End on Saturday night. Amazing run by the Kountze team after losing their first game of the tournament. They fought through 5 games in the loser bracket to make it to the championship game.

12yo's - West End beat Jasper and Kountze beat Kirbyville 10yo's - Lumberton beat West End 4-1 to win District 12 Friday, 7/10/2009 - Jasper 12yo's play at Kountze. Winner will play at West End on Saturday night.
