  1. I would love to see Deweyville step up their non district games a notch. Playing 1a teams did nothing for them to prepare for EC and Hardins offense.Maybe something like this. 1. Orangefield 2. Hardin Jeff. 3. West Hardin(1a,but very competitive) 4.One of the current 24 2a teams if they re-align the district?
  2. We've been playing against Matt Hicks since he was 11 and I would have to say, if there is anyone in this area gonna play pro ball , this is the guy.
  3. After last nights game in Deweyville, I would have to say EC defense is the best OVERALL. Other teams seem to have their strong points, but I did not see a weak link in the EC team.Their secondary is fast and physical. Their front line is solid, and their linebackers look like pit bulls.
  4. Anahuac may have weakest defense in the district according to their record; no match for Hardins explosive offense. Hardin 48 Anuhuac 7
  5. Your right about the outstanding effort that Deweyville put out friday night, In my oppinion some players had the game of their life ie.(Heath) and everyone played an intense game,;but, When a team like Deweyville dresses out 19 players, and all but a few have to play both ways against a top rate physical team like EC , you can't help but start to get physicaly spent after awhile. I'ts not a slam on Deweyville players, it wouldn't matter what team had to play both ways for a whole game. This is where being a bigger school, with more players like EC has the advantage. But this may all change next year with re-alignment?
  6. Should be a good game between two offensive power houses.I think I'd pick EC but not by much.
  7. Final EC 21 Deweyville 0 Four turnovers kept Deweyville in the game, but they were unable to get in the endzone from the 3 and again from inside the 15. EC suites up so many players, they eventually just wore down Deweyville late in the third and fouth quarters.
  8. I heard the same Lady on the radio dogging Buna that most people did, and after reading these post, The only person that should be ashamed of their actions is the Lady who called in talking about something that she knew absolutly nothing about! Good luck Buna.
  9. I don't know about all time, but I would definately say the Hardin Hornets run the best in 2a I've ever seen.
  10. I don't think it was running the score up that a few people were upset with, as much as it was kicking an on-side in the fourth, up by 40. But people have to realize that some coaches like to practice things like that when the game is in hand.
  11. Everyone's talking about warrens defense here; If history won games, Hardin would not have scored 48 points on Deweyville this week! I was there, and believe me Hardin's offense is firing on all cylenders! Hardin 50 Warren 12
  12. I think Deweyville will make this one a little closer than most folks think. They play well with a big home crowd,...but I think EC has just too much talent, and too deep to loose, shoot the way they are playing I'd pick them over West Orange right now! EC 40 Deweyville 26
  13. Congrats Hardin on a well planned, well executed game. I don't see anyone in this district able to shut down that spead offense, except MAYBE East Chambers.I played agaist Marsh's dad, and he was good, but his son is something to watch in the open field!Stelly had a good game, but my hat's off to the O line, They are big and well coached. good luck Hornets.
  14. Deweyville class of 80-present If I could field a team from all past players it would look something like this. Probably some players before my time better than some of these, but I'll go back as far as I can remember. QB- Tiger Shoemake RB- Mark Burks/Zane Williams RB/slot- Keith & Kenneth Bean WR-Trey Craft/Prentice Burks TE-Tracy Moss/Mark Richards Line- Leroy Turner/ Lanny Gibson/ Jimmy Hallaman/ Scott Taylor/ Dalton Estes
  15. I agree Buna will be tough this year, maybe the team to beat, again. But they did not really blow anyone away, they had some close games last year, and from my experience anyone can be beat on any given day. I wouldn't disagree if Buna was picked to win district.
  16. I think every area had strong teams through-out the years, and like wise weaker teams. I can remember some really good teams in 80-82, then a little of a lull, and again in 85-86, strong teams. Then in 90's a year or two strong and a lull. Seems like a cycle, not neccesarily according to years i.e. 80's 90's or today. We had extreemly fast JV team in 83 with at least 7 running under 4.9 and two in the 4.3 range, so speed has always been there. Kids today seem a little bigger, early on, could be something to do with diet? I definatly believe the better teams of 80's could hang with better teams of today.
  17. Low scoring game favors Deweyville, High scoring game favors Hardin. I think Deweyville will pull it out in last minute. 20-19
  18. Newton @#10 East Chambers@#20 I predict they will both move up soon! As well as possibly Buna in top 25 soon.
  19. Man, I can't believe that. Coach Gamble took Deweyville to thier first two Bi-district play-off games back in 80 and 82. He was much younger back then, I think only in second or third year of coaching, and although I was only in the seventh grade, I remember him as a real tough guy and would work you to death in the weight room, and on the field. He went on to coach @ Little Cypress (where I think he got into some trouble) and then had a long spell @ Alto, and took them to several state championships.
  20. Man, from what I've been reading, Hardin is a different ball team from last year. I don't remember their JV being that strong, so they must have had one heck of an off season to improve this much in one year.If they are for real, and as good as everyone saying, then you have to give hats off for one heck off a turn around in one season. Can't wait to see this one. This may very well be for the third play-off spot, as Buna And East Chambers look tough.I still have to go with the Pirates in a close one though; 20-19.
  21. I think these two teams will match up really close. And ball control will win the game. I think Deweyvilles defence is good, even though they have not played a real tough opponent. Vinton had a real good QB with lots of speed and good moves and they contained him pretty well. Only problem is most of these players go both ways, so they have to keep their D off the field and make long sustained drives. I have to go with Deweyville down to the wire in this one. Deweyville 20 Hardin 19
