  1. kogt The Washington Nationals cut ties with John Patterson on Thursday. Patterson, who has battled various arm injuries over the past two seasons, struggled this spring, going 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA in nine innings of Grapefruit League action. "They told me I didn't blow the doors open and that there were other pitchers pitching better," Patterson said. Patterson, 30, was Washington's top starter in 2005, when he went 9-7 with a 3.13 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 198 1/3 innings. But Patterson appeared in just eight games the following year before undergoing season-ending surgery on his right forearm. After battling elbow soreness throughout the first month of the 2007 campaign, Patterson again underwent a season-ending operation. Patterson made just 15 starts over the last two seasons, going 2-7 with a 5.75 ERA over that stretch. He is 18-25 with a 4.32 ERA in parts of six seasons with the Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks. The Astros say they're interested.

The program will list all the players from each of the schools participating. In an effort to have the program completed on time, we ask that each school submit a roster as soon as possible. Rosters must be submitted by Thursday, July 3rd in order to appear in this year's program. A form can be downloaded by clicking here. Please, complete the form, save it, then email it as an attachment to Brandon Houston at [email protected] This is not the official team roster due at registration. That form may be downloaded here. Also, we will need contact information for each school participating in the State Tournament. At least one of the numbers should be a cell phone in the event we need to contact you during the tournament itself. Please, submit this information by completing the online form - Submit Contact Information. You may also submit this information via email to Brandon Houston at [email protected]. 7 on 7 State Tournament Forms: State Tourney Registration Form State Tourney Waiver Map of Penberthy Field (site of State Tournament) Hotel Information (provided by the Brazos Valley Sports Foundation) Football Officials Information: Any football official that would like to officiate at the State 7-on-7 Tournament at Texas A & M University, please contact: Ron Doak - 832-816-5738 [email protected]
