Anahuac girls run to state

Ajante Russell qualified in three events to lead Anahuac’s girls’ track team to the May 9-10 UIL state track meet in Austin.
At last weekend’s Region III-2A meet in Palestine, Russell won the long jump (17-1-1/2) and placed second in the 100 meters. She also ran on the second-place 4x200-meter relay.
Other relay team members are Kia Moulton, Patience Green and Nacorian Thomas. Alternates are Celeste White and Caitlin Coward.
Anahuac’s boys were led at regional by a sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay by the foursome of Stoney Burk, Trent Knupple, Blake Matheson and Pierre Russell.
Others competing at regional for Anahuac’s boys were Juan Anguaino, Denario Williams, Deior McNeil, Aston Guillory, Dewan Childress, Zach Smith, Keith Kingsberry, Trevante Thomas, Devonte Outerbridge and Andrew Knupple.
Other girls competing for Anahuac were Aracelly Rosillo, Jillian Speights, Andrea Roubion and Hunter Hightower.
