Police arrest Rodman after report of dispute at hotel LOS ANGELES -- Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has been arrested for allegedly hitting a woman at a Century City hotel. Los Angeles police say Rodman, 46, was arrested Wednesday night after officers answered a report of a domestic dispute. "During the investigation, police learned he had hit a woman and she suffered injuries to her arms," Richard French, a spokesman for The Los Angeles Police Department, told the Los Angeles Times. Rodman was booked for investigation of felony domestic violence and freed on $50,000 bail early Thursday. One of Rodman's managers, Steve Simon of the Prince Marketing Group, told The Times that Rodman has been dealing with his recent divorce from Michelle Moyer and "heartbroken about" not being able to see his children. "The legal process will sort itself out," Simon said in The Times' report. "I'm kind of waiting for the facts to unfold because it's really uncharacteristic for him."

Lee to get physical in spring wrapups By Michael Pineda Baytown Sun Published May 1, 2008 This week, the Lee football players are using their heads for TAKS testing. Next week they will use their heads for a more fundamental purpose. Butting heads. “When we go back. We’re going to incorporate the Oklahoma drill. We’re going to be more physical,†Lee coach Dick Olin said. “We will take a segment of practice for the Oklahoma drill and it will be taped. We will also do some 11 on 11.†The Oklahoma drill pits two players in a space for legalized hand-to-hand combat. The legendary coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, Bud Wilkinson, developed the drill. It will also give the coaching staff a better look at those who are ready to make an impact next season. “We’re just finding out who will make contact and what we need to work on,†Olin said. TAKS testing comes at a perfect time for the Ganders who are undergoing spring drills for the first time in three years. “It’s really not a change from what we have done in the past,†Olin said. “But for two years we haven’t had spring drills so it’s different from what the kids have experienced.†While no one has suffered an injury of significance, the break does give the team the opportunity to get refocused for the final week of workouts. “In the beginning, everybody is excited,†Olin said. “The first week is full of excitement and in the second week you try to hold on. The third week usually has a lot of drudgery so this gives the kids a break, a change in the routine.†Two that don’t need a change in the routine are Darren Montgomery and Donovan Raymond. Both have had an outstanding spring so far, making an impact on both sides of the ball. Montgomery has lined up at center and nose tackle and has impressed the coaching staff with his ability to come off the ball. Raymond has seen time on the defensive line as well as running back, where he has inserted himself into the mix. “They seem to be having a lot of fun,†Olin said. “They have been jumping in there, ready to play.†On the offensive line, both Xavier Ruben and Tim Smith have also excelled in spring drills as well as Jahwran Goode, who has the opportunity to be a standout receiver for the Ganders next fall as they open play in a newly reconfigured District 21-5A. There are two openings currently on the coaching staff with the loss of Toby Foreman and Scott Joseph. One candidate to fill an opening is former Gander C.A. Shields, who was a member of the regional finalist team in 1997.
