  11. from kfdm.com Lamar University introduced Ray Woodard, Junior, who has been serving as football coach at Navarro Junior College, as its new head football coach during a news conference Monday afternoon. Woodard had been staying at the MCM Elegante prior to the news conference. When KFDM News called Woodard's room Monday morning and spoke with him, we congratulated him on the LU coaching job - and he told us "thank you." Woodward then added, "I'm here for the crawfish boil. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it - until two this afternoon." Woodward has been the head coach at Navarro Junior College for one year. He is married and has one daughter. He'll begin recruiting a staff and players, and the team is expected to begin playing in 2010. A multi-million dollar renovation project is underway at Cardinal Stadium to prepare for football. Students have approved an athletic fee and the university is raising millions of dollars from private donors to help pay for the return of football, and regents still have several decisions to make in the process. Watch Live at 5 and KFDM News at 6 and 10 for more on the announcement of Ray Woodard as the new LU head football coach.
