Lidge gets save in return as Phillies top Astros 7-5 There were a handful of boos and a smattering of cheers. None of it seemed to matter to Brad Lidge. Lidge, whose topsy-turvy tenure as closer put Astros fans on an emotional roller coaster, made a triumphant return to Minute Maid Park on Thursday night and stuck it to his former team. Lidge got former teammate Lance Berkman to fly out to left field to end the game and secure the Phillies' 7-5 win over the Astros, who saw their two-game winning streak snapped. Entering the game in the ninth to a mixed reaction, Lidge struck out Michael Bourn - who was among the players the Phillies traded away to get Lidge - and got Kaz Matsui to ground out before Miguel Tejada shot a two-out single to right. Those left in the crowd of 29,263 rose to their feet when Berkman came to the plate. But he swung at the first pitch - a fastball - and popped out to left field to secure his 12th save. Berkman, who was 1-for-10 in the first three games of the home stand, returned to form by going 3-for-5. Third baseman Ty Wigginton returned to the lineup after two days off and had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. After scoring three times in the sixth to erase a 5-2 deficit, the Astros watched their bullpen give up a pair of runs in the eighth. Pat Burrell hit a pinch hit homer off Wesley Wright, and Chase Utley drove in run against Fernando Nieve to make it 7-5. The Astros took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Lance Berkman's two-out double that scored Miguel Tejada from first base. Tejada reached on a fielder's choice that wiped out Michael Bourn at second. Astros starter Roy Oswalt needed only pitches to breeze through the first inning, making a diving catch on a Jimmy Rollins pop up to open the game, before toiling through a 28-pitch second inning. But Oswalt limited the damage to just one run despite allowing three hits and walking one batter in the inning. The Phillies tied the game on Carlos Ruiz's bases-loaded single, and the Astros took a 2-1 lead in the second on Brad Ausmus' sacrifice fly. The first four batters reached against Oswalt in the third, with Ryan Howard driving home Shane Victorino with a double and Pedro Feliz scoring Chase Utley with a single. Howard scored on a Geoff Jenkins sacrifice fly to make it 4-2. Howard blasted a home run to left field - his 13th of the year - to lead off the fifth and put Philadelphia ahead 5-2. It was the 15th homer allowed this season by Oswalt, who gave up 14 last year. Oswalt went six innings and allowed 11 hits and five earned runs. The Astros chased Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick in the sixth. Kendrick hit Carlos Lee with a pitch to start the inning and gave up a single by Hunter Pence before Wigginton ripped a two-run double to left. Kendrick was pulled after Ausmus pushed Wigginton to third with a sacrifice bunt, and pinch hitter Geoff Blum greeted reliever J.C. Romero with a game-tying single to left.

Southeastern Louisiana 7 @ UT Arlington 3 Final -
[Hidden Content]= Despite missing almost his entire junior season with an injury to the ligaments in his ankle, Dayton (TX) four-star quarterback Cody Green has not seemingly lost any stock among college recruiters. Cody Green only has two more campus visits planned The 6-foot-4, 220 pound signal-caller has been cleared for full contact by his doctors but he has not had a chance to experience that just yet. "We're not really doing spring ball," said Green. "We're doing offseason and I'm doing everything at full speed but our coach chose to have us start earlier in the fall instead of having spring ball." Coaches have still been making their way out to the Southeast Texas school, however. "Coach (Tom) Rossley from A&M came down here the other day and he also called me," said Green. "He was basically just saying that I need to come visit them again. There have been a bunch of other coaches stop by as well. I've seen ones from pretty much every school that is recruiting me." Green has been to the Texas A&M campus several times over the past few months and recently made a visit to Stillwater to check in with Oklahoma State. "I already made a trip to Oklahoma State," he said. "I went up there about a month and a half ago. It was real cool. Their facilities are gonna be crazy. It's like they have an unlimited budget or something." There are a few more places Green would like to visit before making a commitment. "This summer I'm planning to go to an Elite 11 Camp, probably the one in California," he said. "Other than that, I'm gonna try to make it up to Nebraska and then to Mississippi State." The Cornhuskers are a relatively new program on the radar for Green but he says they have made quite an impression. "Nebraska has really been recruiting me pretty heavily," he said. "They and A&M seem to be recruiting me the hardest right now. I like both programs but I'm still pretty open at this point." Green does not have a definitive timetable set for a decision, but he does hope to make it sooner rather than later. He is planning to graduate in December and that has sped up the process a bit. "I hope to have a decision made by the beginning of the season," said Green. "I don't know, though, because the Nebraska coaches keep telling me how great the game day environment is up there and I sort of want to see that. I don't know for sure yet, but yeah, hopefully it will be done by the beginning of fall. That way, I can concentrate on my senior season and then get ready to make it to campus in January."

[Hidden Content]= Kirbyville safety Broderick Jackson moved to the small Southeast Texas school from the much-larger Humble High on the outskirts of Houston prior to his sophomore year. The 5-foot-11, 201 pound athlete actually played some games on Humble's varsity as a freshman and his skill showed up quickly at his new home. Kirbyville safety Broderick Jackson says Texas A&M is his current top school This past season, while playing both running back and safety, Jackson helped lead the Wildcats to the third round of the state playoffs and an 11-2 overall record. He was named first-team all-district on both sides of the ball. For his efforts, he has gained notice among college coaches. "Stanford, Rice, Baylor and A&M are the ones that are showing the most interest now," said Jackson. "Texas A&M, Baylor, SFA and Rice have all said they're close to offering and Baylor, I'm supposed to call them and I think they're gonna send a written offer." However, there are two schools that seem to be standing out at the moment. One of them has caught Jackson's eye while the other has impressed his mother. "I was actually just calling the Stanford coaches to see if they had checked my transcript," Jackson said on Wednesday evening. "They said I should be fine but I'm waiting to know for sure before they offer. My ACT is a 24 and my GPA was a 2.9 before my junior year but it should be a 3.2 now. "My mom really likes the school. That's far for me but she really likes it. A&M's my first choice but my mother likes Stanford so I was just checking in on them." Recently, Aggie coaches have made a couple of trips out to the school and Jackson says he keeps in touch with them as well. "Coach Jim Turner is my area recruiter for A&M," he said. "He used to be in the Marines. He's a real cool guy. I also talk to (A&M safeties) coach Malone. I call him every week. He says they like my film." After new head coach Mike Sherman was hired, Jackson says he wasn't sure if the Aggies were still going to recruit him like the former staff had been. "When they got a new coaching staff, I didn't really know if they'd still be interested and everything," Jackson said. "I went to a junior day but I didn't tell them ahead of time. I just walked in and they weren't expecting me so I guess they really didn't know who I was then since they were brand new. "Probably about four weeks ago, coach Turner came to watch us work out and talk to my coach and everything. Then, the second visit he came, he brought the defensive coordinator (Joe Kines) with him so I was like, 'Okay, I guess they're interested for real.' "They wanted to see what kind of person I was and everything before they decided to offer or not. That's why they talked to my coach and did all their research and everything." Jackson is close to current Aggie quarterback Jerrod Johnson from when they were both at Humble. The two keep in contact and Jackson says he looks to Johnson for guidance in the process. "I've talked to Jerrod some lately," said Jackson. "He's in Humble right now working out so, when school lets out, that's where I'm gonna go for like two weeks or so and work out. I wanna see how he likes it at A&M as far as with the new staff and everything." As far as a timetable for a commitment, Jackson says he does not have a definitive one. "I don't know yet," he said. "I know one thing I don't wanna happen – when signing day comes around I don't wanna be sitting there high and dry. I'll probably try and commit somewhat early, maybe this summer." As a junior, Jackson finished with 98 total tackles and four interceptions on defense. On offense he rushed for 785 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging close to seven yards per carry.
