1.
Things are certainly beginning to smell fishy. If this is a very sought after HCAD job, as reported, then why in the world is a comittee(that was repordadly formed to get the publics opinions) contacting coaches? In my opinion, this is recruitment. After all I have said, I am starting to lean towards grad's take on this. Something Is NOT right. All the "contacted" coaches have a common denominator that has NOTHING to do with ability. If the speculation I have learned is true, then that is down right wrong. It has come to rumor(and i use that lightly) that this "comittee" was formed in order to find reasons NOT to give the job to Thompson. If that is true, then all the once again, "rumors" of the great new leadership is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. This is starting to look like a personal agenda rather than a "TRANSPARENT" fair process. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I am now officially worried, negating my previous posts. I really hope I have put my foot in my mouth. Trust me, this is the one time I pray that I am wrong.
I'm with you Kicker along with several others i've talked to the last several days. WHY go contacting Coaches in Dallas etc?
 2. From smoaky.com Mike Owens will not be T.I.S.D. Athletic Director Tyler Lee head football coach Mike Owens was informed on Friday afternoon that his name has been removed as a candidate to become the next athletic director at Tyler Independent School District. When contacted late Friday afternoon, Owens told David Smoak, "The director of human resources (Sharon Roy), came to my office this afternoon and told me I would not be moving on to the final round for the AD's position. She's been around here a long time like I have and I think she wanted me to know person to person what direction they were taking rather than just send some random email or letter." When asked if he was surprised, Owens said, "What do you think?" He added, "I was told they had some finalists who have experience running multiple program school districts. I guess spending fifteen years with this school district wasn't enough experience, on top of my years running multiple schools within the athletic department in Port Arthur." Tyler I.S.D. will continue their search with approximately 3-5 finalists as they look to replace Danny Long who left for a similar position at Conroe I.S.D. David Smoak

 6.
I guess my only issue is why did the committee actively go out and recruit applicants.  I mean I'm all for following all the laws concerning this, but why seek certain individuals?  post the opening, let those who wish to apply do so.  Dot all the i's and cross all the T's, follow the rules to the letter of the law.  But thier should be no doubt in anyones mind that Coach T deserves the chance.  But obvioulsy there is some doubt in someones mind.
But obvioulsy there is some doubt in someones mind. Your correct there!!!
 7. Oh i know since another WO-S coach applied, i meant that if only Coach T applied it didn't have to be opened. I just confirmed that with 3 different coaches.
 8.
The fact that two coaches from within the district applied for the AD/HC job is not the reason for the interviewing process.  The only time a district can fill a position from within without interviewing for the open spot is if the move is a lateral move.  For instance if WOS had two AD's for some reason the remaining AD could just be named the AD.  This happens all the time with Asst. Principals.  Since the AD/HC would be a promotion for either WOS coaches, the interviewing process was unavoidable.
You 100% sure about that?
