  2. Port Arthur to host regional qualifier track meet Apr. 21 Anonymous The Port Arthur News The Port Arthur News Thu Apr 07, 2011, 12:04 AM CDT VIDOR — For the first time in the city’s history, Port Arthur will host a high school track and field regional qualifier meet. Memorial boys track coach Darrell Granger announced to The News that a regional qualifier meet would be held Thursday, Apr. 21 at the PAISD auxiliary track. The Golden Triangle has not served as host for a regional qualifier meet in more than two decades. Athletes have had to travel to venues such as The Woodlands, Brenham, Pearland, and San Augustine just to compete in a meet on a week between the district and regional meets. “Our facility is in great shape being resurfaced and we would encourage coaches from schools throughout Southeast Texas to bring their athletes here and participate,” Granger said. Any coaches or school officials should contact Darrell at 984-4067 or e-mail [email protected]. Port Arthur is interested in having the event on the auxiliary field annually.
