Is what it is.. this district had some great players and everyone knew it was going to be tough picks.. just shocking on some.

OF coach is stellar!! This man has fought on and off the court for his players year after year! Best Coach by Far!!!

Politics involved in everything!! listening to coaches they get together to get the kids on their team recognition in the way the votes go - I’m not saying every coach but there are some in this district! It will come out when the post for 3A is release - we have all seen these kids play we know who showed up and who didn’t - It is tough to have so many great kids and only few spots.. looking at that list for Orangefield is ludicrous! You have one of the best defensive players in my opinion as a second team player along with scales one of the best freshman in the district .. thats where you can really tell politics is involved - I don’t even know of another kid on Kountze that stood out and I watched 4 of their games. I would not have been so shocked if Perrault was district MVP because they won district. But newcomer total shock.. don’t get me wrong sells is an amazing player. That kid is gonna go far and one of my favorites.

I heard #10 maybe newcomer? I haven’t seen just heard.

I normally don’t post but WOW!! Congratulations Pete Ragusa!! This is a great honor.. felt you were robbed a little for District MVP. Definitely a shock for Sells to get it over Ragusa/Perrault on top of New comer of the year which should have been Scales hands down! Team couldn’t make it to playoffs.. Sells is good don’t get me wrong but he did not lead his team to a playoff - It happens.. you can’t win a game solo. You have a Ranked Player #77 in the state and #12 in the state as combo guard averaging 25pts per game, put 40 on Kountze (against District MVP and New Comer) lead a team to round 3 in playoffs with almost or at 2k points in 3 years of High School.. you are the MVP over the district in my opinion. I really can’t wait until the districts post!! Going to make these coaches look ridiculous! Should be ashamed.. all politics involved. Vote on Stats not you yourself looking good! You know who you are! You have some of the best kids in the district as 2nd team and honorable mention. Pitiful!

I agree this is the same group that won district both 7th and 8th. He has a bunch of talented kids coming up.

All great players! Should be based off stats and coaches votes. when OF played EC number 15 was their man on the court! Not taking anything away from Perrault but he wasn’t the high scorer. A lot should be taken into consideration when picking district titles. There are many great players on all of these teams.

I agree if #1 did not get hurt in the 1st half I think this would have been a better outcome! Silsbee is great and most competitive team we play - I know how they felt when BU put 30 on them as well.. another great team. OF has great shooters just off that night! I think it will be a different outcome in game 2 against OF and Silsbee. Hats off to Silsbee they had a great night!

As a cheer mom - let me tell the real story .. the rules state- that the cheer routine should not go over 2 minutes ..basically get off the field we have a football game to play..lol - but this took hours of preparing to get it just right.. and from what I was told Lumberton went over 3 minutes (not really sure if that is accurate or not didn't watch the video) but from the looks of that team they obviously do cheer competition a lot and should know that there is a time limit .. I am not an all out cheer mom - I could take it or leave it - my daughter cheers because my son plays football - but I think these mom's had a valid reason to be a little crazy .. this is hours of practice for several weeks with a lot of challenges.. so if Lumberton did go over the time limit of a minute.. that benefited lumberton to gain a lot more points and they only got deducted 2 points!!! If anyone should be pissed it should be the OF coaches - Lumberton only won by 7 points to OF( so I was told ) which in my opinion they should have been deducted at least 10.. but what can you do - take a trophy away from little girls because coaches can't follow rules!!! And then take overall .. WOW .. so yes Cheer Mom's can be a little crazy - even get the blue ribbon for being insane - from the insanity we put up with during football season listening to all the cheers and chants during the football games- to getting to weeks of practicing for a cheer competition (which is crazy itself )only to get out there to compete against 5 teams and 4 out of 5 teams follow the rules and the ones who didnt...take first and overall .. little disappointing.. I am an orangefield mom- All these mom's on all teams put a lot of time in for their daughters and they all should be proud .. this was OF first year to do this with not one single cheer competition girl on this team and took 2nd to Lumberton girls who are obviously good. So yes do I feel like we got the short end of the stick? Absolutely - but there is nothing we can do about it.. hopefully next year everyone follow rules..
