  1. Calvin Murphy may babble about nothing... but he cracks me up. My 10 y.o. son loves listening to Little C and we will listen every afternoon on our way to practice. Glad to have "the greatest of all times" back!
  2. with rumors around about some seniors quitting mid-season... is there ANY reason or circumstance that would justify someone quitting a varsity sport mid-season? Other than injury or some serious academic problems, I can't think of any.
  3. How can you fault anyone from BC for wanting to move? on a second note... that fact that someone named CardDad09 has only posted one time tells me the post probably came from a regular "poster" to this site, who probably made another screen name just to stay anonymous.
  4. Little Cypress 7th grade b team 22 St. anne's 22 Little Cypress 7th grade a team 14 ( -ish ) something close to that! St. anne's 30 ( -ish ) sorry, but can't remember exact score
  5. As for criticizing LCM coaching staff... we as outsiders cannot fully understand why the program appears to be failing at this time. We can however, make observations and question why things are the way they are ( without implying the coaches are bad people or even bad coaches for that matter ) : 1) why does there seem to be such apathy within the football program? 2) why are some of the better athletes at LCM not playing football? 3) why isn't the athletic director more involved in the community? 4) why do we keep hearing about apathy, uninvolvement, and disorganization all the way down to the junior high level? These are legitimate questions that at some point should be asked. Those of us who ask the questions should not be looked at as "nonsupporters" of the program. I am sure the coaches are fine men and only want the best for LCM and its students. But at some point, you have to look back over the last few years, and come to the conclusion: It's not working. I hate to say it... and I know you are doing your best... but it just ain't working. Sorry.
  6. td, sadly enough, we had plenty of room... for you, your family, your truck, trailer, 4wheelers, etc... until LCM is competitive, the stands will be scatterred only with parents of the kids participating. WOS football is attended not only by the parents, but even people who live outside the community. Kinda like WOS fans coming to watch LCM baseball
  7. I will start by saying I am an LCM fan, alumni and parent... If last nights atmosphere at our stadium doesn't spell out CHANGE is needed... i am not sure what does. I saw several of our administrators there and SURELY they saw what everyone else saw... winning is not everything, but let's be honest... if the team is not competitive, NO ONE other than parents of the team, band and drill team will be in the stands. Good football fills the stands. To drive home that last point, I will be in West Orange Friday watching the mustangs. I want the best for LCM and the community. Something has got to change... very, very sad.
  8. I don't think the LCM fans care about that. Every single one of them that I have talked to said they would rather lose 100 to 0 than quit. amen!
  9. what's coming? a news story or a game?
  10. you saying this because there has been no comment.... or are you saying this because someone at LCM is saying they are standing by the decision?
  11. quote from beaumont enterprise: Vidor coach Jeff Mathews said his team will play at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Houston St. Thomas. "We've got to play it either way," Mathews said. "The only way to get better is to play games."
  12. It is amazing that everyone else has either already rescheduled or in the process of rescheduling their game... LCM seems to be the only team in the area unable to play this week: [Hidden Content]
  13. The Little Cypress Junior football team ( age 9 and 10 ) practiced for two hours today... and yes we play Saturday!
  14. “This has nothing to do with the game being against West Orange,†Moody said. “If we played on Saturday it would give us a short week to prepare for Bridge City. People are saying we would have two days to prepare. It really is one day of full practice on Thursday and Friday is pre-game. I would like our team to be prepared. We cannot afford to get someone injured. It is about us and getting better for district. I didn’t think playing Saturday was best for us and that is what it is all about.†Can someone please explain two things to me: 1) Since Bridge City is ALSO a non-district game, what does it matter if you have a short week to prepare? The game doesn't count in your quest for the playoffs!!!! 2) How does NOT playing a game make you "better for district"?
  15. First, I want to say for the record, I am both an LCM alum and parent of an LCM high school student... This whole situation is embarassing. I feel for the entire community but mostly for the kids. This "cancellation" goes WAY beyond two coaches and two football teams. Our school administration needs to wake up and fix this situation NOW!!! This is ridiculous. And please don't tell those of us in the LCM community it cannot be fixed... because it can. The kids deserve it. And while I am getting stuff off my chest, I cannot believe our athletic director did not address the crowd at our community pep rally last week. That whole arrangement has to change. Over half the crowd left before it was even half way over. There was absolutely no "pep" in that "rally". Boring..... As for you mustangs... maybe Coach Hooks can have an intra-squad scrimmage. Myself, along with many other LCM fans, would love to come watch.
  16. thanks... i'll take a large ( slim fit ) shirt... if you have matching pants to offer, i wear 30" waist. My favorite memory from last year's game... predicting from the very moment I arrived at Dan Hooks stadium that a golf cart would not restrict Dan from argueing a call out on the field... only to watch it being played out live right in front of me later in the game. He actually was driven out onto the field in his golf cart to "discuss things" with the officials. funny stuff!
  17. As an LCM fan and parent, I support Coach Moody and his players 100%! However, if I am to be completely honest, when the "bojo" slogan came to light... i cringed a little. Good luck to both teams... God bless.
  18. Actually, it does matter who is thunder. Thunder is just a lot a noise and has never hurt anyone. As for the lack of seats on the visitor's side.... don't worry TD, I have a seat for you and Coach Dave right beside me on the 50 yard line! You might as well splurge on that green/gold shirt... we both know you will be wearing one before JD graduates. Good luck to both teams.
  19. quarterback for CC has lightening speed! CC was definitely the better team tonight but the game should have been closer. LCM made several mistakes that were crucial... like fumbling at the goal line in the second half. Good game by Richard #16 for LCM... kid has good "vision" when running the field.
  20. This may or may not be appropriate to ask... but does anyone care to give specifics on exactly what happened and/or expound on the circumstances that led up to the event? just curious...
  21. The purpose of my last post was simply to correct some errors of "fact" that were listed in a prior post. I hate to see all of Orange depicted as sore winners and uncivilized fans. It is my opinion that TC was an excellent tournament host. The fields were in excellent shape and the people were more than hospitable. The competition was great and it appeared 99% of the crowd was supportive of all kids. As an Orange fan, I do NOT believe in any way that any of the actions/oversights that occurred during the tournament were intentional. Hosting a tournament is very daunting task I am sure it can be overwhelming at times. Kudos to sour lake and their fans for such a great weekend. I do own up to the fact that we had a small number of fans who apparently acted inappropriately. I have been around kid sports for years, and unfortunately it happens on a much too frequent basis - on many teams... not just Orange. Let's all join together and put an end to it. Next time you see anyone showing poor sportsmanship at your child's game ( especially if he/she is on your team ), be a "man" and very tactifully correct the situation. Once again, thanks to all the TC fans/staff for hosting such a wonderful tournament... and to Orange : GOOD LUCK IN DALLAS! God bless, "jf"
  22. not that it really matters, but here are a few statements of FACT in response to the last post: 1. the "water incident" was corrected in the 3rd inning, not prior to the game. 2. although she apparently was provoked by OTHER fans, the TC announcer was rude to some very innocent Orange fans who just happened to walk up to get clarification on the date of the championship game ( the bracket said friday and she was announcing thursday ). 3. MANY Orange fans complimented numerous players on other teams throughout the tournament. 4. Orange did not intentionly start taking pictures prior to the completion of the awards ceremony. The ceremony was OVER when someone from TC apparently realized they had forgotten to hand out the well deserved homerun title to one of their own. Once realized, a TC coach made a dash to the pa system to acknowledge the child ( rightly so ) before all the TC fans had left the ball park. 5. Sometimes fans exhibit bad behavior. Unfortunately, we had one of our own fans act out in a very irresponsible manner. I make no excuses for him but please don't "paint us" all with the same brush. Orange has some great fans... fans that enjoy great talent, no matter what color uniform they wear. Some great ball was played in TC. Let's not ruin it by letting our emotions get the best of us. God bless, Jesusfreak "Do to others as you would have them do to you" (Luke 6:31).
