  1. I really don't place much stock in the rankings, especially at this time of year. You may not remember, but at one time BC was ranked number two in the state. And if not for having to play in a brutal district, they probably would have rolled into the regional finals still ranked at least that high considering that BC knocked off the "number one". And if LE loses a game at state, you will now call them "losers"? I hope not.
  2. Both teams are bringing back a lot of talent. It could happen.
  3. I suggest you do web searches on the Corpus area newspapers. That probably will tell you more about them than anyone in SE Texas will know. Sinton really is too far away for us to know much, other than that they are a perennial baseball power. But you probably already know that. I do know they sent a pitcher to UT Austin recently. He has been a star for them: Adrian Aliniz is the name; hope I have the spelling correct.
  4. All the teams are very good at the state tourny. Also fact, all but one will have to go home with another loss on their record. That will not make them "weak", it will just be the way the ball bounces, and no one knows for sure who will be the "winner" and "losers". They truth is, they will all be winners for having made it so far. Jasper has gone to the state tournament before with perhaps the "favorite" label, but that not once helped them win a state championship. We Dogs are just hoping that this is the year that things will fall their way. Let's play ball.
  5. you can have district next year as long as we can have the regional title. ;D
  6. i shouldn't ask a question that i don't know the answer to, but besides region III, how many districts had two teams in the regional finals? And BC had to take out undefeated Number One Carthage to get there. I cannot remember how many posts I had seen throughout the season that was there ANYBODY in Texas who could beat Carthage. Well, now we know, yes. Playing in District 21-3a was like being in the state tournament almost every game. Now, Jasper may fall flat on its face Wednesday. It would not be the first time, but that is what they are talking about the competition level. Of course, every team that has made it to the state tournament is tough. We Dogs are looking forward to the return to the state tournament. It has been a long time coming. But it has not been so long that Jasper will be surprised by the experience. The Dogs have exceeded all expections this year. They were picked by most for third in district, if that much. They are loose and relaxed and ready to play some more baseball.
  7. JHS_Alumni05, I know how you feel. I had some of those feelings myself, but I think it best to hold the comments. There is always next year. No need to fuel the fire for next year. I satisfied myself by pointing out that BC could play for revenge if they wanted to, but that Jasper was playing to go to the state tournament. And they achieved their goal. I think that says it all. Again, congrats to the Dogs.
  8. hey, i bet we can find a jasper cap for you! ;D
  9. i had supper there tonight. somehow, it seemed a bit "sour'.
  10. hey, there are worse things in life than being from jasper! ;D you could be from harrisburg.. or mlc ;)
  11. Thank you 12! I talked to your grandfather and two aunts today. They are mighty proud of you!!! I hope you have a great career at Lamar (until you play Sam ;D).
  12. yes, jasper in 3! BC, you had a great season! Sorry the "payback" didn't go your way.
  13. Congratulations to Bridge City for having a great season! And you folks who wish you had another coach, careful what you wish for. You may get one who never has an opportunity to lose a playoff game. 8) ;D To be starting freshmen at third and short, I think your BC coach did one heckuva job to just get the team to the regional finals.
  14. then that be Jasper because Reagan definitely threw fewer pitches.
  15. Who knows? For Jasper, we probably will all be surprised! In all honesty, with Mixon, it could be anybody.
  16. In defense of the coach, is it not a "common strategy" to walk a right handed batter to get to the lefty, since Stringer is a lefty? By the book, it SHOULD have worked. And set up a play at any base. Hart can fly to first, and with someone on second, that speed was neutralized. Sure, Bronson messed up the move with a triple (most likely just a double for an average human), but that does not mean it was a bad strategy. I think the coach should be given the benefit of the doubt on this one.
  17. Yes, there were some. Jasper scored 3 runs on only one hit, which did not figure in the scoring. Running like crazy helped also.
  18. Both teams have a fair amount of base running speed. That can put pressure on the defenses.
  19. Everyone will second guess the coach. But if you know the two athletes in question, I think it was a calculated chance to take not just Hart out of the next inning, but also Bronson, who probably are Jasper's fastest base runners. Hart on first SHOULD have been a safe set-up with a runner in front of him. Bronson just messed up the calcuations with the triple. But he has really been stroking the ball. On second thought, probably not a smart thing to walk Hart. ???
  20. i think it was just a case of nerves for both teams. should be different tomorrow.
  21. count 1-2, 2 out strike out. Jasper wins 8-6.
  22. Stringer batting. hits ball, base hit.
  23. One out, Jackson batting. foul out. One out to go.
