  1. Ozensfastest, I agree we here in mustang land are glad you are in BMT, because it seems that most of the coaches we had from BMT have not really worked out, so you stay there and we will continue to win here. We will also continue to send you our flunkies, but thank you for your input!!
  2. Very glad to have you back. My nephew will be a freshman next year and I know he was real happy to hear Toby is back. It is always better to have as many ex-mustangs on the staff as possible. I wish we could get Locks back as well. Hopefully he can get the "O" back to what it was in 05 and 06 when he was there, just wasn't the same this year. I do feel better now with Coach T on Defense and Toby on the Offense! Good Luck Stangs in 2008!!
  3. WE WILL ALWAYS PLAY GREAT DEFENSE AS LONG AS WE HAVE COACH T!! THE OFFENSE IS A DIFFERENT STORY!!
  4. Hopefully we can gain more first downs, gain more touchdowns, and gain more wins!! I think that is what all WOS fans stand to GAIN!! Sportsfreak2008 what do you have to lose by someone that has been around WOS for a while, coming back and coaching? Why are you so bothered by this?
  5. Ozensfastest when you say kids being motivated, you are rite on the money. It is the COACHES job to get these kids MOTIVATED!! Some coaches can and some can't. I don't care how many young kids you have, there is NO WAY that a team that has had that much success CANT WIN ONE GAME!! Im sorry but that is in part COACHING. You are correct on the overall track statement IMO. Kids these days really don't have the same desire to run or do anything difficult for that matter. SCRAP, I definately agree the WOS Baseball program needs young blood that has also been in the system. Michael Thompson??
  6. Did you ever think for a minute that maybe it isn't the coaches it's the kids... Ozen's Fastest, don't get me wrong, I know the talent has dropped in some of those sports especially girls basketball. You mean to tell me that a team can go to 4 out of 5 regional tourny's and then not win ONE game. The only player that was back was ran off. Im sorry, but that is mostly coaching!!
  7. How can it be a youth baseball problem if all of the LCM and WOS kids play in the same youth leagues? TD, I know that you are not on here talking about a coach from WOS not living up to expectations after you have thrown a fit like a 8 year old little girl when people were getting on the OC. You can't have it both ways!! HYPOCRITE!!! I think it's more about discipline and accountability. When WOS was good and we were good for alot of years, it wasn't all talent. Just like WOS in football and LCM in baseball. They are held accountable for their actions. They are both fundamentally sound. The opposite has been true recently in WOS baseball and LCM football. That being said I do realize that you have to have some talent.
  8. This is about how good mlc aka bozo will be next year. Their varsity had 2 wins, jv 0 wins, freshman 1 win, and their coach has applied for every head coaching job in the state. I think the mlc schoolboard and administration should be commended for hiring such a great athletic leader. Lets see he has been there less than two years, ran almost every coach off, ran off alot of talent, and has destroyed the football program. GO BOJO!!!!!!
  9. I hope Michael does come and get this job, at least whoever gets the job next will bring the Certa/Bearden Tourney back. Whoever hired the guy that just got fired needs needs to re-examin the hiring process. What has happened to WOS athletics? 2007 Baseball TWO WINS!! 2007 Girls Volleyball ZERO WINS!! 2007/2008 Girls basketball ZERO WINS!! 2007 Girls and Boys Soccer combined for a total of FOUR WINS!! Someone told me the other day that the girls track team doesn't even have enough girls out for a relay team!! For years I didn't think that coaching really mattered much at WOS, but the last 365 has proved me wrong! Losing McCarter, Orebo, Foreman, and Westbrook hurt more than I thought it would!!
  10. That is a very surprising list of names for a 3a school. Just think how long that list would be if Coach Hooks were to retire.
  11. In an earlier post by the thrillguy, there was a statement the Cornel Thompson had been fired from Palestine, which was completely false, but it got me to thinking, has there ever been a WOS coach fired from a coaching job. The only person I could come up with is glen hill, who was fired by Coach Hooks and latered fired by the head coach at Silsbee. You know if memory serves me correctly, mr. hill lives in Lumberton. What a coincedence thrill HILL from Lumberton, and glen HILL from Lumberton. You know the sad thing for WOS fans is the fact that mr. hill couldn't keep his job at Silsbee, because they have been alot better coached and alot tougher to beat since his departure. Anyways, I guess this is just one big coincedence!!
  12. The last time coaches got on this board and made questionable comments about one of our own, they were run out of town. If you don't believe me just ask them Foster, Viola, and Waguspack. You have not been in town long enough to be commenting on things that you are just becoming a part of. My advice to you is SILENCE!!
  13. Shouldn't you be teaching your class 071904? Maybe in some districts, such as lets just say Anahuac, it is ok to play on the computer all day, but at WOS that is not the way things work!!
  14. I hear that there will definately be a change this coming season. Not sure exactly what that will be, but there will definately be a change from what I hear.
  15. There have been a total of 39 bond election's up for vote this year in the state of Texas. The only one that didn't pass is the one at WOS. That is embarrassing!!!
  16. 77, if you are referring to why I brought up the other schools in the county, that was just to show how supportive that other schools and there communities had come together and worked out a way to better there sports facilities. There was definately nothing intended in the comment. If you read the second sentence of the head of the board, that pretty much sums up his stand on athletics, "NOT GOING TO HAPPEN." I really don't think that hb or a few others reside in that buiding from time to time would even care if they did away with athletics all together. However, at the end of the day they have to ask themselves, what is ONLY thing that has SUCCESS, and sheds a POSITIVE light on WOCCISD. The answer is ATHLETICS, and especially FOOTBALL. Both of which are run by the guy who has been there longer than hb and any other person that works in that main building, and that is Dan R. Hooks. There is absolutely NEVER one thing that has been given to the athletic programs at WOS without somekind of fight, and that is a shame. Congrats to Coach Hooks and Staff, yall are truly the Rodney Dangerfields of Orange Texas. THE WOS MUSTANGS, THE WINNINGEST FOOTBALL TEAM IN THE STATE OF TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. The sad thing is if this is true, the first thing to be cut out of this bond will be anything involving athletics. There is a very very Sneaky bunch of characters that are pretending to be administrators at WOS. One thing that has been successful through the years has been the athletics. I understand that athletics is not the reason kids go to school, but that is the main reason that alot of these kids stay in school and get better educations. That is why I have no problem voting for the turf. As many scholarships that have been recieved through football, or overall athletics at WOS is amazing. A reward of such to me would not be to outrageous. It is just hard for me to believe that mlc can get support for an amazing new weightroom and scoreboard, vidor can get support for an unbelievable new gym and fieldhouse, bc can get support for a very nice gym, and orangefield can get support for a very nice gym. On the other hand we have ex-players, I mean a kicker(go stangs), that says he wouldn't even support the bettering of our facilities. That is ashame!! Sure the stangs will continue to win on grass, but that is not the point. The point is that this was actually a chance to give our kids something nice, as a reward for years of EXCELLENCE, and we can't even get the support of some our old players(I mean a kicker). What is even more amazing is that all those idiots that sit up in the stands and rip on our coaches and claim that they are screwing our kids, they are so lazy they wont even get off of the sofa or the street corner and vote. Maybe they are saving there energy for there friday night drunken tantrums. All in all I find it apauling that every other school in our can find a way to help there athletic facilities, but the people of orange really just don't care. Thank you to the people that actually did vote yes on both bonds.
  18. Just curious, why would anybody think that WOS would be uptight for this game?
  19. I know after that first game of WOS vs. Jasper in 1986, the Dawgs didn't have much success against the mustangs.
  20. Hopefully the playcalling will be better this year in the playoffs. I mean no disrespect to our district opponents, or Dave Cambell, but we have not really played anybody since Bay City.
  21. I don't feel sorry for moody, or any of the quiters that left WOS for mlc. There has NEVER been any player leave WOS and do anything at mlc. The quiters that left WOS should stay at mlc, it is too fun beating them year in and year out. As for the bears this season, "THE BEARS WERE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE", No Discipline, No Commitment, No Wins. Keep up the good work BOJO!!!
  22. Last year at the start of the 4th, it was wos 40 kville 16. We are not Jasper!! This is a different week and a different team. P.S. Tell poo poo he better buckle up and put his mouthpiece in. This aint liberty's d, this is the CHAIN GANG!!
  23. I doubt very seriously that we will lose to k-ville. We have heard the same story over and over again. I'm not saying that it wont be close, but this aint horseshoes. The difference between wos and k-ville is: k-ville thinks they can win this game, and wos knows they will win this game. No hard feelings, but when is the last time yall beat anybody that was anygood?
  24. The 1987 West Orange Stark Mustangs (15-0) In week two beat the #3 team in the nation, Aldine Macarther Other key wins that year were #3 ranked Jasper, #8 ranked Silbee, #2 ranked Kerville Tivy, and in the state championship game gave up only 7 points to the Rockwall Yellowjackets, whose offensive coordinator was the great Todd Dodge. The Mustangs recorded six shutouts, and the most points given up in any game was 15. This team has been selected as Dave Cambell's 4AAAA Team of the 80's.
