After watching the defending state champs in person last weekend, it’s no way on earth there are 4 better teams in class 5A. This team has an enhanced/ upgraded roster from a team that truly went 39-1 last year (that forfeit was a joke) I’d say the GASO poll is off also. My top 5 teams in order are: 1A- BWB 1B- BU 3-Birdville 4- Frisco Heritage 5-CC Veterans Memorial 🤣🤣🏁

I disagree plano east had one guy around 6’6” that has a zion Williamson type body. He was good but too small to match up with the multiple bigs at FF. Yes they had some solid guards, but I don’t think that would be enough lake highlands had Tre Johnson. BU battled them very closely. Yes they had 1 guy 6’9”, but not multiple guys (3 or 4) around his same height as FF did. I still give FF the slight edge That would have been a good game with Ron Holland and Anthony Black. I agree D’Ville would’ve likely bested them that year. However this is just different three years. And as I mentioned, they would have at least got two ships in 6A during their tenure in the University Interscholastic League.

They likely would’ve still won state a couple times in basketball with starting lineups usually consisting of 6’11” and a 6’8” Guy or three

I’m not one to blame officials. Please someone share the box score for me to understand the foul call variance. From my outlook it was a big pot of gumbo for the SC Bulldogs. They got all the ingredients, yet couldn’t escape with their biggest win of the year. Congratulations to Mike T and his team for overcoming this challenge. I was very impressed with this WB team (feels like a better team than last year) #23 is a silent 6’7” killer. #21 has game also. #44 needs some reps, but is very coachable and will get better. #5, no need to discuss him. Looking forward to a great year!

I think I just watched the second coming of Larry Bird that plays for Lufkin on a scrimmage from Saturday. I forgot the football and basketball districts are different for now. Lufkin handled Katy Seven Lakes, who is highly ranked in 6A. They scrimmaged for two quarters. The kids name is Austin Brown. He did not miss any shots. At least it seemed that way

I spoke to Jim last week at length and told him I’d be in attendance for the SC/WB next weekend at Campbell. He mentioned he doesn’t do rankings anymore. Also no mention of talking with anyone about them. My first state Tournament was in 1982, in support of Beaumont Hebert, but I have no recollection of it. The first Erwin center trip I can remember with frontal lobe development is 1988, with BJ Tyler and company (also Sallier if I’m not mistaken). And have been to 90% of them since that point. I am not a media person, but again it’s just my opinion. No need to apologize, I’m just kindly providing insight.

I would kindly ask for future consideration with your predictions that you look at other platforms like GASO and Billionairevsns Magazine who produce state rankings and I think are more accurate than TABC. I’ve only been watching UIL Basketball since 1985 and this is just my opinion.

What factors do you have for putting BU first and WB second albeit you have more detailed information than the coaches (district predictions) and contributors from other areas (state rankings) including new transfers and new assistant coaches?
