  1. Congrats Horns and Coach Landry. Great Job. Surely you guys are kidding about the 14 innings in 4 days. That is just nuts. I don't want to criticize a coach, but that seems almost irresponsible if it is true. I am thinking not though.
  2. I agree. You can pick a half way MVP for fun, but you really have to wait to see who the district champion is. The edge has to go to their best player.
  3. This should be another good one. Both teams seem to be playing well right now. Whish I could make it to the ballpark for this one. However I will have to say Harrington will be just to much for the Bears . He is clearly the best in the district. Not even sure he has given up an earned run this year (in district), and I don't really see it starting Tuesday night. PNG 6 LCM 1 (unearned)
  4. Thanks Coop. Everyone should be able to plan there weekend around that forecast. ;) ;)
  5. Coop, What does it look like? Any chance of getting the games in Friday night?
  6. The only thing more incredible than PGN making the list is the story of Easter, with Jesus being ressurected from the grave. If anyone can pick PNG as a top 12 team in the state, t Heck, as much as you don't want to admit it, Vidor and LCM are better teams. Wake up pollsters, this is a East of the Trinity Team! If PNG has no errors, hit homers, stay "motivated" and pray, they still get smoked in the first round. Good luck indians.......LOL I think a Tournament Championship at Westbrook (including a win over LC Barbe without your number one on the mound) and a win over LCM without your number one on the mound. Coupled with a 11-3 record is deserving of some recognition. Which is all these polls are. Simply to honor the teams who are playing well now.
  7. I like these two teams to split this year as well. I will take PNG at home. And I will go out on a limb and say big. PNG 10 LCM 2 (Mitch Todd shows up big time for the Indians in this one.)
  8. Congrats Vidor on the big win. Nederland never gave up, but Vidor was just to much on this night.
  9. How is the field looking. Is this one still on? Don't want to miss it, but if it is rained out I would like to plan on going over Ozen/PNG game.
  10. What a great way to start district. If there is a game of the week this is it. A rematch of the play in game with huge early season postioning at stake. I like these two teams to split this year. And I am going to take both road teams. Vidor 7 Nederland 4
  11. Does PNG throw Harrington to counter Lott. Or do they try to get past Ozen with the other guys and save Harrington for LCM. PNG 6 Ozen 1 (if Harrington throws) PNG 4 Ozen 5 (if he doesn't)
  12. When talking replacement, why overlook the two guys already there. Both have ties to LCM. One of whom (riojas) played four years for Griff. Had to learn something in that time. You aren't going to get a coach with 300 career wins to come in to that situation. So you better look for a young guy who doesn't mind working hard, and has a good idea about baseball.
  13. Who threw for Kelly? Did Jasper score 4 off of Fazio??????
  14. Coop, Got any game times for tonight. Or I guess I should ask are there any changes to the times on the schedules?
  15. I made it out to the ball park for the first time this year. I wasn't treated to just a real high level of baseball in the early going. Both teams looked very sloppy. LCM did show they can really swing the bat, (hitting several homeruns-sorry I don't know any names). They only threw their pitchers 1 or 2 innings. Seemed like they must have thrown everyone on the roster. They need to really tighten down on defense. But I guess that is what scrimmages are for. WOS seemed to be well coached, but overall are a far cry from where a once proud program was. Not sure the final score I left early, but talked to a dad that said it was like 20or22 to 9or10.
  16. Well in those other guys defense. They were playing in 4A. Getting beat out by some very good teams. I would say the drop down in classification helped.
  17. These are examples of why the debate will continue. Even the Doctors that do the study can not give deffinative answers. They continue to have to hedge their comments. My opinion for what it is worth. Err on the side of caution. Science Daily — While shoulder changes can? allow pitches to go faster, too much of a good thing can be bad for growing kids. What the researchers found was that repeated pitching does cause changes in the upper arm bone and soft tissue in the shoulders of young baseball players, but that these types of changes generally help protect players from injury, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. Mair said these changes may actually allow for better throwing velocity and less injuries to the shoulder. "However," he cautioned, "pitching too much and playing year-round can? push those adaptive changes to the point of injury. Young men in particular may be prone to injury, because some play the game year-round, and because the bones and muscles in their arms are still growing and changing." Young players do need a break from throwing, Mair said. In the old days kids played baseball in the summer and then played basketball or football in the winter. "That was better for growing children because varying the sports used different muscles and movements," he said. "But now, some children play only baseball year-round, and that can? be a problem. It can? cause shoulder changes that go beyond normal adaptation, and can? lead to pain and even growth plate injuries." "Kids that are pitching in three different leagues and pitching 12 months of the year tend? to get growth plate problems that turn into a source of pain," Mair said. Now that this part of the research is complete, Mair said there's still a lot of work to be done in finding out how the growth plate responds to throwing, how to keep kids from being injured, determining pitch counts and days of rest needed, and in educating kids, parents and coaches.
  18. I say LCM 10 PNG 6. With the game tied at 6 a piece Chad Richard hits a walk off grandslam. Oh wait wrong game. LCM in a route again this year. Just to much speed and overall talent. LCM 42 PNG 7
  19. You are forgetting about LCM's speed. Which from what I here is the most in school history. Richard 4.3, Driver and Salter 4.4 LCM 31 Caney Creek 7
  20. I only had a chance to see this young man pitch twice this season, but it looked like Lon Morris is getting a good one. Congratulations and good luck.
  21. Way to go Kris. Frank Phillips should be a good place to begin your college career. Coach Griff does a great job of helping his kids end up in great situations. Looks like the Bears weak senior class turned out to be small, but pretty good after all.
