  1. I understand what your saying but look at it for a second. Two years ago was Riordan's second year which was the Twins senior year. Offense was on pace to go into the record books but we had defensive issues and gave up 56 in a second round game. Year after that was when we had the deepest team which is why people were saying it was the best. That year the record showed it and we signed 10 kids, which was the most for us, so that technically was his best team to date. Last season we were better than the previous year but we ended up running into Ridge Point which is why I say I don't know if the record will necessarily reflect us being better this year. We can go D2 and be the favorite to win the region or go D1 and get Manvel. Difference could be a 10-2 or 14-2 record but it wouldn't change how good the team is.
  2. That game would be an epic beat-down if Crosby stays healthy. IDK how the record is going to end up but this is probably Riordan's best team at Crosby. Make of that what you will.
  3. IDK man, hard to tell because KP looked so bad. Magnolia is picked to win their district but I thought KP would look better than that. I don't think Vidor tested BH's defense enough to be able to get a good read on them.
  4. C'mon man, if Dayton doesn't beat Ned by at least 28 I would seriously be worried. This is the worst team I've seen Ned put on the field in recent memory. Maybe they improve week two but I still think Dayton should win by four scores minimum.
  5. Your district is so bad this year it's hard to judge by playing anyone from over there. Vidor is probably equal to what KP is going to be in 21-5A this year. We'll see how they look against that level of competition but they actually open district play @Crosby in two weeks.
  6. April, if we're being honest Dayton probably has the hardest schedule in the district behind Kingwood Park. You're about to play Nederland and Splendora and get no looks, then y'all are @Humble, Home to New Caney then @Barbers Hill. Humble and New Caney will probably both be undefeated also. Dayton either solidifies their place the first five weeks of the season or they might end up having a play-in game with BH the last game of the year.
  7. Very surprisingly results for week 1. All three favorites lose, all six hopefuls win or tie. Crosby loses by 14, Dayton loses by 7, Kingwood Park probably falls out of playoff talk with a 32 point loss to Magnolia. Porter ties(cancellation), Splendora wins by 23, Humble wins by 24, New Caney wins by 28, Caney Creek wins by 33 and Barbers Hill wins by 34. Post week 1 predictions 1. Crosby 2. Humble 3. New Caney 4. Dayton 5. Barbers Hill 6. Kingwood Park 7. Porter 8. Caney Creek 9. Splendora
  8. I sat with Bellaire's offensive coordinator at the Lee and Westbury game and he told me last year they were a lot better. He said they were young but had some talent. They have the #7 overall player in the state for the 2018 class in Jalen Green, he's a 6-2 corner that looks like he also plays some qb and receiver sometime. Crosby is going to have another test at the line of scrimmage but I suspect we pass his one. Here's the box score from their game with Fort Bend Travis: [Hidden Content]
  9. Ozen also held below 100 total yards: [Hidden Content]
  10. I think this is only Tompkins' third or fourth varsity year, they're a new Katy ISD 6A. You're right about the defense being stiff. Humble held Tompkins to 96 total yards it says: [Hidden Content]
  11. The most surprising to me is Ozen, I thought based on athleticism alone they would be able to get the corner two or three times and score 14-21 on Episcopal. Most disappointing was definitely Nederland though. I say it's the most disappointing because it's the hardest to explain considering the teams involved.
  12. Doesn't matter how you read them 398. It's a 6A team that plays in the Katy ISD district and almost made the playoffs last year and they outnumber y'all by almost 1,000 kids. I didn't get to see Crosby's scrimmage versus Huffman but I did see us against Nederland. After doing all my pre-season research I passed by CCRed's office and started showing him film. I told him I was picking y'all second in district because you had looked the best in the district from what I had saw up to that point. Keep it up and hopefully y'all don't have the notorious late season fade that's plagued y'all lately. I'm really pulling for Coach West this season.
  13. Most surprising shutout to me was Episcopal over Ozen. Walker and Wilson looked like men, especially Wilson but I was surprised Ozen didn't have a single playmaker on the field. Heck of s lot different than those Jeff Nelson teams used to look. Ozen looked uninterested in playing football. I was high on Vidor but they looked better against WOS than they did against BH. I've officially move previously 0-27 Baytown Lee into playoff contention in 22-5A. Guys in the neighboring district took some serious arse whippings this weekend. I know the game was cancelled but Lumberton, Ned, Vidor and Ozen combined for a total of 6 points opening weekend. Throw in Livingston losing by 28 to New Caney and you can assume there's going to be some bad football played in 22-5A this year. Luckily PAM is there to save the district.
  14. I think if Crosby can play defense like this in a nightly basis we're going to be awful tough to beat. Still have some things to clean up but I'm even more excited about the season after what I saw last night: [Hidden Content]
  15. Dang, Nederland with only 80 total yards in a varsity football game: [Hidden Content]
  16. So you didn't say Crosby would lose a few games in district, "But what do I know?"?
  17. Crosby held Manvel to 309 total yards last night. Pretty salty performance from the defense. The 282 yards of penalties were mostly split pretty evenly. They don't have an official box score up yet but the write up says Netherly had 264 total yards, Crosby had 223 total.
  18. The man said we would lose three district games BG. . . . I'm still trying figure out my response to that.
  19. Central ran who off the field? Not CV, right? I saw Tuggle rush for almost the same amount of yardage as he did on Dayton on five carries against Central's ones.
  20. Their enrollment is growing so the qbs are getting help now. Yeah CV lost Jalen Hurts but I don't even think he put up as many total yards as his brother did in their best years? Dad Hurts can just coach, he just doesn't have the depth of athletes for the 6A level.
  21. Well, we're about to make it 12 years in a row. It's a different time. Dayton will be fine but it's probably going to be a lot harder than you think to get back to the top of the district.
  22. Central ran who off the field? Not CV, right? I saw Tuggle rush for almost the same amount of yardage as he did on Dayton on five carries against Central's ones.
  23. Manvel didn't call off anything. They played their starters until the very last play. They had every intention of putting us away and really couldn't. We snapped a wet ball over the punter's head and Manvel picked it up and ran it in. Another time the punt was blocked on the mishandling of a bad snap and Manvel got at about Crosby's 15 and ended up banging it in with Preston. Those two tds were the difference in the entire game. Make no mistake, Crosby only scored 7 but Manvel got shut out in the second half. Only calling off the dogs they did was kneeling with :30 left. Manvel did handle us on both lines of scrimmage but the only real difference in the game was Crosby's poor special teams play. I don't think anybody else on the schedule stays within double digits of Crosby.
  24. Huh, we lost 35-21? Manvel scores 21 less than you predicted and Crosby scores 7 less but you weren't that far off? If we're healthy I feel extremely confident Crosby could beat Manvel if we lined it up again 11 weeks from now.
  25. There's a good chance Episcopal blows out Ozen in a few hours too. For my grades they have the best two players in the state with Marvin Wilson and Walker Little. They usually have a good qb also. Its not really that 22-5A lost last night, it's about how they lost. I would say Central probably had the best showing last night. Livingston, Vidor and Ned lost by 28, 34 and 42 respectively. I think Porter was going to come close to shutting out Lumberton too last night if the game didn't get called. If PAM wasn't in the district 22-5A is probably looking at getting swept for the second time in here years.
