  1. AAW, Thank you for the kind words and yes it is true that I'll be leaving at the end of the year. With hard work, belief and buy-in by the kids, we were able to take a program who won 3 games and only made the playoffs twice in school history to back to back playoffs and 20 win seasons in only 4 seasons. Frankston is rich in tradition mainly due to Coach Loper who is a legend. He amassed over 600 wins while at Frankston. I only hope that I can continue the tradition. Best of luck to all the SETX teams and I definitely ain't going to miss playing the Beaumont schools in the first round every year!
  2. Ozen 28 Madison 26 Ozen scoring off turnovers and transition lay ups. #10 for Madison can stroke it!
  3. My take on the game: 1. Ozen is a very solid team and gave us fits with their press. They play with such confidence. 2. Ozen also hurt us on the offensive glass. Gibson and Boyd were just too big and too physical. 3. Bolden hit nine 3's last night which definitely helped the cause. 4. I would like to think that Ozen didn't play down but rather New Caney played well and had a good game plan. But then again I am biased. Overall it was a fun game and I really enjoyed it. At least it wasn't a snooze fest blow out. The better team won last night and moved on to the next round. My one observation was it didn't look like Ozen was enjoying or having fun last night. I hope they aren't consumed with the destination but rather take time to enjoy the journey. Smile and laugh, which was my favorite part of the night. Gibson tried to look at my dry erase board to see the play I drew up. I said I can't allow you to do that, while smiling myself, and the kid had a huge smile on his face. I erased it and then showed it to him and he cracked up laughing. That's the spirit young kids need. Love the game. Enjoy the moment.
  4. Just to play devil's advocate here. Remember when we used to TEACH kids about mercy and respecting others and that there was more to the game and life than just winning? I'm definitely not for this rule but I am for respecting others and I don't see how beating someone by 100 is okay to say go get better or quit. I have been on both sides of a beat down and neither side are all that fun to be on. I truly believe as coaches, we have the opportunity to control the lopsided scores without having to play keep away, lane violations or dribbling to the basket to show we could have scored. Does it matter what you win by? Can you put it on your resume in life? Just thoughts.
  5. Do you have the inside scoop that an Ozen player is injured?
  6. Losing this game did what to the district standings?
  7. Why is everyone obsessed with the D1 title? To me if a kid is blessed enough to play at any level and get it paid for then what else can you ask for?
