TAMU student sues over rape alligation
Peppermint Patty replied to elijahadmire's topic in College Sports Forum
This is bad, but I am not sure we will ever see anything that is as bad as Baylor. -
Probably the Horns last day in Omaha. They just do not have enough arms and for the most part can't swing the bats consistently. Hoping I am wrong though. Hook'em!

End of the Wayne Graham Era

Joseph Duarte (Joseph_Duarte) Tennessee Tech coach Matt Bragga is a candidate for the #Rice baseball job, a source confirms. @KendallRogers and @MarkBermanFox26 were first to report. Fox 26 reporting he has interviewed for the job -
Coaches have to be members of the THBCA and then they can nominate a player. Once nominated, the other member coaches select the team.

Based on personal experiences, and I could be wrong, the elite "select" baseball coaches are not being paid to "guide" players to schools. The biggest difference is the MLB Draft. Since an elite high school kid can be drafted right out of high school, there is very little interference by the select coach. The good select programs (Banditos, Sun Devils, etc..) do provide exposure and give guidance in the recruiting and draft process. Most high school baseball players, not drafted in the first 8 rounds, are going to at least go the JUCO route to either improve draft status or to play at a D1 school in 2 years. You just don't see coaches getting paid to influence that decision based on a lot of probabilities. Scouts do a ton of research and know who is and who is not college material. They have a pretty good idea of whether they can sign you or not if they draft you. They also know if you can qualify to get into school or not. In other words, in baseball, going to school is a bargaining chip- it'll cost you this much for me NOT to go to school (assuming you can get into school). Football players have to go to college for three years and basketball players usually have to go for one. To me, that's where this situation gets messy.

Unfortunately, it's quickly becoming a big business. "Select" 7 on 7 teams with ties/pipelines to D1 universities. It will get out of hand fast. [Hidden Content]

Rosters for SETCA Christus All-Star Game
Peppermint Patty replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
Coach may not be a member of the SETCA. -
Well, nobody from Austin will be going to Oxford for baseball. Tennessee Tech beats No. 4 national seed Ole Miss, 3-2, to eliminate the Rebels. #Texas will host the Golden Eagles in the Austin Super Regional this weekend. #HookEm #RoadToOmaha

Ole Miss is a great atmosphere. Those guys do their homework. They knew everything about my sons family background and made sure to let him know. It was awesome. Good teams can win anywhere, always nice to sleep in your own bed though.
-
That would be like hosting Davidson in a Super Regional.

Agree at the NCAA level and up. Not so bad in high schools. Reduces field maintenance.

THAT is not what causes aggy blindness. Gotta fill that bonfire jar.

California's Attorney General said the state is pulling the plug on state-sponsored travel to Alabama and three other places - Kentucky, South Dakota and Texas. The addition brings the total number of states included in California's travel ban to eight, with Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee placed on the off-limits list earlier this year. While the economic implications of the travel ban are unclear, its most immediate impact could come this fall on the football field. First, what is California's travel ban? California's law, AB 1887, went into effect Jan. 1, 2017. It prohibits state-funded and state-sponsored travel to states with laws that authorize or require discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or same-sex couples. What does it cover? The travel ban law prohibits state-funded travel for those working at California agencies, departments boards, authorities and commissions including those associated with the University of California, the Board of Regents of the University of California, and the California State University.
