  1. In the words of Paul Harvey-   And now, the rest of the story...     [Hidden Content]         Good day.

  3. Maybe it's a post-dated check.
  4.   Not understanding how that would work if he DID get injured. Since the policy seeks to indemnify Winston from loss of potential wages would the insurance company be basically paying themselves?
  5. No one is promised tomorrow.   Prayers to all of those involved.
  6.   3 stars don't ride in police cars.
  7.   No 5 star recruits? Not possible.
  8. Those that can, do. Those that can't, coach at Baylor.
  9.   The kid from Canada the Rockets drafted had a bounce pass in his highlight video.
  10. When your draft highlight reel contains you making a bounce pass, you might not be ready for the NBA.
  11.   Hey, easy there. I graduated from SWT in 1988 and my wife in 1987 (she is the reason I went to SWT). Back then the football was awful, but I looked forward to Coach Harry Larrabee and his" Hanadwedad" Bobcat basketball teams. Those were some fun games. Hell, SWT did not even have a baseball team at that time.   We used to go back every summer when my wife took her squads to cheer camp at SWT. Have not been back in a while. Every time we go, I looks less and less like the school we attended. It's a beautiful campus and if they get the athletic programs on track, it will be hard to NOT recruit there,
  12.     I think Coach Strong texted Steve Patterson and said -   I wish you guys would come get me. Hurry up and hire me because I want to be there. I want to wreck this league together.      Still gives me goose bumps. The guy is a competitor.
  13. If UT can compete for a BCS title, I don't care how good of a speech he makes.   #NOGIMMICKS #TOTS #WBYRYMSM
  14.   Definitely a "hired gun".  But, as a parent with a player on that team, you pay nothing. Therefore, if you have a problem with that, you are always free to leave. For the most part it is usually a pitcher or two. At some tournaments Perfect Game would ask if the team had a spot for a local player the scouts wanted to see play. That's just the way it goes. The Sun Devils provided national exposure. When they brought in "hired guns", that brought more scouts to their games. We're talking 3 or 4 tournaments-WWBA in Marietta, WWBA in Florida, and WWBA in Jupiter.FL in the Winter (maybe the largest scouting contingency I have ever seen).  They never claimed to "get" anyone a scholarship, they did provide every player with an opportunity to get noticed. I appreciate all that Mr. Ferguson and his staff provided my son. I know he had the talent and worked his behind off, but the opportunity they provided him is immeasurable.

  16. Going to get my "World Series Champs!" tat today. Feeling confident.
  17. That's a lot of land thieves.   [Hidden Content]
  18.   I understand how the system works. Most all kids playing summer ball are looking for exposure. The amount and quality of that exposure depends on where you play (tournaments, not position) and how well you play when you're there.    Where the problems arise are when you have parents paying for their son to be on a team and then that team brings in a "hired gun" for the weekend. That is just plain wrong. Some teams eliminate this issue by having "fully funded" teams, like the Sun Devils in years past (not sure how they are structured under Matt Thompson). In that situation, you perform, you play. Any time you're not happy with that arrangement, you are free to leave.    Coaches at every level of the game have one concern-keeping their job/winning. Some keep their job by developing the players they have, others keep their job by always looking for a better player.  It's the responsibility of the parent to research which type of coach you will be playing for.   Good luck to you guys. College baseball is a cut-throat business.
  19.   How about a division?
  20.   Following the shooting at Colombine, this is the main reason schools allowed students to bring their phones on campus-Friday lunch orders.   Cell phones, i-pads, electronic devices are terrible distractions in the classroom. I cannot tell you how many fights start during the school day because of something posted on Twitter or social media. They are the modern day crack for kids.
  21.   No, that sounds about right.
  22. I stand corrected, THIS is a perfect couple.
  23.  Pat Hayden is a great AD.
  24.   It is a great topic. Not sure how it posted twice. Probably just the awesomeness.
