QB Dean threw some real accurate passes in the scrimmage,  he had one droped in the end zone that he weeded inbetween 2 buna defenders.  Also he threw several on the run that where right on target, They have 3 guys over 6"2 that they run out on passing plays so that helps Dean alot finding a open receivers. I see alot more balanced attack this year and the Defense looks good but the D-line needs work. Oline was alot stronger this week with many earning there starting jobs this week, They didn't look ready for tough competion yet in the 2 Scrimmages, With Newton you never know what Newton Is going to show up to play , they are extremely talented  but Confidence and Consistency has yet to be seen the last few years.

The Newton Eagles are not favored to win district 10-2a , putting them in a familiar role. The small school underdog,  Newton has never been known to be favored by the golden triangle area well. So this is no surprise to see Newton picked to get second place in District. Hopefully with the addition of all the big sophomores and The skill postitions players that looked to be primed this year Newton will run there district and bring themselves back to the dirty bird swag era that they had between 96-06. I think the biggest question for all that support Newton will be can they win the big game. Dates could be off a little correct me if im wrong 07 lost to eventual champ Tatum .08 lost to Dangerfield eventual state champ. 09 same thing .lost to Dangerfield eventual state champ. 10 lost Barbay , lost to EC and lost to eventual state finailst Cameron yoe 11 lost to Ec lost to Crockett,  most of these loses were decided by 14 points or less except Cam and Newton gave away the lead in all of those games except Cameron yoe. This team has the talent to go all the way , the question is do they have the HEART.

They got more size than I've seen in at least 5 years and alot of speed to go with it ...

It was a scrimmage and its time to realize that,  having problems vs a bigger school in a scrimmage is going to happen simply cause of dept and also Newton has alot of underclassmen on the roster. I'd really be worried if we struggled against deweville or HF. They really not known for there depth.

Newton always looks soft in Scrimmages , they have little dept being the main reason.

Don't forget the schedule!  Newton has EC kirbyville and Anauhac all at home and Newton plays excellent at home.Just saying Could be a factor.
