It has worked well for PN-G when a coach/son tandem came through The Reservation: Bum Phillips/Wade Phillips 1965 Doug Ethridge/Richy Ethridge 1975-1976 [State Championship in '75 and Semi-Finals in '76] Mike Long/Dustin Long 1997-1999 [Bi-District or Area Round in '98 and State Finalist in '99] Matt Burnett/Clint Burnett [the year escapes me, but they made a playoff run and great father/son memories] I'm ready for Coach Faircloth to guide his son through our program. Across the tracks over at the other school, the Spell and Barrow families had some success.  TJ-ex Todd Dodge did well with his son, Riley.  Art and Kendall Briles at Stephenville.  The Detmer family.  Joe, Kenny, and Little Joe Washington had success at PA Lincoln.  Coach Willie Ray Smith, Bubba and Tody Smith were the kings of Beaumont football during the 1960s. Coaching your son can be done.  I haven't walked in those shoes, but it seems to me they all have a strong family bond that will last forever, with or without football.  All of those coaches were damn good, too...disciplined men who built or were part of great programs.
BIGd92  did say in some cases......  ;)  Really, about all you can do is tell your kid to keep playing hard. In the long run, the true talent will rise to the top. Use these situations to motivate yourself as a parent and student-athlete on & off the field.
I know it was a different sport but the Stones were also a good father son team.
I really do think most of the time father son combinations work and are more successful than not. As coach first you have to do what is best for your team and as a father you will have a lot of confidence in your kid, you will know where that kid fit more than any other kid and that kid will understand you better than any other kid. It's about being fair to all kids. I have this experience youth sports with two sons. My coach/ pupil relationship wasn't as a great with my oldest son as it was with my youngest. My youngest son and I won youth championships in all three major sports. I never had problems with other parents complaining about him. They only complained when I didn't have him pitch, call plays in football that got him the ball or benched him in basketball. As a coach… If you are not playing the best kids in the bedt way to help the team you coach shame on you.
West Sabine - 42 Kelly - 18
You have to be kidding…just knowing what I know about the Kelly Team this year and hardly anything about WS…I don't think a #7 ranked 1A team can have enough fire power to put up 42 points on Kelly. The most improvement of this years team from last will be seen on defense.
 3. Monsinor Kelly High Stuns 1A State Ranked West Sabine
 4. Don't know enough about West Sabine but I'll say it again Kelly will surprise many this year.
 5.
Ozen over WB will be considered an upset only because of the new Coaching staff opposed to WB coaches having a year up already! Wb defense is suspect and Ozen's defense is loaded with speed & physical athletes! Hervey is good but Randle maybe equivalent and the backup is capable! I think Ozen will have too many offensive weapons for WB to contend with! Should be a good game though but Ozen's talented receivers will be tough to deal with in my opinion!
Agree
 6.
WS over Kelly ;D :o
We will see…don't know much about WS but Kelly is much improved
 7.
No Kimler on the list?
Colton Kimler should be on the list that's for sure
 8. I was there the entire scrimmage and I agree mostly with fisherman2 but I will add all teams did well on offense later in the scrimmage. I'm partial to Kelly and didn't see any of last year's games since my son took the year off. I think Kelly will do much better than one win this season and was the best of the three teams last night. Critique: Kelly's O-line need to hold blocks longer.
 9. I'm a Jaguar class of '91. My prediction is Central over PAM. I will say .…I still say Memorial will be pretty good. If I'm wrong about Central …it will be a blow out …dished out by Memorial. 28-24 Central
 10. BTW I'm the Central High School '91 graduate my youngest son transferred from Ozen before last school. I am also a youth football coach for over 10 years (Bmt Salvation Army Crusaders)
 11. Kelly Bulldogs a transfer from Ozen and 91 Central High graduate
 12. He's a cornerback and he play receiver on offense. Being a multiple sports athlete is a great benefit when attending a small school. He's also baseball player. Baseball is the first sport he every played.
 13. Didn't mean to add the "ed" on guaranteed
 14. Cam Frank is guaranteeded to help the team (Kelly Bulldogs). He transferred from Ozen a year go and he played basketball last year for Kelly but that was his only year not playing football since the age of 8.
 15. Kelly won vs St Pius X 61-56…Kelly beat St. Pius X their district rival for the first time since 2006 and won 3rd place in the Houston Christian Tournament that included some pretty stiff competition.
 16. Kelly wins vs Crocket for the Huntington Basketball Tournament 65-56
 17.

Agreed, the 6'6 player must be inside more. It is good he can dribble and shoot, but his team needs his help inside.
No, let him continue to dribble/ play point/
.  Because of the fear of not being able to play big man in college he has been trying to work on his dribbling skills
 18. I got Kelly by 20. Even more if Chad Wise and Cameron Frank gets hot
 19. Not just because I'm have an interest over at Kelly but I think the Dirty Dozen not including Kelly makes it incomplete from the start. I guess Kelly has to play the sleeper role until you guys wake up
 20. This game wouldn't be as difficult of a challenge for Ozen but they are missing some key talent in Green … not Trey Green but his younger brother Brandon Green left Ozen and now attends North Shore High and also Cameron Frank now @ Kelly not to mention their bigs were playing football
