  1. Nothing against Stump. Just looking at where he’s at as far as age, tenure & possibilities of bettering his record (as far as SC possibilities) as long as he’s going up against NS to progress further. I think he’s probably already cemented a place in the GHA Coaches HOF. Maybe, even more. Don’t know his exact record. But, I think it’s pretty darn good. Don’t mean to veer this away from Kingwood. But, if Stump does retire, it may also help Kingwood as Atascocita would have to adjust for a bit.
  2. To me, it’s cyclical in 6AR3D2. The talent you see maybe should really be at a D2 school? Theres also a very big gap in sizes of schools/programs between D1/D2 in 6AR3. More so than in some of the other regions. Quite a few ‘mega schools’ in R3.
  3. True point. I just edited & added about Stump. Thoughts?
  4. So, make one posthumously. I said Kingwood was gonna beat out CEK for the 4 spot at the beginning of the season after LP played them. If UIL does start cracking down on transfers, they’ll be in the mix a lot more every year. I also just have a gut feeling Stump’s clock may be running. He’ll be 60 with at least 20 years, and I don’t see him ever getting past NS.
  5. I mentioned in another place that Angleton has that ‘IT’ right now. Couldn’t really define. But—after thinking about it—I guess it could best be described as belief they can come back from just about anything…confidence…winning attitude. The last few weeks of close PO wins have really cemented their never give up attitude. They have the talent. They have good coaching. I believe they’re fairly healthy. Calpreps has them as 4 point underdog. But, they’ve been underdog this whole PO season. Something tells me this is their year to make it to Jerryworld. I just think they’re finding ways to win. Keep repping 11-5A1. Cats by 3 late.
  6. Just don’t have a hangover from this game next week. SV looks like they’re on fire. Keep representing 11-5A1!
  7. Naw. They didn’t play well enough to win. It was Angleton’s day today. If there’s any question about going for it on that play, my question would be ‘why the toss’ when you need less than a yard. Still. I think Angleton would have found a way to win & they deserved it. Overall, they played better.
  8. Angleton came ready to play. It was a very disjointed game. But, they came prepared.
  9. !!:24/21/F Congrats Wildcats! Good Luck next week.
  10. !!:13/21/3 Sandolph TD
  11. !!:13/14/3 22 yard FG Angleton
  12. LP is visitor. That’s okay. I’ll redo.
  13. LP 14 Angleton 10 2nd Quarter
  14. LP 7 Angleton 3 2nd Quarter just starting
  15. Congrats on a great season so far to both Angleton & La Porte! Safe travels to all going to the game. Let’s hope for an injury free contest, and good luck to both teams. But, more to the Dawgs! Let’s go Dawgs!
  16. Yes. He had LP playing in their first Quarterfinal in ‘78 against Craig James & Stratford their 15-0 Championship year. That’s when I was at LP.
  17. Hope everyone has safe travels!

  19. LP has been the smallest school in the big school division for all but the last few years. When they went against Stratford, it was ‘78 & the C. James years. More recently, it was the Katy machine of the mid 2000’s when Katy was basically 6A-D1, but able to play D2 because of 19-5A enrollments. Also, before all the talent was being spread around KISD. By the time LP got to the State Quarterfinals, opponent program sizes & attrition made it nearly impossible in Region 3 even though LP punched way above their weight class. La Porte was basically 5A going against the big boys. The exception was 2011 and PAM. But, if you’d seen the LP/Katy game that year, both teams left pretty beat up. Coach Berneathy was the OL coach for LP then.
  20. Just think if he followed ‘Big Mo’ Maurice Morris (LP alum from 2013) and went to the Naval Academy. Talk about an education, and his talent in that offense. Wow! Incidentally, I think Mo is working in Pearland now. He served for 9 years, and I saw somewhere where he was like a Project Manager for a lighting technology firm in Pearland area. As a Navy vet, wouldn’t bother me a bit either. LP’s actually had a few go to the Service Academies. Kendzior (DE that terrorized NS & PAM & others a few years back) went to the Air Force Academy.
  21. Just was curious. I know when LP has gone outside of their ‘coaching tree’ in the past, it’s been a disaster every time. (The successful coaches all spring from Carroll Lundin as the starting point.) Bringing in Mills (Sealy) years ago—because of his multiple championship resume—was a bust. Maybe the biggest. When LP stays with the people that have/have had experience with the history and culture of La Porte, they’ve seemed to do well. They all have had somewhat similar schemes as well. As y’all mention the type players Crosby produces, La Porte tends to grow LB/RB type players with just enough big boys for the lines. So, the play style they use works for them. Interesting how that works.
