1. And I don't think anyone's expectations were a district championship or even the playoffs, but 60-21 to a 1a......  Really unexpected. All I read in the newspapers were how they were going to be consistently successful and go beyond just making it to state. And this head coach hangs his hat on his defense. It looks like some bad years ahead for Kelly.
2. In response to Kellybasketball. I love all the excuses. I hope you keep them coming for the next two years. No one ever gave Coach Long all these built in excuses. The offense is only returning a qb that threw for 2000 yards and 20 Tds. A Soph tackle who started last year and a guard who who was all district and another guard who started last year. And a tb who had two 100 yard rushing games including one in the playoffs. I thought the defensive guru would get the defense right considering he has last years DC still on staff and returns an all state DE. The staff is the same minus 3 coaches. I did see that Frank Middleton who coached there last year put up 43 points this week as the OC at kountze. Why didn't Kelly hire him instead of the defensive guru who gave up 60 against a 1a?
3. Magic you are amazing. Even in the down years with Long, when they didn't have much , they NEVER lost 60-21 period!  Much less to a 1a school. Last year all you did was criticize Kelly's offense who scored almost 42 pts a game and now you defend this. It's very clear you don't know much about football. So much for that attacking 3-4 defense.
4. Is Korby saying this staff is better than last years? He must have graduated with Holmes. Kelly has more than 1 receiver. There is still plenty of talent at Kelly. The question is can the new coaches develop it? Time will tell. Holmes came into a good situation, all of Kelly is doing all they can to help him succeed and because they went to State last year, there has been more kids come out for football than ever.
5. No one is going to mention Caleb Ceasar "the crowd pleaser"?
6. "lectric" Leeland McElroy. Him , Jamal Charles, Christine Michaels , Jerry LeVias and Joe Washington are up there if not the best to come out of this area.
7. Who is the best coach magic? You always seem to know
8. Yeah those aren't good numbers for one game, much less for a whole season. Don't see any colleges beating on his door to throw the ball. Hell of a kid and football player though.
9. Let me put it this way. I've seen a lot of teams do much more with less.
10. The liberty team from last year was one of the most talented 3a teams I have ever seen. They had like 5-6 kids over 6"5 and athletes to go with it. Dline was huge oline was huge. It doesn't make any sense they were not better than they were.
11. How did Liberty get the jv qb from st Pius ? I have seen him play a few times and he isn't even in the same ballpark as fitzwater. He throws like a jv qb.
12. Yeah just relax because that is the coaches attitude too. They tried to fix the cosmetics by getting a new oc and dc but the problem is the head coach. In year 4 they look worse than they did in year 2.
13. I hope they have a lot of D3 schools on the schedule. That didn't even look like a college football team.
14. What does this have to do with Barbay being the next coach? Is that final yet?
15. This is a bunch of bull. Legacy hired another central guy so they can keep recruiting central players. Coach Hobbs at a 5a? They ran up the score on high island and that makes you a great coach?
16. Let me be more specific and I'm not going to get into a pointless arguement. He walked on as a wide receiver his true freshman year. Did not get a shot at playing quarterback until his academic sophmore year which was his redshirt freshman year. So as a football player he was a freshman when he played South Dakota but academically a sophmore. No slanted facts, maybe you need to get yours straight. Again Best of Luck Douglas in whatever you do. You have more heart than the whole team put together.
17. A true competitor and an example to anyone who watched him play the game. Walked on as a wide reveiver and did not even get a shot at playing quarterback until his sophmore year. He did it the right way, and always put his team before himself. It is a shame that he suffered two of those concussions because of idiotic coaching, one of those being in an intersquad scrimmage right before the season. Knocked out by his own teamates. I'll never forget that South Dakota game his freshman year, the heart of a champion. You have a bright future and I wish you best in whatever you do.
18.
Yep, You obviously have a bias against this umpire. You claim to be an umpire yet you continually throw this person under the bus. Your obviously not much of an umpire. He is not banned from Lumberton as he called games this year there. He's not banned from West End or anywhere else. You just want to slander this person for some apparent personal vendetta. But I guess you think it's ok for a Kelly Catholic High School player to continue to cuss after being warned (I'm sure Kelly's priest/head master wouldn't approve). You think it's ok not to follow NFHS rules and allow players to wear jewelry after they have been warned. Guess you think it's ok for the freaking trainer to confront an umpire on the field. And I'm sure you think it's perfectly fine for spectators to threaten an umpire with physical harm. What does being Catholic have anything to do with this situation? Bottom line is you are dealing with KIDS! Kids are going to get in trouble, cuss sometimes, and do things that you don't always approve of, WHETHER you go to a private school or not. When you get into officiating, you should do so for the kids. Not for a check and not to go around and show how much authority or knowledge you have about a game. This guy obviously has a power trip (a former officer and now an umpire) . Seems like he wants to show people who the boss is. ANY other official would have calmly told the kid to take the bracelet off or would have done their job before the game and made sure that all the kids were in the right attire and not wearing anything illegal. My two cents.
19. I am very dissatisfied with Lamars football program or lack there of. They hired a quality basketball coach and look at the results. The football program will never have any success with Woodard. The only schools they recruit are port neches, Nederland, and Silsbee. Their very first recruiting class they gave scholarships to the Louis kid, tatum from port neches, and Cardenas the receiver from Nederland. None of those kids ever even played a down. They did not recruit schrapps until north Texas offered him even though two of their coaches had visited practices. Mcneese asked nick barber from Kelly to walk on and Lamar never even contacted him. You don't have to give all these local kids scholarships but maybe show some interest and ask them to walk on. I've never seen the lb from newton play but I find it hard to beleive that he is better than the lbs from memorial which is a 5a school and went four rounds deep. Not one kid from memorial? Are you kidding? No interest in the seales kid even though he lit it up all year and finally u of h then osu took notice.  I've been to practices and they have no discipline. In their inter squad scrimmage they went live on the quarterbacks and knocked out prewitt, that was genius. Hurt your own quarterback right before the season, I'm sure lsu and university of Texas do the same thing. The program is a joke.  They should know the names of sophomores at memorial, west brook, ozen, central, west orange and a few other schools. They produce athletes every year, you don't have to give everyone scholarships but show interest and invite kids to walk on.
