  1. Ok...I'm going to keep my comment to myself on this one.....lol
  2. That's like saying which kid shot the best free throw percentage in HS! No one would know THAT! Come on man!
  3. Yeah we played against SWOSU when Ryan was there while I was at Midwestern State. He was still as solid as ever, and played well against us. I really thought Ryan would go Division I, but he went juco then D2..I was recruiting him at Lamar State before Coach Cole resigned that May....Loved him as a person and a player.
  4. Did they SIGN a kid from Memphis and it didn't work out?
  5. What? What thread is put of hand, and how in the world is it MY fault???
  6. Jalen will be at West Brook next year, and someone will protest it...Mark my word...
  7. He didn't win a single state title...He was talented and improved greatly in college. What's your point?
  8. Marquis Savaet and Andre Boutte...so it's their FAULT, now? How dumb is that? Smh...
  9. Do you think they came to him NBA ready? Or were they DEVELPOED? West Brook, again has had SEVERAL pros and they are not mentioned in this thread. No State appearances in school history...No titles..what does that mean in your estimation?
  10. Why is it that when it comes to Boutte, you folks from HJ ALWAYS bring up, "but he has talent" speech? That's so insulting to a hall of fame coach that has done nothing but WIN...I bet all you folks think is that he just rolls the balls out and the wins just come automatically...You couldn't be more wrong. PLAYERS HAVE TO BE DEVELOPED. Why do you guys NEVER want to consider THAT fact? SMH
  11. Never said that, but every coach cannot win, even WITH talent...It does take COACHING...
  12. He did a formidable job winning those two NBA titles. He is a good NBA coach, in my estimation. Is he better than Poppovich? NO WAY..Its a BIG difference...
  13. Had Ozen EVER been to state before he got there? Lincoln had talent after he left, and ONE coach took them back...COACH GAMBLE! West Brook has never been, so if he takes them, what will the excuse be then? They have better athletes? THEY'VE ALWAYS HAD BETTER ATHLETES AND HAVE NEVER GONE!! I just do not understand some of you guys thought processes on this...HOW can you say it all because of the athletes...That's an insult...Really it is.
  14. So now I ask....Were there any "consequences" as you are suggesting should happen in this particular case?
  15. Can we agree that in the past 25 years, WEST BROOK has had THE MOST Division I college basketball players in the area, including PA Lincoln, and have NEVER been to the state tournament? Can we also agree that of the many SE Texas Schools in the area, in the last 25 years, just FIVE schools have won state championships, and Andre Boutte has coached TWO of the Five schools to state titles? So one can conclude that there IS a common denominator as to those programs going on to compete in and win in the state championship tournament, correct? COACHING. Good coaches are plenty in SE Texas, however, there IS a measure that separates good from GREAT. STATE TITLES, and APPEARANCES. Now, I'm not saying that coaches that have not won a title cannot BE great, but when its been done on multiple occasions, there should be no discussion about the greatness at that point, and to point out "having athletes" is merely a poor excuse, and borderline jealous statement for someone that apparently has zero understanding of the game or is just a hater...Which one are you?
  16. Did he have an NBA draft pick at Lincoln? And before you scream out Stephen Jackson, he wasn't drafted and was just a junior when they won the 95 title, and there was none when they won in 1991 either.. You shouldn't hate greatness....Its really not a good look...SMH
  17. No this guy would have come out of high school in 93....He was NICE! I want to say his name was Terrino?
  18. You remember a guy around Kountze they used to call "Lil Man"? (Not Horace McDaniel, he came after Horace did) He could really play, but I cannot think of his name!!! LOL
  19. Why would they look at Boutte though? He hasn't and won't recruit any player...That's an unfair assumption, don't you think? Would they look at Todd Sutherland that close? Just asking....
  20. Oh OK...Well you never know..I think that having Coach Boutte on the sideline will definitely give West Brook their best chance to make the State Tournament in a very long time. How long will it take to build it into a PERENNIAL power? That remains to be seen...He built it at Ozen in 3 years, and in year four went 36-0, winning the state title, so....That remains to be seen. May not be long though..
  21. I don't understand the question...How long will West Brook be playing Austin? I don't get the question here...
  22. I don't dispute this at all...it does happen like that at good programs all of the time. Recruiting would not be necessary. I agree.
  23. I was watching a documentary on Ronnie Fields, a former Chicago HS phenom and teammate of Kevin Garnett at Farragut HS. What area player in you guys estimation, truly had high major college and/or pro potential, but never materialized for whatever reason? NOT saying that they failed, but just didn't reach their fullest potential as far as their talent went. Some may have even had decent college stints, but still hadn't reached their potential...For WHATEVER reason (i.e. injury, grades, attitude, etc.) I will start the list. In my opinion, there were a few that come to mind: Golden Corner, West Brook 01 Decarlos Frank, Ozen 10 Clarence Matthews, Central 03 Kelvin McKyer, PA Lincoln 91 Ryan Donahoe, Hardin Jefferson 07
