  1. As I understand it, the middle schools are busting at the seams! I look for them to grow over the next few years.
  2. I've been around Nederland soccer since the beginning and I have personally never heard that excuse used when we lose.  I can't definitively speak for prior years, but I can say with certainty that this year they were young! I don't know if this will translate into a powerhouse team in the coming years, but I do think they can only get better! I've always had respect for Lumberton's program because they always produce tough teams. I can say that the team I watched last night is good, but not going deep! I don't see any team from either district going past the third round if they even manage to make it that far. Just my opinion though.
  3. I don't know what "ever young" means, but tonight Nederland started 2 seniors, 2 juniors, and 7 sophmores. While I don't dispute the outcome, the number 1 team from district 37-4A squeaked by the number 4 team from district 38-4A.  I wish you luck in the next round.
  4. I believe in letting the players play the game. However, many players are more into going after the player instead of the ball!  If the play is hard and physical but the players are fighting for the ball, keep the cards in the pocket, but when it escalates to going after the player with no play on the ball, cards need to fly! I've seen quite a lot of attacking the player and no cards given.  I can say that 95% of the cards I've seen given, red and yellow, were deserved!  I've also seen serveral dangerous plays go un-carded which only opens up the game to escalation.  Yellow cards given in the right situation will most often keep a game under control.  Every overly physical game I've ever seen could have been avoided with better use of yellows!
  5. I've seen a few given and they were all deserved. A couple were for foul language so there is no argument there. Another one was for stopping a clear goal scoring opportunity (field player grabbed the ball with both hands as it was going into the goal in a JV game!). Another one I saw was a 2nd yellow (of which the first foul was just dumb)! I think overall, players are committing stupid fouls. The yellows given in most of the games I've seen were just dumb fouls! Overall I would say either poor coaching or lack of coaching.
  6. Great Game! Great Season!!! We went down fighting and left the field with our heads held high! Way to go Dogs!!!
  7. No matter the outcome, I want our dogs to leave it all on the field! Win or lose, let's walk off knowing we gave it our all!!!  I'm proud of our dogs regardless of the final score!!! Go dogs!!!!!!!
  8. Awesome game Dogs! No matter what happens, you've had an outstanding season!!!!
  9. If you are going to coach at any level, you have to have a thick skin! Every call you make will be scrutinized; it's just the way it is!  Football, if you performed your job in front of 8,000 people, I'm sure your professional opinion would be questioned.  Bottom line is everyone has an opinion and the right to express it. You don't have to listen.  I enjoy watching highschool football and many times I wonder why a coach makes the calls he makes.  It just so happens that the fans around me at Friday night's game were all wondering the same thing! Why throw the ball when we were running over them?  I'm sure the coaches had a plan, it was just lost on the fans in my section!
