  1. Guys it all comes down to exsposure, exsposure and exsposure.  The kids that play AAU ball get a lot of exsposure playing teams from Houston and Dallas.  Whether they play on a team in the area or one in Houston, its about exsposure.  Take Prudhomme for example, I go to alot of AAU tournaments and I didnt see him enough not just playing, but dominating in the the tournaments, like he does at HJ. College coaches want to see 3a and 2a players play at the same level against guys from 4a and 5a.  And the only time they play against those guys is during AAU season.  And when that college coach dont see that, guess what.  He goes looking elsewhere.
  2. Memorial will have 12 signees so far on signing day.  Thats a great accomplishment for 1 high school. Here they are so far: 1. Terrence Singleton - Baylor 2. Travon Armstead - Baylor 3. Nate Holmes - Arkansas 4. Jajuan Seales - Okla. State 5. Elandon Roberts - Alcorn St. or Morgan State 6. Johnathan Ned - Alcorn St. 7. Jeff Reno - Alcorn St. 8. Jaylon Howard - Trinity Valley JC 9. 3. Im not talking about last years Cowboys or even the last couple of years.  When I was the Head Coach for the Cowboys I represented The Gulf Coast Region in the Junior Pee Wee divisions for a 6 straight years. And either the Cowboys went or we loss to the Junior Bees in the finals. In the 15 years that I coached Pop Warner, In Junior Pee Wee, no other team represented Gulf coast but the Bees or Cowboys.  And we where told that by Atterbery that the reason all the teams where leaving was because of the Bees and Cowboys.  So Im just repeating what was told to us.  The same PA Memorial team that lost this year in the State semi-finals. 19 of thos players played for me on the Cowboys and we lost in the State semi-finals when they where 10 yrs. old.  And lost in the State quarterfinals when they where 9.  And when they where 11 they Won state and went to play in Orlando FL in the Pop Warner Championships.  Oh and by the way, the only team that has made it that far from SE Texas.
  4. You hit the nail dead on the head with that one ST.  Kids these days, not just in PA, dont have the passion and respect for the game.  And that goes for all sports.  I remember playing for Lincoln. We would practice on Saturday morning at Lincoln for 2 or 3 hours and then go to Lamar on the Westside and play basketball for hours.  Nowadays when kids finish practice they go home and sleep.  Even in football, especially baseball and even soccer.
  5. Well after doing a little research and it wasnt hard to find out the information I was looking for.  I got a reason out of a board member from a surrounding city of PA.  I was informed that they voted not to keep PA in the league because they thought that PA would stack their teams for next year, so they voted them out.  Mind you, onl 1 team was actually accused of stacking.  PA also informed the league that they would be expanding their teams like the other Associations I.E ( PA Lil Titans- Black, PA Lil Titans Red, PA Lil Titans - Grey) , because they had gotten a lot more interest from more kids to play next year.  PA was going to keep the teams they already had and just add more teams to the league in every division.  Now I think if you are a league and a city is lookinmg to expand, that would be a good problem, not a bad one. The person I got this information from seem to be kind of mad and one of the people who voted against PA, because their organization didnt beat PA.  It also seems that it is more about winning in STJFL instead of about teaching and playing the best.  So like I said in an earlier post.  It was all about Talent. It happened a few years ago when Nederland (Well Nederland did stay for a whie and split up), Port Neches,Groves,  LCM, Deweyville, Vidor, Lumberton, Bridge City and all the rest of these teams dropped out of Pop Warner to for mtheir own league.  I was just starting out coaching then.  They all left because of 2 teams in the league the PA Cowboys and the PA Jr, Bees.  Both teams would whip all these teams every weekend.  So instead of teaching their kids to play against the best, they dropped out and formed STJFL. NOW THIS.
  6. i have so much to say about this topic.  Also what should have given the PA Lil Titans a sign that STJFL didnt want them in the league was another reason I questioned. STJFL informed the PA Lil Titans that they had to have their games at the PA Auxillary Field in Port Arthur.  They secured the field and had their home games their.  There wasnt a reason, they just told them that the field was nice. and had bleachers on both sides. But when PA played their games in Nederland and Port Neches.  Guess where they played.  On practice fields with NO bleachers or anything resembling of a concession stand. And in Bridge City they played in a mosquito infested swamp. Please Explain. Just trying to let my fellow PA Lil Titans that you should have seen the signs as the season went on.
  7. This is the same Jamaal Charles who sponsors the PA Lil Titans.  I can remember the President of the STJFL getting Jamaal to sign his football helmet in Little Cypress and telling him that his PA Lil Titans will be alright in the league.  Jamaal asked (not wanting) and explanation on why they couldnt play in the playoffs.  The President informed him of the rules that had been broken, and he said that was what had to be done. Jamaal didnt have any hard feelings, he just told the coaches like Ive always told them. To make sure they read up on the rules.  After that, he informed Jamaal that the PA Lil Titans would be ok in the league and got his helmet signed.  And now this.  Guess the helmet wasnt worth much since Jamaal tore his ACL this year.  He should have given him a jersey.
  8. One4All you are right.  I apologize for saying all of STJFL. But the majority of STJFL. I personally know a few good people associated with other teams in the league.  I will call and ask them what happened. But until someone gives the President an answer on why their organization was put out of the league.  Then you are going to have all kinds of speculations on both sides. But the good news is that Im pretty sure that PA will land into another league.  But what amazes me so much is that the PA Lil Titans are sponsored by Jamaal Charles.  The same player that most of the STJFL Board, League, Parents, Members or anyone associated with. Admires this young man to the fullest, and would love to shake his right hand and claim that he is from SE Texas.  But you put his sponsored team out of the league.  Look at the IRONY in that.
  9. First off let me say that I knew that this was going to happen whether this year or in a few years.  I am a former Pop Warner Coach of 15 years and a parent of one of the Lil Titans.  I witnessed on a few occassions at some of their games where the opposing teams would make up rules as they go along to try to prevent the Lil Titans from winning.  Now as for the PA Lil Titans coaches and Board members the first thing that you should have done was read and discussed all rules with STJFL President and board. To make sure that you werent breaking any of them.  Secondly, STJFL has a rule that you can't stack a team.  PA was accused of Stacking one of their teams.  But can someone please explain how PNG has 3 teams in a division and they all finish with different record. 1 team 8 - 0, the next 4 - 4 and the other 0-8.  Now they say that they drafted their teams. But what coach do you know would draft all kids to a team that would be 0-8. Please Explain. And Lastly, PA people and fans.  Our high school Memorial Titans are going thru the same thing right now as we speak.  None of the teams that have association with the STJFL want to play our kids.  Race has nothing to do with it, ITS TALENT.  Our kids from Flag to High School has tremedous talent on all levels.  At the High School Level. PNG has backed out of their game with Memorial, but says that they would scrimmage us.  Nederland has said that he would never play Memorial. And the other schools are just to afraid to even think about playing us.  So it has nothing to do with race.  ITS ABOUT THE TALENT WE HAVE IN PA. They can run all they want, but when colleges come to SE Texas, they dont stop in Nederland, Pt. Neches or even Bridge City.  They go to PORT ARTHUR.  Oh except for LAMAR.
  10. Yes he was a Varsity Starter last year as a Freshmen.  Heplays CF, SS, RF.  They also have a good Sophomore Catcher this year taylor Labrie.  Memorial has gotten better believe me.  Watch out for them.
  11. Exactly. Ive known Josh Gray from his days of playing and living in Lake Charles.  Ive watched Kristian since watching him at Austin Middle School.  So both players are good thats why I said this will be a good game. Both players play with high intensity and attitudes to go with it.  Will be very interesting when they guard each other. Both can jump out the gym and both can shoot it deep.
  12. Thanks for the info.  Ive seen Kashmere practice a few times.  They look big. They have a 6'10 Center and a real good guard.  Right now my best bet is the Central/Wheatley game will be the most interesting game of the day.  Kristian Smith vs. Josh Gray.  What an attitude matchup this is going to be.
  13. Here is a list of PA Memorial Seniors and their colleges.  Hopefully all of these young men will get scholarships to some school. 1. Terrence Singleton - QB - Baylor 2. Tre'Vaughn Armstead - OL -Baylor 3. Nathan Holmes - RB -Arkansas 4. Elandon Roberts - LB - D1 offers and Mid Major Offers 5. Jereem Augustine - LB - D1 offers and Mid Major Offers 6. Jujaun Seales - WR - D1 offers and Mid Major Offers 7. Davonte McMillian - LB -Mid Major Offers and SWAC Offers 8. Ivory Pickett - LB- Mid Major and SWAC Offers 9. Aerian Jackson - WR - SWAC Offers Lamar should really take a look at a few of these young men. If not schools in the Southland Conference will.  14. Kenneth Mayfield - RB
  14. All Four of Memorial LB's are qualified and getting mid major looks right now. I know this for a fact. Elandon Roberts - North Texas, Arkansas, UTSA, Tulane, Tulsa, UTEP Jereem Augustine - North Texas, Memphis, UTSA, Sam Houston St., Tulsa Ivory Pickett - UTSA, McNeese State, UL-Lafayette, Tulane, UTEP Davante McMillian, North Texas, McNeese, Tulane, Sam Houston St., Memphis,UTSA UTSA wants all of them immediately.  Also it is shameful that Lamar hasnt evend offered anyone of these outstanding young men.  or anyone else from Memorial. Can anyone explain that.
  15. ill be the first tosay it. MEMORIAL WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. laugh at me now. but the kids are really taking tothe new coach. finally has an offseason program and won some games in fall league. i think they went 7-3. and beat WB
  16. blue r you coming this year. let me know. Eisenhower isnt no slouch either. memorials team is different now that the football boys are back.
  17. Kashmere did beat Yates a few weeks ago.  They have a big man 6'10 Matthew Pollard thats real nice.  I think this will be one of the better games of the day. Kashmere vs. Hoghtower. Brackets goes like this Hightower vs, Kashmere winner will play Westbrook Central vs. Wheatley (Interesting matchup Kristian Smith vs. Josh Gray. Whose attitude is worse game) Aldine Eisenhower vs. Central Memorial vs. Furr
  18. Tuesday Dec. 27 1:00 Ft. Bend Hightower vs. Houston Kashmere winner will play Bmt. Westbrook Wednesday at 10am. 3:00 Houston Wheatley vs. Bmt. Central 5:00 Beaumont Ozen vs. Aldine Eisenhower 7:00 PA Memorial vs. Houston Furr Tournament has some good teams. Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
  19. Ticket prices will be the same as last week.  Adults $10 Syudents $7.  At the gate $13.
  20. Who you got?  This is going to be a good game for both teams.  Both teams will get a good look at some of their young personnel. Game time is 7pm at Memorial.
  21. PA Memorial will play South Houston at 1pm at GP North Shore Stadium.  PA Memorial looks like a lock to make it into the 2nd Round.  We beat them earlier in the year 63 - 14.  Lets Go Titans.
  22. That is so true.  Wheatley, Yates and almost all the inner city schools are not neighborhood teams anymore.  HISD should do something about that though.  Just my opinion.  I think it is sad and it takes away from the schools pride.  But the tournament should be 3 good real days.
  23. The James Gamble Tournament will again have some exciting teams in it this year.  Hee is a list of the teams paticcipaing in the tounament. 1.  PA Memorial 2.  Ft. Bend Hightower 3.  Beaumont Central 4.  Beaumont West Brook 5.  Beaumont Ozen 6.  Houston Furr 7.  Houston Kashmere 8.  Houston Wheatley 9.  Aldine Eisenhower They might get one more team added before then,  If not this is still a vey good tournament.
  24. I wonde if the STJFL will let Port Arthu's players paticipate in the Pro Bowl?  Or will they ban the kids fom the Pro Bowl also.  Just asking...
