  1. Lumberton gets my vote with their returning players and their coach.Orangefield will be very good as well for the same reasons.
  2. What happened to the Oilers offense?I can see giving up points to Groveton, but I thought yall would score on just about everyone you played.Do yall have many of your offensive starters returning besides your skill positions?
  3. I don't know enough about either team to bet a lot of money.I was just giving my opinion about an earlier post that said Orangefield wins comfortably because of the passing game.I dont care where you live speed is speed and E/C will have some in the secondary. From what I have seen so far this year through the scrimmages and 1st game I think this game is real even and the home field is usually worth a few points thus my pick. What was the O'fld/Buna score?Just curious.
  4. Orangefield may win this one, but you can bet team speed will be a factor.I have never seen a high school game where it wasn't.The reason I favor E/C in this one is their at home and they can be extremely tough to beat at home,no matter what the sport.JMO
  5. I was pleasantly surprised with the Warren Warriors. They lost just about everyone off the offensive line and I thought they would struggle there.Through 2 scrimmages and 1 game that seems to be their strength. We will know alot more after games with Woodville and Groveton but their gonna be better than I thought they were gonna be.We have got to work on our kicking game if we are gonna compete for a playoff spot :!: :!: :!:
  6. I don't know what kinda speed Orangefield has but E/C will be fast in the secondary. This one will be close but the Bucs win at home.28-21
  7. Don't have the stats yet, but Marc Esway had to be way over a 100.This kid could be the best kept secret in southeast Texas. He plays for Warren.
  8. WOW, This one surprises me.I watched WH last year several times and was impressed with what they had coming back.I had them picked to contend with Alto. Not sure why they are not really fired up over there but HD is waiting so they better turn it up a notch.
  9. Diva, Huntington should win a few this year. They appeared to to have more speed than Tarkington or Shepherd but not as much depth as either.I think all are 3a schools and they are all real close, not sure if any of those guys are on your schedule but they would be really good games.Huntington has a couple of good running backs #22 is very good and according to the program was a jr.Definitely gonna have a tuff season at the 3a level simply because of numbers, didnt see many kids on the bench.
  10. Warren wins their season opener 24-13.Overall Warren looked pretty good ,gave up 1 TD on an intercepyion that was ran all the way back.Granger and Esway both looked good and Morris had a nice TD run late.Defense played well, need a little work on the kicking game ,but nothing that cant be fixed.Good job guys :!: :!: :!:
  11. Glad to hear it,hope to see yall maybe in some tourneys this year.
  12. Anahuac Panther, I picked E/C to win the district based on returning impact players not the strength of their scrimmage schedule. They had the misfortune of being in the district with Newton last year or they would have won it then.Warren scrimmaged Tarkington and Shepherd both 3a schools but neither in the same league as Silsbee or B/C.I dont know anything about Anahuac other than I heard their best running back tore up a knee this summer and they have a new coaching staff.I picked them 2nd because they are one of the biggest schools in the district.I think you may be surprised at just how good Tramain and the bucs will be for a bunch of small town kids.Good luck in the new district this year.
  13. Jackleg I just ask a question about 24aa,I did not bash Woodville in the least.I happen to have a lot of respect for a lot of the folks in Wdvl.I saw on another site that Ktz beat them.Did they?I wasnt there but I know Wdvl is gonna be pretty good so my statement was if Ktz beat them we better reevaluate Kountze.I was born and raised in Tyler county and support all the TC clubs.Best of luck in the new district.
  14. Kirbyville should not be a surprise, they have been pretty darn good the last couple of years.Bout time to give them some respect. They will be a playoff team in a mighty tuff district.
  15. Thanks coach, how are things goin in Chireno?
  16. Thanks coach.Does he have a bball background?
  17. Did Deweyville ever hire a basketball coach?Seems like most of the jobs filled , but havent heard much fron the pirates.
  18. Has this picture cleared up any after the scrimmages? I hear Anahuac has looked pretty strong in spite of missing their running back.E/C looked good against Wdvl but not sure they got much out of going against High Island. How about Deweyville, did they scrimmage Buna and how did it go.Warren looked better than I expected to be perfectly honest.Kountze also has to be reevaluated, while a victory over Colmesneil was to be expected I hear they also beat Woodville so I think they will be better than folks think they will.Havent heard anything about Hardin so I cant comment there. This is gonna be closer than most people think. So here goes my predictions ,remeber these and 50 cents gets you a cup of coffee. 1-E/C 2-Anahuac 3-Warren 4-Deweyville 5-Kountze 6-Buna 7-Hardin I think the top 4 spots here are very close and will depend on injuries and keeping kids elgible.I also think Kountze is way ahead of where they have been in the past.
  19. Controlled scrimmage: Shepherd 1 Warren1 Game scrimmage:Warren 13 Shepherd 7 Still lots of kids hurt for Warren.Tonight they were missing their best running back and still have their linebackers out.The young guys taking their place are looking pretty good.My biggest concern was the O/line but they have played very well so far.Granger was on the money tonight.Overall a pretty good final tuneup for both clubs.
  20. Hitch, Didnt mean to ruffle your feathers.I was commenting on what I saw from Warren.Their first team played 15 plays and moved the ball pretty well. The young kids did OK.The 3 kids Warren had out were all district players (2 linebackers and a safety)they also started on offense.Such is life at a 2a school.I have watched several other local 3a schools and I think Tarkington would have a tough time in that district.Tell me what district your in and how you done last year and if I am wrong I will be the first to admit it.The Tarkington QB did have a good arm.Its early so I hope both teams do well this year.
  21. Warren at Wdvl 2 years ago.Woodville scored over 60 and Warren 40.The defenses got to the stadium Saturday morning
  22. With Anahuac going against 3a BC,E/C going against a good Wdvl club,Warren playing 3a Tarkington why would Buna want to scrimmage Evadale. No knock on the rebels but I dont think that is gonna prepare them for where they are going. :!: :!: :!:
