It may start after the 6:30 scheduled start.  According to kogt.com, who will be broadcasting the game tonight, all 4 scheduled games, starting with the 9th grade boys game at 4:30 p.m., will all be held in the same gym.

You may have a while to wait, all 4 scheduled games, starting with the 9th grade boys game, will all be at the same gym.  The 9th grade boys game has just started. This was according to kogt.com, who will be broadcasting the boys and girls varsity game tonight.

I was searching the Paris record and was surprised to find that they have done much since that 1988 state championship.  I think they have had 4 or 5 playoff appearances since then.

Actually, the answer is pretty easy....exposure.  By waiting till February, the award is not overshadowed by the BCS, the NFL playoffs, Super Bowl, college recruiting, coaching changes, all this teams, all that teams, etc.  It has it's own day in the sun, not overshadowed by any other football story.

Doesn't practice officially start next week?  Who's gonna coach them?

[/quote] BS, I have lived in the Greater Houston area for 20 years now.  8 years of that time I have lived in Katy (ya know that community just south of Cypress?).  That means that I have heard literally thousands of news broadcasts, weather reports, and more importantly, traffic reports and I have NEVER heard Northwest Houston and Cypress used synonymously.  And if you tell someone from Cypress that they live in Northwest Houston, they will give you an icy stare and speak to you in a terse voice.
