  6. PVIL Merger with the UIL The PVIL schools in the larger cities played their last football season in the PVIL in 1966. The last basketball, baseball and track seasons for the larger schools was 1967. The smaller schools continued to play for a state championship in baseball through the spring of 1968. The smaller schools continued to compete in the state track meet at Prairie View through the spring of 1969 and they also continued to play for a state championship in football through the fall of 1969. The state basketball tournament continued to be held at Prairie View for the smaller schools through the spring of 1970. By the fall of 1970, the PVIL had ceased operations. In 2005, the records of the PVIL were included with UIL records.
  7. District 9-5A Port Neches-Groves (2-1) at No. 3 Fort Bend Marshall (2-1) 12pm @ Mercer Marshall remains ranked No. 3 in the state in Class 5A Division II, and now the Buffalos will begin their quest for yet another district title. This time around, they open with a PNG team that has won consecutive games against Beaumont United and West Orange-Stark. Marshall enters this game following an off week after beating Alief Taylor 47-0 in its nondistrict finale two weeks ago. The team’s only loss came in overtime against Crosby. Quarterback Jordon Davis has stepped up for the Buffalos’ offense this season, allowing Houston commit Ja’Koby Banks to play his natural receiver position. Marshall has won 22 consecutive district games dating back to a loss against Manvel in 2019. The Buffalos are 3-0 against PNG, beating them in the playoffs in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The closest game was the most recent one when Marshall won 21-14. Written By Jon Poorman- high school sports coordinator for the Houston Chronicle.
  8. My bad, mis-read the Houston Chronicle article from 2019. Kay was asst. at North Shore for 4 of Joseph's wins prior to 2014 over N.S. head coach David Aymond.
  9. Katy led by Coach Gary Joseph has beaten North Shore led by Coach John Kay six times out of 10 in head to head games up to 2019 regular season. In those 10 matchups Katy averaged 25.6 points, 299.6 yards, 32 td's to North Shore’s 18.4 points, 252.7 yards, and 26 td's.
  10. Now days men can believe they are women & it has to be excepted so a frog can believe it has wings & it has wings…😎
  11. If Nederland combines the 1st half team play of the P.A. game together with the 2nd half team play of the Silsbee game for 4 quarters vs. Willowridge & #12 plays QB for 4 quarters Nederland wins.
  12. I agree with not a program builder & got to give Dodge respect on his offensive schemes pushing S-Lake \Westlake over the top into dominating state title winning programs. Dodge's college coaching run was a dumpster fire. Cameron Yoe (8-12), Carrollton Newman (8-12), Keller Fossil Ridge (7-12) & Marble Falls (8-12) North Texas (6-37)
