  1. Should be a great weekend. STJFL is excited to have added WOS to the league this year. The games are usually very entertaining so go out and support your local teams.
  2. I suspected they would with the starting QB having minimal practice time before the scrimmage. He will be fine and so will the Dogs offense. I was more pleased to see that the first D played so well.
  3. Well said, baller. I wish Lumberton success but don't talk the talk until you have proven you can walk the walk. This is why you guys are taking so much heat on this board. You, my friend, seem to have it right.
  4. Sully was just a flat out winner. Hood was a great pure passer and although he did not scramble much, he was very effective at moving within the pocket and buying himself anough time to make a play. He was also extremely calm under pressure. Sullivan was a very rare athlete. I, too, remember the TC game. He was hurting real bad but made it throught he game somehow against a team that ended up winning state that year.
  5. piratefan, don't get too caught up in score of a scrimmage. Usually coaches do not play these like they would regular season games. They play guys who don't normally play and they run plays and sets they they may not try when it is for real. Scrimmages are more for settling unresolved starting spots and execution. Good luck!
  6. Over - I say this not knowing exactly what they have coming back this year and base this more on history, but Dayton. I know that in the past we have played them in the first round of the playoffs and historically, we had much stronger teams than them sitting at home out of the playoffs. I know they have Dugat and he is a player, but if they have the same type of talent they usually have, they will be a 4th or 5th place team in 22-4A. Under - As much as I hate to say it, I don't think PNG is getting enough of a chance. They will have a huge OL coming back and 2 good RB's. The Hemmings kid that played FB towards the end of last year reminded me of Josh Cook. He is a strong runner. If they answer some QB questions and make the adjustments they talk about on D, they can make a run.
  7. Is that someone from Vidor talking about poor parking??? I will admit that Nederland's is not good, but Vidor has to be one of the worst around. Add to that inadequate seating and you have double the problem. At least we have enough seats for visitors in Nederland. You are right, though. Parking in Nederland is far from ideal.
  8. It would certainly be good to see Perk get some more PT in 2006-07.
  9. Who wants to take bets on whether they will be undefeated or not this year? I think that at some point, Lumberton's program will begin to see improvement, but IMO, 4 wins this year would be a stretch.
  10. I think this kid is flying under alot of radars this year because of last season's circumstances, i.e. his injury and then the hurricane. He is a special athlete with a tremendous work ethic. I look for him to be a load to handle this year. He returns almost his entire starting line and his fullback, plus he is a serious threat receiving out of the backfield.
  11. Great run by these young men. This should count as an experience for them that they will never forget.
  12. Blue, get the respect before you talk the smack! I will go out on a limb here and say that Lumberton does not make the playoffs this year. It looks to me like about a five horse race for 3 spots. I see it this way: Central Nederland Ozen Dayton PNG Any 3-way combination of the the above would not surprise me. Anybody besides these 5 making it would surpise me.
  13. It sounds to me like she is outnumbered so why don't they just outvote her? I mean I could care less if they name the stadium after Hooks, but if you are against it, you need a better reason than what she is giving. The man has obviously contributed big time to that district irregradless of whether he lives there or not.
  14. Eugene Seal was the hardest hitting linebacker I ever HEARD, if you know what I mean. He would just explode into people and you could hear the pop.
  15. Nederland's 8 and under girl's softball A team won state this past weekend over a tough 59 team field. Games were played on College Street in Beaumont from Friday thru Sunday. Nederland TNT beat Dickinson in the final game by a 5-4 count.
  16. If college coaches are pinning too much hope on 13 year olds, they have a big problem. A lot can change between the time a kid is 13 and 18 from both a physical and mental standpoint. The only purpose it serves is to create selfish players who are more concerned about their own personal ranking than the good of their team. It also places undue pressure on kids who are not mature enough to handle it. Some kids may excel at 13 against inferior competition, but how do they perform when the big lights are on and everybody can play. Tha's my two cents. Take it or leave it.
  17. I agree. When 13 year olds are rated, there is a problem. Whatever happened to kids competing for the fun of it and the lessons that can be learned from sports, i.e. teamwork and committment. Seems like the lessons learned today are the wrong ones...like what's in it for me and how do I make me look better.
  18. Thanks bigred, but I did not take offense to anything lonewolf said. Whatever happened, hopefully it will be handled appropriately (I am sure it will). Let's get ready for the playoffs!
  19. I've got an idea...let's put BH against LM or Brenham and see how they fare.
  20. Come somebody please be a bit more clear about what actually happened here? I am confused.
