  1. WH will roll...Burkeville is still thinking they are the Burkeville of 2001..which they are not. Seriously, they may not win a game this year. Go get em Oilers !!!!
  2. Kountze is headed for trouble...sorry, but the district they are in is just too tough IMO
  3. Hmmm..the archives say Burkeville in 2010- 2011 lost 5 games and was beat very bad in the first round of the playoffs. I seriously doubt that they had 4 or 5 players that scouts wanted. Wow...you must hate your coach for bashing him that way too! I see that Hamilton was the head coach at the time. That is a shame regardless of what you think of him. College level players viewed by scouts are recognized for what they do on the field and if they are good enough then most of the time they are offered at least a partial scholarship. I also see that there were no All- State players on that team from Burkeville. No All-State players and 4 or 5 were wanted by college scouts from a 1A school???? That is absolutely ludicrous. Maybe you were college level material in your own mind, that makes more sense to me. Anyways good luck to the Mustangs this year.
  4. Just my opinion....the athletes that Burkeville had all moved to Jasper and Newton after the storm...or so I was once told from someone who lives there. He claims that they really have not had any true decent football players (college material) since before the storm. I wish them well but I am afraid the hard times continue this year. Maybe one day that talent they had 10 or 20 years ago will return.
  5. I heard they are absolutely horrid....may not win a game this year.
  6. Wow! This is a great job for any area coach. This school has a tradition of basketball excellence and great community support.
  7. From what I hear the problem with Burkeville is the top runs the school with personal feelings instead of running it like a business should be run. That, in turn, has ran several coaches off and told all of the available ones in the area NOT to go to Burkeville. All of my friends who are coaches (one who actually coached there) look upon Burkeville as being "the end of the Earth. Where coaches go to die" mentality. I also heard that certain families in the community are so hard to deal with that it is almost impossible to coach there. This is what I was told and seeing that the school has an incredible turnover rate when it comes to coaches, it must be true.
  8. What an absolute mess that this school is. For the past 4 years now this small school that is tightly nestled in the tall piney woods of East Texas has lost every single coach from its staff. Where does the problem lie? Obviously if the district is losing every single coach from the staff then there must be a problem somewhere. From what I heard the district is responsible for letting their best coaches leave that had began to turn the program around a few years back when the team actually made the playoffs. What a shame that this once proud powerhouse is now the utter and undisputed laughing stock in the entire SETX community. Just ask anyone. I am just telling it like it is sportsfans !
  9. I think that it is very unprofessional for a coach to post on this site...just my opinion only.
  10. Why in God's name would anyone want to coach period????? It is this kind of drama that is the reason so many coaches are leaving the profession. It is bad enough to deal with parents complaining....but to also have to deal with drama like this is beyond me. I wish Coach Franklin luck, but I can honestly say..I am glad its him and not me.
  11. Earned the right? They were 1-6????!!!! How is that earning the right? What a ridiculous statement. I agree with True Blue 1000 %. Somewhere in Tx there is a group of kids at a 1A school that finished 5-5 and did not make the playoffs. They earned the right to go to the playoffs a heck of a lot more than this team did. If anything, you should be praising them. The playoffs should NOT be about as you say "practice for next year". Ludicrous. FYI..just because you have an education degree does not make you an expert to work for the UIL....and True Blue has the right (although I dont know him) to complain as much as he wants when a team of this caliber goes to the playoffs. TAMU..I admire your passion and your point is understood...but you are well off on this one.
  12. Not to say that Evadale would ever be 6 man...they dont need to be..but those other schools sure need to be.
  13. Burkeville, Sabine Pass, and High Island all need to go to six man. Maybe then they can compete against a school like Evadale that constantly fields 20+ students on a varsity squad against those schools who field at the most 15(being generous) players. Evadale is the only school in the district that even fields a JV squad..cmon.. how fair is that.
  14. Ive been saying it for weeks...what an utter disgrace to put a 1-6 team in the playoffs, a team who hardly deserves it, and a team that is going to get murdered in the 1st round, while a much more deserving team with at least a .500 record sits home. Ridiculous.
  15. Congratulations to the Rebels. Since the other teams all finished tied..who will go to the playoffs besides Evadale?
  16. The worse district in the entire state, however, I know the players and the fans and the schools can do nothing about it, so I dont blame them. The UIL needs to do something about this district. How can a team make the playoffs with one win? That is completely insane and maybe unprecedented. I have a brother who coaches in another 1A district further North and he says that everyone laughs at this district. He will really laugh when I tell him this. Once again, I am not blaming anyone but the UIL. But, this is really..well...embarrassing. There is simply no other way to put it.
  17. Not bent out of shape at...really could care less to be honest with you.
