Former Houston Colt .45 dies Eds: APNewsNow. HOUSTON (AP) — Hal Woodeshick, an original member of the Houston Colt .45s, has died. He was 76. Woodeshick, who worked mostly as a reliever, was 44-62 in 427 games in his 11-year career. He played for five different teams beginning in 1956 with Detroit. In 1962 he joined the Colt .45s — who were renamed the Astros in 1965 — and played in Houston until he was traded to St. Louis in the middle of 1965. . He made the All-Star team in 1963 when he was 11-9 in 55 games with 10 saves and a 1.97 ERA. He held Houston’s record for career saves with 36 until Fred Gladding outdid the mark in 1970. Tal Smith, Astros president of baseball operations, said: “Woody was one of the key components of the franchise in the early days. He was a closer when it wasn’t fashionable.â€

Nobody truly knows who will get what. Anyone can speculate. It is all about the interviews and who the OF Super feels comfortable with putting the Bobcats' athletic program in the hands of. Just because someone has a big name does not mean he is the right person to coach a team. We tend to only look at who would be the best football coach but it has a lot more to do with that just that. Mr. Welch will pick the right person, he is a great Super and I trust he knows exactly what kind of person he wants and he will find that person.

I like the Tigers, no problem with them at all. Got a kid who redshirted on the Tigers who I covered in HS. If UT doesn't win it all, there is no other team I'd rather pull for than LSU.

That is idiotic to think that way. Texas has won several CWS titles playing smallball. I promise you no team wants to play Texas just like no team wants to play LSU. They are two of the best programs in the history of the game. And why even bring up football on a baseball thread? TT can look forward to playing us in football all they want. That was the first win against the Horns in how long?? Do some research, go watch a little sports, learn what you are talking about and come back then.

This season the only time I saw Vidor was against LCM and I never received stats about the Pirates in 2009. I went with the teams The Orange Leader covered this season.
