1. Congrats!!! Have fun and play hard!! Looks like I get to see her play a few more times this year.
 2. OU SUCKS!!!!! because they are coached by Bob Stool!!!
 3. Basically the Rockies made sure either they get him or no one does. One thing that better not happen, is they better not pay him to play for someone else, like Oswalt. Either they work out a good deal or pull him back. Personally, you should never trade your pitching away. Prospects or like potential, it just means you haven't done anything yet, and really how many prospects do you need? How about players.

Ask the players from those teams how they were able to beat WO-s as underclassmen only to lose to them 40-0 as seniors. Yes,players from other teams might get better, but not to the level of WO-S.
Really beating WOS in sub varsity doesn't mean much because they play so many young kids on the varsity. In other words when you beat WOS in sv you are only beating the ones who aren't already on varsity.
 5. Welcome Home!!!! From the one and only Johnny!!!  ;D ;D ;D
 6. I think WOS will have the best team they have had in several years. Should be intersting to watch.
 7.

Is this by district or high school? If by district (BISD is listed instead of its three individual high schools), Nederland, PN-G, H-F, Lumberton, Bridge City, Orangefield, and I believe H-J and Silsbee are all Recognized.
PNG High was just acceptable.  They PNGISD did have 4 schools that were recognized I believe....that is to say if this is based on the TEA scores from BH fan posted a link to in another thread.
PN-GISD had four Exemplary schools, two Recognized schools and three Academically Acceptable schools. By comparison, we had four Recognized schools and five Exemplary schools last year, being one of the only (I believe the only) large distrct in the Golden Triangle area to have no schools with less than a Recognized rating. The state's new accountability guidelines hurt us... a lot.
Those HS numbers could drop when you graduate.  ;)
 8. I agree every effort needs to be made to rescue a kid from a bad homelife. Your success rate is going to be pretty low, but even if you just get a few it is well worth it. That is one reason I think HS athletics are important. For many it is the only adult direction and nurturing they get.
 9.

Isn't this 3 straight years that Jasper High school has been rated "Unacceptable" and now 4 of the last 6 years that WOS High has been rated "Unacceptable"?
Sadly, I believe that is correct for WO-S.  As I stated during the hiring process of Coach Thompson, I don't know that it would be fair to lay these results at the feet of Mr. Hill or Superintendent Colbert as Mr. Hill was hired on literally days before the start of the 2010-2011 school year and Superintendent Colbert was hired even later.  BUT (and this probably comes as no surprise to either of them), they ARE NOW ON THE CLOCK!
Sadly, rarely is it the school administration, teachers or anyone else involved with the schools fault. Usually the blame rest at home. Kids sit in the same class listening to the same teacher say the same thing about the same subject. One fails and one passes. The one who passes often has family support and a emphasis is put on education at home. The one who fails often may not have much of a family life much less family support. The errosion of the family is often to blame. I went to open house when one my kids was young and asked the techer if there was anything I needed to be aware of and she said " oh no, you really din't even need to come tonight; The parents that need to be here never show up and the ones who show up don't need to be here". I guess that kind of sums it up.
 10. The Astros, the AAA+ farm team for the Phillies.
 11. Way to go girls!!! Against very good competition. What does your schedule look like for the next couple of weeks?
 12. Robert Verde did more for my kid than I could have imagined. She committed to LSU while playing for him, and I really didn't have any idea how big of a deal that was, but Robert never did anything to sway us. We had a conversation after she was playing for Ronn at Texas Storm that showed me just how great of a man he was. Anyway back to the point, he had a way of getting the kids to demand their best from themselves, so he didn't have to. I really wish we could have the very best kids on one team. The only way to make this happen is for one team to set themselves apart from the others. They still will not get all of the kids, but hopefully the majority. Coaches have pride and do not want to surrender control of their teams. Nothing wrong with that, they believe they are doing the best for their kids. Because the best or most of them end up on one team, does not mean the rest have no place to play. In fact there should be other teams to support these players. Some may strive to make the "A" team while others may have different priorities and goals, and as I have stated many times; there are now wrong goals, just the ones that fit you best.
 13. I don't think you should design a league around the two most popular teams. There should be fair and level competition to determine your Champion. That is also why baseball needs a hard salary cap as well as a hard min. A little competition across the whole league would be good for baseball, and by looking at how many empty seats there are every night at ALL ballparks, I would say baseball needs something right now.
 14.
your kidding me right ? its about if the rays have a good year the yankees and the sox get in? give me a break!!yanks and sox will be there trust me !!unlike houston they know how to run a franchise. as for boston look at all major sports teams . they all make it to the big dance now.
If Tampa has a good year, either NY or Boston will not make the playoffs, that is a fact.  ::) In fact last year The Red Sox missed the playoffs because TB had a good year. The timing is interesting don't you think?
