  1. Maybe things are turning around all the way around for Lumberton with their new athletic director. Lord knows the previous AD didn't have any use for basketball or any other sport other than football.... and he couldn't even do what Alvin Credeur has already done for the football program. Keep it up Raiders!
  2. I was just looking back at the previous posts regarding the picks for district 21-3A and wondering if anybody was ready to change the order of their picks yet. I know district hasn't started yet, but looks like the majority had OF and WOS ahead of Silsbee in the beginning..... seeing as Silsbee beat WOS..... and OF had a loss to Central last night... what do ya'll think? Me.... LADY TIGERS #1!!!! Orangefield second and West Orange Stark 3rd............... hmmmm
  3. Congrats Lady Tigers .... another one in the win column. Good luck this weekend at the Lufkin-Hudson tourney.
  4. You posted an error in the 4A rankings. You left out Copperas Cove. Lumberton has dropped out of the top twenty.
  5. Okay, WEST ORANGE STARK is gonna wipe the floor with Ozen.
  6. Hey... listen real close and you'll hear me hoopin' and hollerin' in the stands. I love to watch the Lady Tigers!!!
  7. I think the best team in the area (that i've seen play) is Silsbee. I know some folks are voting for Lumberton because they have returning players and coach... but... Silsbee has lots of returning players, and don't forget, Bob Killam (Silsbee's head coach) started the winning tradition at Lumberton in 97-98. And, by the way, Lindsay Franks (Silsbee's assistant coach) was his starting freshman point guard that year... the first year for Lumberton to make the playoffs in the history of the school. Sooo, both coaches know how to win, like to win, and have the talented team to do it with this year. I say Silsbee on to State in '07!!! yeah yeah!
  8. Maybe Orangefield isn't ranked higher because they lost to Lumberton, and Lumberton lost to Silsbee, so I don't think they should be ranked higher than Silsbee.... Anyway, it doesn't really matter.... it's who comes out on top in the end, right?
  9. I pick Silsbee to win the district... and the race will be a tough one, but I think they will come out on top. It just seems that their bench goes a lot deeper than anyone else's... all this talk about one or two good players on teams.... Silsbee has at least seven great players, and more good players behind them.
  10. Well, if you had any doubts before this weekend...... The Lady Tigers dominated the Nederland tourney, and Lumberton and West Orange both went down! Is it true that Lumberton defeated Orangefield? If so... I'd say Silsbee should get all yall's votes!
  11. I believe that youth programs do help..... just exposure to the game, the rules, the fundamentals make kids a lot more prepared for the high school competition. Yes, there are good and bad coaches, but that is NOT limited to youth basketball... it exists in junior high and high school programs as well. I think there is more positive impact than negative with the youth programs. One example....Lumberton Lady Raiders. In the late 90's, the first crop of girls to go through Lumberton's Little Dribbler program brought success to a high school program that had NEVER reached the playoffs in the entire history of the school. That was during the 1997-98 season, and the Lady Raiders have reached the playoffs every season since, excepting one. That culminated in a trip to the State Tournament in 2006. So, you'll never convince me that the men and women who volunteer for that program don't have a positive impact on the high school teams.
  12. The Lady Tigers are so exciting to watch..... quick as cats, and they can jump to the moon! It may be a little early, but I'm thinkin' I'll get my reservations for Austin NOW!!!
