Coach Killam and Coach McClain both coached at Lumberton during the same time period. McClain was coaching the guys basketball and Killam coached the girls. That was another nail biter last night. The referee confusion level was at a peak level !!!... they confused their own selves on more than one occasion... not to mention confusing the fans. I've never seen so many delays with refs trying to figure out their own calls in one game. Anyway, despite all the stops and starts it was another great game!

unfortunately, that was not a misprint. The Lady Tigers were definitely off their game. Don't know exactly what happened but the spark was missing. A couple of players were out, and several more key players were suffering with congestion and head colds. Not making excuses, but it definitely wasn't the Lady Tiger team I've seen light up the court in past games. Hopefully everyone will be back and healthy next week when district play resumes.

Sorry.... PA Memorial will be playing in winners bracket too

Congrats Orangefield. Looks like they'll be the only local team in the winner's bracket today.

Anybody get the score for Lumberton/Hastings?

Crosby has a good team, but I've seen the Lady Tigers play uptempo ball most games this year, and this morning wasn't one of them. Something was just out of kilter. - didn't see their usual spark and fire. Hopefully they'll crank it up for tomorrow. Maybe a rematch with Lumberton would do the trick.... anyone know what kind of team Hastings has?

That's right. All the talent in the world can't get you anywhere without teamwork. Ang Green and Brittany Scott are awesome. Great fun to watch. Their teams are doing well also and that is what counts.

That "intentional foul" was definitely not intended to injure Ms. Scott... unfortunately the Lady Tigers were in a must foul situation and they had actually committed several fouls trying to get the call and the referees apparently didn't see them, and I guess they were just trying to make it obvious enough to get the call. I know that there was no malicious intent, but I also understand that the officials had to make that call, and that Ms. Scott's parents were just reacting to the possibility that their daughter was hurt. It settled down quickly and wasn't really that big of a deal once everyone figured out exactly what had happened. (the refs tried to make all the fans sit down -which they did, but were back up on their feet at the very next bit of excitement!!) That was by far one of the very best high school girl's games I have ever seen. The intensity of the game from opening tipoff to the final buzzer in the double overtime was electric.

The Scott girl is pretty amazing. She really was on fire last night. She just seemed to be EVERYWHERE!!!

okay... sorry you guys misunderstood me before. Again, it wasn't meant the way you took it and rolling through and running over are two TOTALLY different visuals for me. Anyway, no one is disputing that the Lady Tigers are having to battle every game. This district is so exciting to watch. Last night we definitely got our money's worth - and neither team gave up until the FINAL final buzzer. I don't think the Lady Tigers take anyone for granted and they know they are in for a fight every time they step on the court.

Sidenote: I DID NOT say they were running over anybody like a freight train.... read my first post..... what I said was "rolling through the district like a freight train"

Yep, that's right, I CAN use any term I like.... and I repeat... The Lady Tigers are rolling through the district like a freight train....flying from town to town picking up wins along the way.... and NOTHING about saying that should be misunderstood as an insult to any other team. Since when did it become a crime to be excited about and complimentary toward the team of your choice??

That gym looks awesome. I love the GC Classic..... there are always some great matchups there - never a dull moment.

What is Lumberton's record this year?

Well, one did take the other on their home court. It was a good game, but Silsbee prevailed with a 10 point win at Orangefield. It will be another good contest when Orangefield comes to Silsbee..... but I pick the Lady Tigers to win.... barring any injuries (or players out for other reasons).

Why make excuses? A loss IS a loss.... you can always say... "if this" or "if that" .... but that is the reason they keep score in a ballgame... to see who WON - you don't get free points for being tired... you don't get extra points for missing free throws...... you don't get to add to your score when you foul repeatedly...... so why even bring it up? Basketball scoring isn't like judging for a gymnastics competition. It's not a matter of opinion... it is a matter of WHO PUT THE MOST POINTS IN THE SCOREBOOK, right? So, that said.... Central won, Orangefield lost, deal with it. Also, in my opinion, EVERY game counts if you are a true competitor.

Yeah.... this should be a killer season to watch. There will be tough games just about every Tuesday and Friday!!! I hope what this district lineup does is makes the post district teams tough as nails and ready to handle anybody in the state.... I was also thinking how cool it would be to have a repeat at the state tournament with Lumberton and Kountze girls there, and then add Silsbee too..... that would REALLY put Hardin County on the map, huh?
