  1. From what I have heard, Cayuga is good but not nearly as good as last year. I think someone beat Cayuga pretty bad already this year.  HJ better pick it up.
  2. Well, everyone is saying that it is not a big deal and that no one is arguring but this stupid topic is on its 7th page.  You are playing right into the hands of CLeveland and HJ.  Which I dont care either way, I was trying to let you know, why dont somebody from Silsbee start a positive topic and we can talk about it.
  3. A few scores:  Woden 60 Broaddus 30, Diboll 69 vs. Onalaska 65, and Zavalla 44 vs. Shelbyville 51 Thats all I know of now.
  4. Silsbee guys, I was just trying to help you out and let you know you got bigger fish to skin than worry about a hair cut.  You are playing right into what your opponents want.  I was trying to keep you from beating yourselves.  Forget I said anything about it, I was just trying to help you out.  IF you want to worry about haircuts while your opponents worry about basketball then more power to you.  Sorry I said anything, just trying to help you guys realize that you are playing  right into their hands.
  5. If I was a member of the Silsbee Tigers, a fan, or parent I would be more worried about how I was going to beat Cleveland and HJ than a haircut.  This is exactly what these clubs want, for you to fight amongst yourselves.  Quit worrrying about your hair and put emphasis on the game and the coach will handle the rest.  Parents and fans, just support your team.  Dont beat yourselves.
  6. I cant begin to address what SFAJACK02 was saying, or trying to say.  People having human kids? Hasnt effecting anything in the past?  He has had the rule for 7 years.  Wanted to extend his idea on down to the 7th/8th grade.  Great idea. What kind of message does dreadlocks, afros, long shaggy hair have.  Usually an unprofessional look.  A look of disorganization, exactly the opposite of what you want for your team.  If a player likes his hair more than playing ball then dont play.  This is not a racial issue. Why do some want to try to make it one.  The message he wants to send is of organization, uniformity, professionalism.  Something the kids need for basketball and for life.  And there are only a few Pro athletes I would want my children to have as role models.  There are so many more people deserving role model status by our youth.
  7. It will be a good game if Woodville can handle the press, if not, Woden will run away with it.  Either way its not really a good thing to play a dostrict opponent before the district season. It is hard to beat someone 3 times in a year.  The loser of this game could look at it in a positive way.
  8. Read the article.  Seems like coach Travis is doing exactly as he should.  He is creating a team concept.  Parents think it is unreasonable.  Well then dont play basketball.  And I dont know why they want to try to make it a racial issue.  The majority of Silsbee's team is black, so in all fairness I think white parents could say their kids are not getting to play because they are white.  Ridiculous statement?  Yes it is.  Both ways.  I guarantee you that if a white kid had long hair he would have to get it cut too.  One women brought up the fact that it is a heritage issue.  Well, it may be, but with Travis, TEAM trumps the heritage issue and since he is the coach you either play for him and get your hair cut, or dont play and keep your hair the way you want.  I dont see anything racial at all about the article.  I dont even know if the coach is black or white.  But, regardless, it is HIS team for this year and he made the rules.  Pretty simple.  If you like your hair better than basketball you dont need to play anyway.
  9. Nothing last forever. Buna was once a powerhouse, Snook, just to name two.  So I guess ride the wave while you can and enjoy it.  Dont be too overconfident but be confident.  Times change, people change, basketball programs change.  And before I get hammered by HJ fans, I am not saying that yall's program is in decline, just saying nothing last forever except One thing.
  10. I havent read the article.  What did it say short version.
  11. I here ya.  Mine was a little early present and the wife has already taken control. I basically just picked it up from the store.
  12. I think anyone on this board should be able to post whatever they choose to about the future of the program they back.  No one has sole esclusive rights to the future.  Just be able to eat your words if your wrong.
  13. You are correct times have defintely changed.  And it is not a positive change.  It goes along the same lines as making the team wear ties and slacks on game days.  You as a team want to put yourself out to everyone in the best possible image.  On the court and off.  The coach has the right to decide what he wants on his team and the player can decide to abide by the rules and play or not.  Whether it is dread locks or a scruffy headed white kid I would be the same if I was coaching.  The players hair would be well groomed. I would be the person who made the decisions on what well groomed are and that is how it would be.  Most teams want to look alike and this gives them a feeling of being alike and playing alike.  Once you commit to play on a team, you have to leave some individual things behind, but this is a very individual society and that is why you have parents and people complaining.  Its just plain old common sense that you want to appear both professional on the court and off.
  14. Went and got one.  They are awesome.  8gb, image stabilazation, 2 hours film time, 2 inch watch screen, little less than an inch thick, about like an CellPhone.  Hd and got the cord that will plug directly into the HDTV for an extra 20.  Caught the camera on sale for 179.00.  Walked out the store about $200 with the extra cord, the Flip, carrying case, wrist  holder, rechargable battery pack.  If you have kids that play sports you should really look into one of these if you dont have one already, they film a really quality shot and you can make DVDs, email clips to friends and family members, and plug it directly into the TV and watch.
  15. Me too.  Coach should be able to have his players look uniform.  Hair and dress should be neat.  Like Wooden told Walton, when Walton was told to get his hair cut, he said you cant tell me how to wear my hair coach, Coach Wooden said, you are correct but I do decide who plays on this team.
  16. I see the advertisement for them at the top of the screen now on here.  Really getting a fever for one of them.
  17. Just an opinion.  I would not go anything off of rankings.  You can get a generel feel but you can not tell alot.  Most times they rank based on previous season. And you know how escpecially in 1A losing 1 or 2 good players can really hurt.  I dont pay much at all to rankings.  When district gets here, then I will take more concern. JMO
  18. Not taking anything away from Woodville, sounds like a good win, but it also sounds like a home game and probably the best game of the year.  But, I dont know, didnt see it, they beat a pretty decent 3A by 30.  Hope I can catch some action of alot of teams in the Zavalla Tournament.
  19. HJ is good and are usually good.  And they dont lack on confidence either.
