Valid point. Obviously Colonel Jessup doesn't know the finer points of Texas High School football lingo.
 2.

And we want the TRUTH ??? ???
really? you cant handle the truth.. ( in my best Colonel Nathan R. Jessep voice)
rhboiler: Son, we live in a world that has goal lines, and those goal lines have to be guarded and crossed by men wearing pads and helmets. Who's gonna do it better - Summer Creek or Dayton? Summer Creek has a greater challenge than you could possibly fathom. You cheer for Summer Creek, and you curse the Broncos. You have that fantasy of thinking Summer Creek will be able to win 19-4A. Your fantasy keeps you from seeing what the rest of us see. That Summer Creek’s 9-2 record last year, while winning the old 18-4A, was against weak teams in a weak district. Summer Creek was 8-0 against teams that were a combined 24-58, and only 1-2 against teams above .500. And 18-4A was swept away in bi-district by 17-4A by a combined score of 124-39! Then 17-4A got swept in area round! My existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, points out the truth. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want your little fantasy world. You use words like depth, talent, discipline. We use those words as the backbone of a life spent defending and crossing goal lines by strong teams. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under his fantasy blanket while I provide the truth (though I do have time to twist movie lines perversly for humorous effects). I would rather you just said thank you sir may I have another, and went on your way to another early-round playoff exit (IF you make the playoffs!), Otherwise, I suggest you take off those rose-colored glasses, and see reality. Either way, I don't give a **** what you think you are entitled to. Summer Creek it is!: Did you pick the Broncos to win 19-4A? rhboiler: I did the job I... Summer Creek it is!: *Did you pick the Broncos to win 19-4A?* rhboiler: *You're ******* right I did!*
 3.

Hey songone fill us in on the Manvel/King scrimm. In your opinion in the scrimm vs Brenham, how did King compare? Thanks
Yeah I would like to know too please  :)
Not songone, but I was at the Manvel/King scrimmage on Friday. Going by brenhamfan's play-by-play on the Manvel/Brenham scrimmage. King: about 50 offensive plays, about 100 yards offense. Half the plays were for 0 or negative yards. Only two plays over 10 yards (longest was 12). About 7 for 20 passing. About a half-dozen sacks given up. Running game struggled. No TDs. Brenham put together some good drives. Had some big offensive plays with over a dozen plays of greater than 10 yards, including 7 over 20 yards. Passing game was spotty but had a few long gains plays. Running game seemed solid. Pretty balanced offense. Scored three TDs.
 4.
They are projected to finish 4th and grab the last playoff spot in their district.  Which IMO, after realignment, 23-4a is the the toghest in 4A region 3.
23-4a may be the toughest region 3 4a district now. Wouldn't be surprised to see Angleton and Terry win D1 and D2, but I think Foster will struggle. They had a senior-heavy team last year, so they may have a rough time early, especially offensively. Brenham should win easily.
 5. Coldspring: something like 15 starters returning from a semi-state finalist. Lost their top two RBs but have lots coming back otherwise. King: new coach, some talent, but look pretty unorganized in its scrimmage last Friday. Coldspring will start just like they did last year -- winning 40-somthing to some-teen.
what happened the last time they played?
PAM experienced what La Porte has experienced 4 time before against PAM.
i look for it to happen 2 more times this season  ;)
Now THAT'S delusional! You can't beat LP twice this year when you're only going to play them once! Because . . . Well, you know the rest by now  ;)
 7. Whether you consider them SETX or not, Manvel is going to have the best offense in R3.
 8.
. . . Friendswood has no business in any poll IMO. . .
Hey Buddy! We agree on something! I think Friendswood could struggle to make the playoffs again this year. Texas City, Dawson and GCM seem obvious in District 24. But of the other four, I'm not sure who would knock Friendswood out of the fourth spot. So they may make the playoffs more out of default than anything. 24-4A is not the region power that it has been the past three years. I wouldn't be surprised if District 23's Angleton and Terry sweep R3 D1 and D2 this year.
 9. Thanks songone. That's a big chunk of the D misisng. Hopefully they are back for the week 0 game.
 10.
The back up is a freshman Reggie Hemphill and he will be another good one to come thru the doors at Manvel.
Thanks. Wasnt sure if he was going to be the #2 or #3 QB.
 11. Curious who the 2 and 3 QBs are for Manvel. They have a freshman that is supposed to be pretty good.

 14.
No Dayton or Summers Eve either :)
Dayton should be there, and will be at the end. Summers Eve won't be.
Wouldn't be surprised to see both Terry and Angleton at 9-0 and in the top 10 going into their week 10 game. Also agree with BrenhamFan that Brenham is a bit too high given what all they lost. So are Dawson and Aledo. If Dawson can find a decent QB, they will be pretty good offensively. But they lost a lot from an average defense last year. Lots of work to do there. Aledo has a good program but their team has been gutted. They may win a relatively weak district, but won't go very far. There are rankings and then there are playoff performances. If we compared preseason with week 10 rankings over the years, I'd bet maybe half the preseason ranked teams are still ranked at the end. 21-5A will be tough and PAM may or may not make it into the top 20. But they will be a force to be reckoned with. That said . . . AIN'T NO WAAAAYYYYYYYY PAM IS GOING TO BEAT MANVEL if they do meet up in the playoffs!!!!!!!  ;D
 15.

From our district I would bump LCM down to a 2. No playoffs in the last 5 years. Also Tx City is probably a 3...What have they done the past 5 years? Not sure they have even made the playoffs. And Terry?I would swap Dawson and BHam. Dawson gets a knod for the D1 recruits, but No Title game yet. By that same assessment, BHam has the D1 recruits and a title game appearance.
Terry had a heck of a team in '08 when we played them on the way to the finals. They also gave lamarque a scare or two in the past couple playoffs. They always have a pretty physical D and O and  a lot of good athletes. I can see why he put them up there.
Terry has probably had the worst luck in 1st round playoff matchups over the past few years. Since they are 23-4A, they always play 24-4A in the first round. Angleton (was Dist 24) in '09, Manvel in '10 and La Marque last year. And Terry gave all three very tough games. 24-4A D2 (and overall) is much weaker this year than it has been in the past few years, so expect Terry to blow past the first two rounds. A third round match up against Dayton would be an awesome game. With two of the top recruits at their positions this year (6'6" Derrick Griffin at WR and Victor Davis at DB, both A&M commits), I think they deserve the 5.

 23. Off topic from the idiotic poll, but an interesting parallel between the Brenham/MW and Dayton/MW games: Halftime: Brenham over MW 33-6 Dayton over MW 31-9 During 3rd qtr: Brenham 40-6 when Richards breaks a 73-yard run to make it 40-13 Dayton 41-9 when Richards breaks a 76-yard run to make it 41-16 End of 3rd: Brenham 47-13 Dayton 41-16 Final: Brenham 47-13 Dayton 41-23 Useless information, I know. Boring lunch hour today.
 24. SC was 9-2 against a very weak schedule last year -- opponents overall were 49-67. Take away their losses to 8-3 Willis and 9-3 Mag West, SC was 9-0 against teams that went 32-61. Not much competition there. That said, they are a team to watch. Last year was only their 2nd varsity year. Lots of sophs with big playing time returning, including the QB that had great passing numbers. If he can get some wheels and a running game for some support, they could be competitive. But according to this chron article [Hidden Content] they lost their entire O line and expect to have a starting center that weighs in at a massive 185lbs. So I wouldn't be surprised if the offense struggles, especially early in the season. Not sure about their D since they played such a weak schedule. Mag West scored 41 on SC. Mag West could only score 23 against Dayton's D, with 14 of those coming after Dayton had iced the game at 41-9 in the 3rd qtr. And SC gave up over 500 yards to fumbling Humble, so D sure doesn't look like a strength. SC plays PNG pre-district. That will be an early indicator of how they are doing. And they are in a better district this year. They may grow and do OK and may even make the playoffs, but #2 is waaayyyyyy off for right now. TSRN missed it here.
