1. I think Coach Sigler is the old A&M Consol coach from my high school days.
 2.
Any chance of this thing selling out? If so, where can I get advance tickets?
I dont think so.  If Navasota/LaMarque didnt sell it out.  I dont see Newton/Cameron selling it out.

Your team won the game and is moving on to the next game...so why would it be any of your concern what our coach says after the game??? MOVE ON!!!
Because many people downed Dawson's coach for making a similar statement AFTER Nederland beat them!
There is a big difference between we beat ourselves and the best team didn't win.
Note: word in bold... If you aren't giving credit to the team that beat you then there isn't a BIG difference.  And WO-S didn't beat themselves, They were dominated by a better team!  The "best defense in the state" was neutralized with the same speed on the other side of the ball.  The pressure on the qb was neutralized with great blocking, and that highly touted secondary was exposed.  Now they do swarm to the ball like crazy, I must admit.  WO-S did commit TOs, but so did Navasota!  After scoring 3 plays into the game, I knew this defense was not going to be able to contain Navasota.
 4. Its fairly new thats probably why you havent been to it.
 5.
'87, noticed a little animosity toward WO-S in some of your posts.  We know Navasota is the better team and proved it last night and probably would again tonite if they played.  I don't think WO-S defense was overated, the numbers don't lie.  Surely they haven't seen the likes of the "Rattlers but dont belittle a very good defense.  Maybe you're still smarting from that '86 beatdown, I don't know.
Numbers dont lie, but they surely can exaggerate the truth!
 6. Fedora does the same thing in Navasota.... And guess who used to work with Fedora???

 8.
The Rattlers had 171 yards in the first half while the Mustangs had 166. So don't act like we wasn't moving the ball on y'all! Take away a couple of our turnovers and we have ourselves a totally different ball game! ;)
What about field position?  The interception returned to our 20 something yd line (Short field). We had a pick 6.  And don't forget the 80 yd TD that was called back.  You can't just look at stats and have tunnel vision.  Just like the 9 shutouts...very impressive, but at the same time very misleading...
 9.

Wow you know absolutely nothing about football. You can't blame our defense for this game. They started out blow for blow. They had 2 passing touchdowns and 2 interceptions. But you can't be on the field that much against an offense like that!!!!! Defense did what they could and salter had the worst game of his hs career! There is no pitty patting around it, salter didn't give the stangs a chance tonight.
+1
The navasota defense had a little something to do with Salter's performance ;-)
 10.
haven't seen it. only the stats. and we know what stats mean this time of year, NOTHING!. GO STANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Much like the 9 shutouts mean NOTHING!!!
 11.
Couldn't believe I read this right.  "We didn't get beat," WO-S coach Cornel Thompson said. "We beat ourselves." Read more: [Hidden Content] I am pretty sure you got beat by the better team.  Sounds like the Dawson coach last week.
Beat themselves??? :-O  Get outta here coach.  The mighty Stangs had 38 scored on them, and could only muster a TD... You were just beat by a better team!
 12. Saw Coach Harris at the Navasota/WO-S game tonight.  Actually coached with him previously.
 13. Couldn't wait to get back home and post.  The defense that was so good all year seemed to have no answer for Navasota's offense.  I at least expected a better game.  Great season for WO-S.  Sorry for the season to end like that for them...
 14.

cbmurphy...when 4 out of the 5 teams in your district are at 500 or lower that is considered a joke of a district. Note, I said WOS district is not much better.
I didn't disagree that the district was a joke.  I was just pointing out that Lorena would be right their with the rest of them in our district.  My point is that their offense didn't do to much against our district opponents.  I agree with you about both districts being over matched by both of these teams.  We see what we did to Jasper.  My only issue was with you calling Lorena a great offense.
5 of the teams WOS shut out had 3 wins or less... still impressive but c'mon.  JOKE
 15.
I would think that we all know the "we beat team A by X points and you beat them by Y points" is about as inexact of a science as there is.  Each year people bring this to the table and it is not a very accurate measuring stick.  One thing to consider when calculating your complex formulas is that WOS played Jasper 4 games into the season.  Then Navasota plays them in the playoffs with a seasons worth of games under their belt.  For reference please see Coldspring Vs La Marque Round 1, early in the season and CS wins.  Then the playoffs roll around and La Marque wins.
Where's the reference??? Navasota and WO-S are going at each other for the 1st time...
 16.
IF LaMarque scored 20 and should have had more, I'd be very surprised if we don't put up at least 28. Our offense is better than LaMarque's and I believe our defense is better also. I'll go 28-22 Stangs. We have NO pressure on us as we are the underdogs (for a change) against the MIGHTY Rattlers. Pressure is all on their shoulders, we should come out with nothing to lose. Their defense has to be surprised they gave up so many points (for them at least) against the Cougars and their offense scored a measly (for them) 31 points. They won only by 11 points, got to be some level of doubt since we are a little better than LaMarque (sorry Cougar fans, not belittling you I just believe we are). If we get a lead or hold close to them through the first half all that pressure and number 1 ranking is gonna weigh pretty heavy on their minds the deeper in the game it goes. I do agree the winner of this game if they come out healthy is going to win state over Gilmer.
And if you want to use predictions like that then check the Jasper game... WOS 17 Jasp 7 Nav 59 Jasp 14 (last TD came against 2nd team)
Please do not just look at the statistics of this game and compare.  I was in attendance.  You can tell that LaMarque was playing to not let Navasota score 40+. Although it was their GAMEPLAN, it was not LM "style" of play.  When is the last time you have ever seen a LM team rush only 3 defenders and drop 8 into coverage??? Thats not Coog football! Never has been.  They've always been the aggressor.  Not the case last night.  Sure they did not capitalize on Navasota's mistakes.  And they also left points on the board.  But Navasota didn't play their best game.  They just played well enough to win.
 18.
Everyone is always talking about Navasota's offense.  I can promise you the defense is just as good as WOS.
Navasota has 6 shutouts on the season BTW.  Maybe not as talented as WOS but definitely a very good group.
 19. Navasota 20 WO-S 10 I really think WO-S has a defense that will keep them close, but offensively they will struggle against the Rattlers defense.  Navasota has a great kicker and will have good enough drives to put points using him (48 yd FG vs LM w/ room to spare).  It all depends on WOS scheme.  As good as they are defensively, I still think they will respect Navasota's offense more and drop guys into coverage instead of ball-hawking.  I could be wrong though.  They can definitely forget about a SHUTOUT lol
Yeah because LM has never won anything. ::) Hats off Navasota! Good Luck.
Exactly my point... Too much pride to let the Rattlers run up the score. When has LM ever rushed 3 D-Linemen and drop back 8 in coverage???  Navasota played their worst game of the season.  And I will give credit to LM, they were partly the reason.
 21. LM had a great gameplan... it seems as if they were playing to not get beat by 20+ instead of playing to WIN.  Navasota Rattlers strike again!

What do you think will be the keys for Navasota defeating la marque tonight ? i want to hear what gives you so much confidence. Don't just tell me how great your teams is and what you have done, i want to hear a game plan... any weaknesses you've seen in la marque that makes you feel like they don't stand a chance. Let's hear it.
Obvious reasons. LM is not disciplined enough....
