1.
Silsbee just lost one heck of a baseball coach.  Coach Trawhon did a wonderful job turning that program around and brought respect to Silsbee baseball.  Here are just a few of his accomplishments: 2006 District championship Coach of the year #5 state ranked team in 3A   Snapped Bridge City's district winning streak. 100 wins in a little over 6 seasons. at least 4 of his players went on to play college baseball. (Brandon Chambers, Rocky Calhoun, Joel Schooling, Blake Moss) Raised enough money to make the following improvements to the baseball field: Covered batting facility Built a bullpen Brick wall behind home plate Metal fence in the outfield Rebuilt the home dugout New scoreboard Planter boxes and palm trees One of the nicest playing surfaces in the area. Silsbee baseball will miss Coach Trawhon!!! [/quote/] Pretty sure BC won district in 06......
 2.
I agree with those statements, we have the talent and now we will hopefully have year around baseball program at BH, so let’s just wait and see what happens.  I do agree the practices need more than what they do, but if the kids are not getting enough work in , there is nothing stopping them from working out on their own after practice to get better, go the extra mile.  I see some kids up on the wknds hitting, but most do not pick a bat up on the wknd once district starts.  If BH wants to go deep into the play-offs, all of the varsity players need to find a summer program and all need to play together in the double header league and need to play fall ball as well.  They need to go to instructors like Krug and go to pitching lessons and run and lift in the off-season.  Don't put it all on the coach, show heart and self motivation and push yourself to get better, instead of blaming everyone else of the short-comings of the season. Talent is not enough these days, it takes going the extra mile, because I know other teams are.  Not saying the load should be lifted off of the coach, or make his job easy, but if you want to be great you have to get more than a team practice in, work out on your own as well, show you want to be out there.  I could have heard a pin drop in the dug-out most of the time this year.  That has to change and there has to be kids stepping up to push each other and I agree having a coach in the dug-out to get these kids motivated.  I really think that things will improve, I hope I'm right.
That is very well stated! I talked to Long on Sunday and he has a very busy summer ahead of him. There are some good, hard-working kids in that program. I wish you guys the best of luck!
I'm not saying that you are wrong because I don't know anything about Magnolia except that they are a good team but you are basing your prediction about a best of 3 series from a single game from two months ago?
Ya....wut they did 2 months ago is still part of their season and why both both teams are seeded where they are.
Come on.....being an "avid" Brenham fan you should know that theres more to it than that! Any team can win or lose in baseball on any given day! Like it or not, momentum is definitely a factor! P.S. Ive really enjoyed oldretiredcoach's old sayings here of late! Keep em coming!
 4. WOW! Coach Riojas has really been great with that program! Congrats to everyone at WOS
 5.
I'd venture to say that 10 years of playoff appearances is impressive, but that is more a product of having exceptional talent to put on the field year in and year out. The last couple of years it became more evident watching Rupp manage 2 and 3 steps ahead of Stabaum. I'm jus sayin........
I really can't stand it when people say that! It absolutely cuts me to the core! Give the man some credit! The problem occurs when you have talent, but still don't make the playoffs. BH had talent this year, but they were very young and injuries hurt them (Long going down). Even with that happening, you guys were still in the hunt up until the last game. There are definitely a couple of good years ahead. Just be patient and let the man do his work. He has proven to be successful in the past.
 6.

Tejas did you know that Cameron Yoe did not even make the playoffs? You are right we will see against Cuero but please don't come onthe this post where so far everyone has been positive amd try to stir up stuff. Orangefield and Bridge City are two fine baseball teams and the list you put are also good but let O'field have their day.
You have your opinion and I have mine.  Orangefield has a good team, the best they've had in a long while, but I look for a team that has been there, done that to make it to Austin.  Jasper and Carthage are the first that come to mind.   Orangefield don't have horses on the mound to play at Dell Diamond. Congrats to the Field on a great year though.
I think what Tejas was trying to say was that Jasper and Carthage's programs are on a roll as far as the playoffs and state tournament. Throughout the 2000s they were always in the mix to make it to Austin and did so. Both of them have won a state title. Coaching is a huge factor in this, but it is ultimately up to the kids.  There is a "swagger" passed down from older kids to younger kids that are in a winning program.  This "swagger" comes from experience and success. Say anything you want, but if a program is consistantly winning in the playoffs and advancing year in and year out, they have a definite advantage against a "new" team.  I'm with Tejas. I always look for an established program to make it to Austin. One that has "been there and done that".  Look at a list of the teams that made it to the state tournament in the last decade.  There are alot of teams that are regulars on that list.  With that being said, I think that Orangefield is definitely a program on the rise.  They have a great coach and a ton of talented kids coming up.  They definitely have the talent to make it to Austin this year, but I hope they realize that it won't be an easy task.  I'm rooting for you guys!!! There are alot of deserving kids on that team that had a spectacular year!

I would love to see Evadale bring a ring to setx! I definitely agree that they are a force to be reckoned with in 1A.
 8. Congrats to Orangefield! You guys truly showed that yall can win the big game! Good luck in the playoffs and hopefully we will meet again!
 9.

Evadale will lose in the 3rd round. Jasper has a good chance as long as they play to their potential. They have had some down games this year and we all know those kill you in the playoffs.
i take it you ether havnt seen evadale play or u just dont no much about baseball.... bc the rebels r good real good... there r 4 boys on that team that will be playing D1 ball in 2 years... and u want 2 say they aint got a chanch maybe u should go watch them play one of there warm up games
All I have to say about this quote is LOL! (only about grammar....not Evadale!)
 10.
You cant put bryant on this list. He walked into a great group of kids at BC and if Moore would have stayed then it probably would been the same result or maybe even better for those couple of years that Bryant was the head coach. The kids deserve most of the praise not bryant.
I agree that Coach Bryant walked into a great bunch of kids, but you have to give the man some credit.  The man has won everywhere he has coached.  In Buna he went to the state tournament twice, Bridge City he went twice, and then at West Sabine he almost goes again.  I don't know why Coach Bryant has earned this reputation that he can't coach.  He has proven that he can to everyone.  His coaching style was not the most flamboyant, loud type I have ever seen, but this wasn't always a bad thing.  He kind of sat back, let the kids play, and chimed in when necessary.  I believe with agressive coaches it sometimes puts too much pressure on the kids and they don't perform as well.  I guess you can say "different strokes for different folks".  I have nothing but the upmost respect for the man and his coaching style.  I respect everyone else's opinion, but you can't take away the success this man has had.
 11. My GOD I cant believe I just did this.....OF wins 5-3!!! :o  But don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the Cards!
 12.
Maybe Zoch this round
HAHA! I don't think so....Matt WANTS this one....and Coach Landry knows that! He's going to let him compete!
 13.
The Bridge City teams in 05 and 06 both had over 40 homeruns as a team! That was before they deepened their field to center, but I remember going to games those couple of years and it looking like Cape Canaveral!  They had some big boys on that team also!
Both of those teams made it to the state semis!

 15. If Bryant was still at BC and won district the couple of years after he left, I would go with Bryant.  With that not being the case, Mixon is my choice.  His team is competitive every year and he has a ring. Does anyone know how many district championships Jasper has in this decade?
 16. What classification are Angelle and Evans from OF? Every time I read something, they are tearing it up!
 17. So if you had to choose between Long and Leggett for BH, who would it be? If you were playing tomorrow and it was a one game series....who would get the rock? I heard alot about Long at the first of the year, but haven't heard anything lately. Leggett has had some solid outings. I haven't gotten to catch any of the BH games this year and wanted you guys' opinion.
 18. Im gonna have to go with BC in this one. Since BC has moved down to 3a in 2001, OF has only beaten them one time. That was last year in the playoffs and it was basically a worthless win (BC won the series).  If I'm not mistaken, that is a record of 22-1 in BC's favor (playoffs in 2005 and 2009 included).  Although some very close games along the way, BC seemed to find a way to win.  Baseball is a very mental game. OF has to prove to themselves they can make it over the hump and win a game that counts against a pitcher that has dominated them.  Ill take BC in a close one 5-3 with Hicks throwing a complete game gem.
