1. Jonathan Gray played most of the game with a badly bruised knee that was swollen nearly twice it's normal size and a badly bruised shoulder.  He couldn't extend his knee fully.  On the high light film you can him limping off the field.  Didn't you think it strange he was run down from behind and forced out of bounds on the two long runs without any moves or cut backs like he did all year?  One was inside the ten.  Were it not for his injuries his stats would have been similar to last years against LaMarque.  Only reason Manvel had a TD at half time was because of a very questionable roughing the kicker call after a missed field goal.  Manvel certainly had the athletes but they got beat because of lack of playoff experience, mistakes, poor execution, and coaching.
 2. Elmer (Hot Dog) Thompson was indeed the Head Coach of the Bobcats when Gene Walker played.

 4.
Gene Walker did go to Rice.  He did not go pro. Father in law was a teammate of his.
Walker and my best friend played together at Rice.  They are still close friends and talk frenquently.
 5.
Gene Walker and Edward Taylor to name two!
Gene Walker and the H-D Bobcats played my "Albany Lions" for the 1-A State Championship in 1961.  The game was played in Corsicana in a driving rain storm.  Albany won the game 18-12 but Walker was the best player on the field that night, just a little ahead of Albany's Jr RB Johnny Agan.  Went on to play for Rice and, if memory serves, several years in the Pro's.
 6. Hey I'm a big Aledo fan and have been for many years. As much as I would like to say top 4-A teams could hang with top 5-A teams they couldn't.  Not say'in they couldn't win on "any given day" but on a regular basis they ain't no way.  4-A could beat 5-A and 3-A could beat 4-A and 2-A could beat 3-A and 1-A could beat 2-A so could 6 man beat 1-A?
Believe so. I think in the 80's, we beat a 5A school that won state the same year we did. Also, I believe it was '97 season, but we beat Baycity in pre district, Lost to Lamarque in the 3rd round that year, and I believe Baycity won 4a D1 and Lamarque won 4A D2. Two state champs out of the same district. Man if we would have went D1, we probably win state that year. Dang Cougers. Always had our number. We got them in 2000 though.  ;D
Could you be a bit more specific.  I know for sure that in 1958 3-A Breckenridge beat 4-A Wichita Falls and both went on to win State
HEY GUY HALF THE PEOPLE ON HERE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE 60'S.NONE OF US WERE PROBABLY BORN.I HEAR STORIES FROM BACK IN THEM DAYS FROM MY UNCLES AND MY DAD,BUT THATS ALL I CAN GO ON.THE SCOOLS WERE SEGREGATED AND IM SURE THE ALL BLACK SCHOOLS HAD SOME AWESOME PLAYERS ,AND I WISH WE HAD SOME RECORDS OF THIS.MY DAD TELLS ME ALL THE TIME,IF THE PLAYERS FROM BACK THEN WERE PLAYING RIGHT NOW ,THEY WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE
Just cause you don't know who he is don't mean he wasn't the best.
 9. If you ain't going to say Herbert Beasley, 1960, then don't anything
Thats what i'm saying...  Two years ago Brenham faced a 2-8 Manor team.  The result was a 42-0 halftime score before we pulled the starters. I think the final score was 49-14.  I say 2 teams should make the playoffs from each district.
Yeah, but look at this year.  Kingwood Park, I believe, was the fourth place team out of their district and they upset Brenham.  I know Brenham had a bad night and maybe they underestimated a team with a 4 & 3 record but in any event it happened.

 12.
Stephenville was young last year?
Not as young as Aledo.  Aledo's Murders Row 2011:  Week 0 - Sville (An intense rivalry between two great teams).  Week 1 - 5-A Weatherford (Not necessarily a powerhouse but the only team to beat Aledo in two years).  Week 2 - Lake Travis (Oh boy, 4-A D1 State Champs).  No easy chore
 13.
there is a certain 3A team that could hang with LM, wont beat em, but would scare the mess outta them.
I think it would be safe to say Aledo handled La Marque without a lot of trouble Friday night.  I also think it would be safe to say that Sville gave Aledo all they could handle twice this season.  I'm positive that Brownwood roughed up Sville pretty good and that Carthage beat Bwood.  I'd say there are two 3-A schools right there that could beat La Marque.
 14. Been there done that several times.  First time was 1974 vs Jim Ned.  Beat the snot out of them there red skins.  Went on to play Grapeland in the 1-A SC game.  Got screwed by the stripes.
 15.

I'd be proud to accept.  Aledo don't get a whole lot of pub from Ft Worth and virtually none from Dallas
Thats because they think the blondies from SLC are the best thing on Earth
That's cause SLC and Trinity is all Tarrant Co's got, but I guess that's pretty good come to think of it.  Aledo, being in Parker Co, is like a red headed step-child.  In keeping up with the Cougs this year I kind'a got flashbacks of Jack Mildren
 16. I'd be proud to accept.  Aledo don't get a whole lot of pub from Ft Worth and virtually none from Dallas
 17. IDK, it's not exactly like Guyer and Trinity got blown out, yeah they got beat but both games were decided in the last seconds.  No bias, I picked all five games Fri and Sat correctly.  I hope M. Brown is much better that I saw Sat cause I kind'a like UT.  I think it was cool that Denton ISD had two schools playing for the SC.  I think HS football is the best sports entertainment in the country and you get the most bang for the buck.
 18. Abilene ISD has had it's fair share of State Championship Show Ups and I expect them to make many more.  If you want to include the Big Country area, I'd expect it would be one of the best in the state.
 19. I see nothing wrong with letting the coaches determine where their teams play.  They can bargin between each other whats best for their teams and fans.  If weather is a factor so be it that's worked pretty well since the UIL started.  It's that way until the SC games and many times the game that determines the best team in the classification is not the SC game
 20. There maybe a back out there some where better than Gray but I've not seen nor heard of him.
 21. LT will play Aledo at Bearcat Stadium the third game of 2011.  Great hype is expected for this game and it will live up to the hype.  LT will be out for revenge, Aledo will try to show that 2010 was no fluke.
 22.
LaGasse is far from just a utility player, he's probably the best athlete on the team. He QB'd in Brewers absence this year due to a separated shoulder.  They won't be missing much from that position.
LaGasse was the QB when Aledo beat LT.  The kid is a really good athelete and I think there will be very drop off at the QB position next year.  I look for him to do very well.
 23. I admit to being a homer but from 50+ years of being involved in HS football one way or another the performance that Aledo put on Friday night leaves no doubt in my mind that Aledo could defeat many of the teams rated above them.
one of the better stadiums in S.A. IMO
Yeah, I was just looking at the Texas Bob page on that one.
way better than the "rock-pile" (alamo stadium) IMO
Hey, watch your mouth there Scooter, I played in the THCA All-Star game there in 1961 ;D  I see you're in Abilene, I grew up in Albany.  Played for the Lions on their back to back SC's.  Live in Aledo now.
