1.
I smell an upset coming!
Too soon, brother! But Jerard Ross has 2nd foul!
 2. Richardson gets his 2nd foul.  Reed with 1. Hawks up 15-9
 3.
Prudhomme better stay outof foul trouble early since the other kid down low has a broken hand
Prudhomme, Persohn, and Gus had all better stay out of foul trouble.  We can't afford to lose anyone of those guys. Luckily, they all seem to have the stamina to play pretty much the whole game, unless of course, they are running up and down the court all night with Silsbee.  If they play within themselves and not turn it into a track meet, they'll be all right. Hawks, it's time to soar, baby!
 4.

:D OK.. I know how to solve this.. Wait until after the game and tell me all about it ;) I hope you two are still active on the Basketball section of SETXsports
There won't be much to talk about after the game is over.  Either HJ will win or they will lose.  What is it you will want to talk about after the game?  "You two" have been pretty active on this board for sometime (and long before you came along) so I can see no reason to stop being active if the game doesnt turn out like I hope.  I don't make predictions about game outcomes and never have, so you will have to find another issue for us to debate.  But I stand ready for such a possbility, as long as Faninthestands approves.
No, just go ahead and continue beating on dead horses, brother.  Who cares how old it gets (your references about "mopping up"), its never too old to stop you.
 5.
Okay, here is my logic for wanting HJ to win tonight: I run into more people who know about Cleveland's program, plus Cleveland gets more press and playing time in my city. Therefore, if HJ can beat Cleveland, it should be easier for me to explain (again) who and what 3-A district schools my kids play against. GO HJ! :)
If you haven't been able to explain it to them yet, then I doubt that would change: 1) HJ has eliminated the higher ranked Indians the last 2 years. 2) 21-3A has provided 9 of the last 10 regional finalists and the last 5 state representatives from region 3. So, if they don't understand yet..........   ::)
 6.
Does HJ have any size? What do they have in the post?
6'4" forward (Prudhomme) and a 6'3" post (Persohn)  - give or take an 1". Actually, this team is taller than the previous two play-off teams for HJ, although that doesn't equal the height of Cleveland.
 7.
Being behind didnt seem to bother Cleveland this year, They were down by 20 in Coldspring and still managed to pull out a win, good luck Indians
You know that's a big difference.  If they lose in Coldspring, no problem, district continues and you get ready for the play-offs. But if the Hawks take the lead, then you think, "oh no, it's happening again!".  Since its the play-offs you got everything to lose! Just my 2 cents. Hawks, it's time to soar, Baby!!!!
 8. Most of the starters have played HJ the last two years in the playoffs... coming in as favorites and going home... well, preparing for baseball. If HJ manages to take the lead during this game, I feel that doubt is going to creep into Cleveland.  Mental mistakes will follow.  A technical or two and its over!!!!  Cleveland hasn't shown me that they have the mental toughness that Silsbee has.  That's why Silsbee was able to come back against HJ..... SO MANY STINKING TIMES IN THE LAST 4 YEARS!!! But, back to the topic of HJ: its time for the Hawks to Soar, Baby!!!!!
 9.
Its hard for our area to be that well represented in the regional tourney.. Region 3 is LOADED with those dang Houston schools.. And they tend to be pretty freakin great ;) Piece of cake though 8)
Good luck to you guys! That would be cool to see a Nederland / Ozen Regional Final.  I don't think anyone would have seen that coming.
 10.

Yes.  Ozen and Nederland could meet in the regional finals, i believe.
Nederland would have to beat Galveston Ball and Ozen would have to beat LaMarque for those two to meet in Regional finals.
You see, there's nothing to it.  21-3A has done that for what, 4 of the last 5 years?  And, if I'm correct, 21-3A has sent two teams to the Regional Tournament for 5 of the last 5 years. Piece of cake!  ;)
 11.
I know that drives me crazy. I try to teach kids that a dribble is to gain a advantage. What have you gained by just taking the ball from the backdoard ,taking it to the floor just to bring it back up to the backboard?????
Especially when all you are doing is saying to some little short guy on the other team, "Hey, come steal the ball while its down there". I can't tell you how many times I've seen Jarvis, Jacoby, and now Gus turn that into a fast break for our team.  Its so easy to prevent, but players do it without thinking.
 12.
Well you could start with the top 2 kids from all the local teams left in the playoffs, then maybe add the kid from Silsbee and the kid from PNG. That would give you a good start. But if your realy the best player in SETX you should not go out in your first playoff game.
And that, folks, is what you call, "A Shot across the Bow"!!!!! 8)
 13.

The two biggest factors in playoff basketball is matchups and adjustments. The Rebels are lucky to have a guys at the helm who has coached at the high school and college level. From here on out the oppostion determines where the ball goes so don't be so quick to say they have to go to the bigs and they have to convert. If the defenses collapse ,and they will, the ball will have to be kicked out and Murphy will have to convert. The ball can take funny bounces this time of year so anything can happen.I hope the Rebels continue to win but I gotta believe they are going to start seeing some pretty good clubs from here on out.
You are right, there will not be anyone left in the playoffs at this point that is not  good clubs. And as for as Murphy goes, I have never seen the kid have three off games in a row. I look for him to have a good game Wen. because if anyone was scouting them ,they will try to shut down Dunigan, that should open the floor for Stark, and Murphy. The best thing about this club, is that on any night one of the 4 leaders on this team can have a great game.
That's what makes a team a champion!  Good Luck, Rebs!
 14.
I guess whenever you declare them to be expired.
Love you,  brother!
 15.
Sure- we have differing opinions and there is nothing wrong with that.    And while it wasn't a great topic 10 or 11 weeks ago, it certainly was about 6 weeks ago.
Oh its been only 6 weeks?  OK, I take everything back.  dogs, you're own your own, you Hawk-hater you!!!!! BTW, when does the statute of limitations end on all anti-HJ idiots?  ???
 16.
Excuse me, but " the predictions were well founded" is strictly a matter of personal perspective .(perhaps you thought so and I didn't )and you have not identified yourself as a hater of any school may be why nobody has taken you to task about your predictions)   My feelings are that the results suggest they werent so well founded.
Maybe so.  And that was a great topic about 10 - 11 weeks ago............ Maybe that's just my opinion.................
 17.
got to see the brawl last year... pretty ridiculous.
Did nash start it?
Yeah, I think a Cleveland fan had a sign that said, "HJ Sux" and Nash pointed out how to properly spell "sucks"!!  ;)
 18.
And as many in the past have posted..........if you don't like it don't read it!!!!!!!
My response is, dedicate a thread to "dogs1218 doesn't know HJ basketball from a hole in the ground".  And while you're at it, create a thread "BadSanta doesn't pay $1000 bets".  ;) Then it will be easy to "don't like it, don't read it".  But when you hi-jack every thread that involves dogs1218 and HJ basketball, its sort of hard to "don't like it, don't read it". ::)
 19.
Couldnt disagree more.  Aforementioned individual "went after" the Hawks as well as their supporters with comments that he felt he  was entitled to make.  You and he should both realize that those type of comments will cause responses (that said responders were ALSO ENTITLED to make)  When you make statements that begin with words such as "My hate (for HJ) comes from", any reasonable person is bound to expect someone to answer that comment.  So, in this case, I dont believe the answer is for everyone to sit in a circle and sing Kumbaya.  I believe if you are big enough to make the remark, you don't need to be defended by anyone else and you are big enough to expect and/or deal with the responses/consequences.
Couldn't disagree more.  Aforementioned individual's comments should have been debated for a day or so, but, Good Lord People, it's been 3 months almost!!!!!
Additionally, the "mop the floor" prediction wasn't within a 100 miles of being remotely accurate since HJ led Silsbee for a goodly portion of the game.  After that enlightened prediction failed to bear fruit, the next prediction was, and I quote" The athleticism of WOS will end up beating HJ".  So once again, I disagree- neither prognostication was close in any way.
Couldn't disagree more.  The predictions were well-founded.  The predictions just didn't come true. I've made some wrong predictions and you've made some wrong predictions.  But I don't see anyone reminding me of those mis-predictions 3 months later.
Lucky for the Bulldogs that the voters in the US are as lame as they have been cuz you're giving them a pretty good chance by comparing it to our lame brain prez's chances.  :-\   ??? I hope the Bulldogs take it all just to shut nay sayers up!
Not in 4-A. Nay-sayers  gonna win this one. 21.
I think everyone, including myself, just got a little offended with some of his comments early on, like "mop the Floor" and HJ has nowhere the team they have had the last few seasons, based solely on the outcome of the HJ Ned. game earlier this year, we just all disagreed. We even tried to tell him that Nederland was just a lot better this year, but he didn't buy that either. I think with Nederlands long playoff run it proves they are much better than many of their teams in the past.
Oh, I know.  But, in my opinion, it was an accurate prediction.  Silsbee was simply incredible early in the season, and we were getting beat by Nederland (where we did look admittedly AWFUL!), LCM and Central.  And although we had faith that the Hawks would play well against Silsbee, I don't think any of us would have been completely surprised if they didn't "mop the floor" with us that night!  Sometimes you guys just got to let it go.   Not everyone is going to be a Hawk Believer.... Maybe that's what makes us special! And besides, there's nothing sweeter than beating a team that everyone thought was going to crush you!!!!!  That's what made the last two playoff games against Cleveland so special!  Navasota comes to mind, also!   8) You know, I think dogs is right..... we do live in the past sometimes!  But that's very easy to do when you have a history to brag about, eh?  Maybe dogs is envious?  ;)
 22.
I listened to it on Friday night after I got home from the game.  We got loud but it was good, I just need to turn it down so it does not go out so loud!!!!  Keep doing what your doing Poppa........although at one time I thought that the roof was caving in.......Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god!!!!  It was classic!!!!   ;D ;D ;D
For some reason, I'm hearing, "The Giants win the pennant!  The Giants win the pennant!" Of course, that game wasn't nearly as big as this one last weekend!  ;)
 23.

X rays confirmed, Persohn does have a broken bone in his hand.
What type of brace does he have?  Is it going to affect his play much. I say that because Joe can really drive from the free throw line to his left and shoot a lay up with his left hand really well for a big man.  On the other hand, if it means Joe won't dribble while he's in traffic in the lane, that may be a good thing.  (If I were a coach, I'd make every post run laps whenever they try in dribble through traffic!)
The Dribble in traffic, does not get to me as much as the aircheck by the big men at the goal!!!! Just catch it high and shot it high.. When you bring it down, you go from 6'7'' to 5'5'' >:(
Isn't that the same thing that happens when you rebound it, then dribble, then go back up? Drives me nuts!!!
 24.
Unless I am blinde or cannot interpret my own sentence all I stated were opinions..........am I not entitled to those?
Well sure, but you're not the only one that seems to hound dogs every time he doesn't jump into lockstep behind our beloved Hawks.  From what I've read on these forums these last few years, one would think it is a sin to not back the Hawks 100%. BTW, evidently its also a sin to misspell a word!  ;)
