  1. The Lady Raiders were up 3-0 about 10 or 15 minutes into the first half. Not sure what the final score was. LC-M girls defeated Silsbee 3-0.
  2. I'd lay money that Ben voted for Duane and Duane voted for Ben ... they are good friends and great coaches. Joub had a fantastic team this year ... lots of talent. They won a lot of games and with the exception of one bad night, they should have won state. Coach West didn't have the same caliber talent and still almost made it to state. It's kind of like the Silsbee girls basketball coach being named Coach of the Year. His girls started out with eight or nine losses in a row and came back to make it to the playoffs. He earned the title of Coach of the Year. I think sometimes the coaches simply vote for the coach who won the district ... In fact, if you ask most of them, they don't like to pick a Coach of the Year at all. ... In the end, Joubert or West would either one make a great Coach of the Year.

  5. I watched these girls play Wednesday night in Groveton and was very impressed with the heart they showed and the coaching they received from Coach Hollyfield ... they are all a class act. The seniors have done themselves proud as leaders and players. I'm looking forward to seeing all the post-season awards they receive!

  11. Between the cheerleaders on the my left and the ref in front of me, I was only barely able to see it happen, much less get a picture ... Sometimes I think the refs forget I'm down there on the floor ... been stepped on a few times and they look at me like "Where did you come from?!?" It was a pretty one though ... the alley-oop ... I have some slam dunks from earlier in the season. I'll have to find them and get them posted for ya.
  12. I love to shoot football ... but basketball is my favorite. There's always so much action going on it's hard not to get a good shot. I'll have more coming up soon ...

  15. Didn't Brandi and LaQuan play together for one season in Silsbee? I think Brandi was a freshman adn LaQuan a senior. Those two were just fantastic athletes. I remember Kim Albers pointing Brandi out to me when Brandi was still in junior high. Kim knew Brandi's ability before anyone else had even heard about her. Those were some great basketball days in Silsbee. Any consideration that Ang Green is among the best Southeast Texas has seen? Just because she decided to go to Lamar instead of a major D-I school doesn't make her any less an athlete. Plus ... I think she set a scoring record at Silsbee High School. Given the history of the program, that's pretty impressive.
