  1. If I remember correctly...a few years ago Angleton faced Dayton in the Division 1 play off game and put a pretty good hurtin' on them. I believe the score was something like 33 to 14 or close to it. That was the year we had Calvin Davis as QB and Lamar Mitchell as RB. BUT, Dayton did lose to Oak Ridge by a couple of points in the third round. So be careful when making posts without researching.
  2. I'm a Baytown Sterling grad but made it to Liberty County as soon as I could! The greatest game I could remember was my senior year in '85. It was the last game of regular season and I believe it was for a play-off spot. I don't remember the other team but they had just scored and it was 25-21 with 17 seconds left to play in the game. The kick-off return was the most electrifying t/d run I had ever witnessed putting the Sterling Rangers on top!!
  3. Then let the potential be unleashed!!! I hear a stampede coming!!!!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!! Hey Cougar....inform the rest of your "pride" (sorry, couldn't resist) that the better parking is at the Jr high on 146. Then just walk through the back to the field. You won't have to fight traffic on the stadium road. That mess won't be fixed till next season...hopefully! Y'all have a safe trip!
  4. Now don't y'all forget Lamar Mitchell! THAT boy was a HOSS!! Between him and Calvin Davis Dayton went 3 rounds in D1 playoffs a few years ago when Jake Passmore was on defense.
  5. Well, if you remember, they were going to a marching competition that was for that specific type of showmanship. But...this thread is for game predictions. So let's just try to keep it that way.
  6. Well, then...if I had to guess, I would say that if L-town Stunners ever became a band director that you could bet it would be a military band! I, for one, actually found Central's band extremely entertaining displaying a "Drum line" style show and not straight-laced and stiff. Band was meant to be fun and a chance to display your pride for your school. And by the way...Central's drum major is a VERY flexible person!!
  7. I too was Air Force but stationed at Kadena AB, home of what used to be The Habu.
  8. If my calculations are correct, these are the team defensive stats of average yards allowed per game: Dayton 200.75 Beaumont Central 272.25 LCM 290.57 Vidor 324.375 Lumberton 325.875 PNG 327.25 Ozen 341.25 Nederland 377.25
  9. And the only reason it was 35 was because of the 2 TD's that were called back. So that would make it 49 - 0??
  10. I'm not a superstitious person, but never say NO CHANCE! Anything can happen. On any given night the best team can have an off game. I expect Dayton to win but I never go to a game underestimating the other team. Well, except Smily in 21-4A.
  11. Who do you think has the most effective defense at breaking up plays and scoring?
  12. Since I am a Bronco fan, I will be attending the rest of the Bronco games as each one is intriguing to watch in a new district. Friday night will be a good game against Vidor. GO BRONCOS!
  13. I'm going to pull for BH. From what I have watched of Crosby playing Dayton the past 4 years, all they have is a passing game. There is no running game and there is no speed. BH has both and are very strong on defense. Crosby may have a decent defense but I believe BH will be too much for them.
  14. What were the official stats for yardage and so forth? Local are paper isn't updating. And, how long was that punt return????
  15. Thanks for helping pull everything back into perspective purplepride! It was much needed. Tonight is going to be a good game and I'll be there to support my kid too. Good luck to both teams!
  16. I have been watching the forums since before the first game and I have to admit...all of y'all really crack me up! So I'll put in my bit and go back to observing. It doesn't matter what district you are in, or how many games you have won or lost. Each game starts the same way...one step at a time. Be sure to keep pride in check or it will cost you. The Broncos haven't made it to the play-offs 10 plus years in a row by laying down to teams with better records. However, this is a tougher district. So with that said, again I re-iterate. One step at a time and good luck to both teams.
